Apologies if anyone has already started a thread on the race, I couldn't see one. Possibly it wasn't talked about as even with less than a week to go there appears to be no clarity as to what is going to turn up.
I have had a couple of speculative bets on timetest but not with a great deal of certainty that the horse is even going to turn up. It seems to be a race devoid of information and without a strong favorite, the older mile division Solow excluded seems to be very weak at the moment. Nothing of the quality of Canford Cliffs, Frankel, Farrh or Paco Boy in this country at least.
Be interested if anyone has a very strong view, could easily be 5/1 SP fav and a decent sized field next saturday
I have just backed Kodi Bear eachway at 8/1. Mostly because he's been a confirmed runner and there is a lot of rain around tomorrow. I think it might be an unsettled week weather wise. If there is any soft in the going description then I am not sure Time Test will run, however if it is good or better then he will and he'd be the likeliest winner imo.
I have had a saver on Limato just because he is not certain to get the trip but looked pretty classy over 7f last season.

yeah Limato was an interesting one, campaigned over shorter trips last season precisely because they thought he wouldn't stay. I have to say the weather was probably the last thing i thought of in regard to this race. The ante-post market has had tuppence ha-penny matched on it so doesn't seem a great guide. Its always a race I've liked as it normally throws up a good horse for the season.

No Time Test in the 5-day decs FA. He is being targetted at the Tattersals Gold Cup, ground permitting.
I find that a strange decision tbh because it's likely to be soft over there and he won't beat Found over 10f.
They should have prepped in this race imo.

Amazing Maria's straight track form from last season makes her top rated on official figures. Stable in great nick and perfectly solid prep at hq. Massive claims in a race that has been relatively good to mares over the years.

Amazing Maria is a multiple Group 1 winner ( not many G1 winners in the race)and good form with Ervedya before she won the Moulin. Should be half the odds. Ditto.

brutal race this almost as hard as the victoria cup... interesting the ground has gone soft that may just help us but still plenty of horses proven with cut...not had a bet yet looking forward to seeing endless drama back off the lay off, will have to see who is declared

Surprised it's currently nearly heavy going even with all the rain this week - should dry up quickly though with dry sunny days so I'd expect pretty good ground by race time so no reason why Limato can't produce his best imo.

Very keen on Limato on everything I witnessed last year, soft ground a benefit also, the doubt or should I say question I have is will he have trained on?, his dam scores 0 points on that score?, Arod e/w not a bad price, but Limato to my eyes was screaming for the mile, Limato must have been 9 lengths behind early in the Poule d'Essai des Poulains, and could not go pace. The way Limato won at Donny beating Breton Rock on a softer surface perhaps a bigger pointer.
Toomore will be hard to pass, but could ruin chance if lighting up early?

The Pill hock Price wise has gone for two in the race and they are cueing up with ‘thousands’ to back them on here this evening. Limato and Endless Drama. One winner from around twenty ‘tips’ so far this month. I feel sorry for connections and anyone who has backed them ante-post following this dreadful news.

tricky race... pace seems assured with barchan in the race and other free goers kodi bear and arod seem assured to make this a test of stamina, the going should be good by race time so the market is all over the place but there really shouldn't be any excuses for any runner
interested to see how kodi bear goes and big races are in him if he learns to relax he has got straight track form but i have always thought he is best on a turning track, i respect him and he may just run well but i have to see him prove he can relax on the lead and really he has to improve to do it in top company over a straight mile, he may be a sitting duck again but i have to just watch him win/run well rather than take the slim odds available, id like to see him in the breeders cup mile but i doubt he would get soft ground there so i would of thought the sussex stakes will be for him but galileo gold will be waiting, i do look forward to see how he has trained on and he is a decent colt
dutch connection is another i'm looking to this year he has class but is he an out and out miler? i don't think he is, if this were over 7 furlongs he would be my bet here but i still like him fast ground is important to him
i've never really liked toormore but he put up a career best last time imo where it payed to be close to the pace, he is a solid enough favorite here if that run has bought him on, he was probably ready to roll at sandown though but is till think he'll probably run his race with the race likely to be run to suit he is a solid horse no matter how you cut it
endless drama has been well backed but personally i just want to see how he runs off the lay off, i like him with the season ahead and if he wins he would of been clearly wound up to do so, so he would become a bounce horse, i'd like to just see him run a nice race and big races are in him, i wonder whether this has been the plan though so i will just have to watch him win as not interested at the price, he is one of the few in this that interests me moving forward
limato another horse i have never really got an angle on but he should be favorite here imo on his doncaster run... i wouldn't be concerned about the lay off for him, however his trainer is very in and out, he still has questions to answer and this race will allow me to get a proper angle on him, i might never bet this horse but today will tell me whether i might consider him, i think this will be his year
belardo a repeat offending enigma for punters is put in at 7/1 for this quite funny...i have no doubt this will be his year but he may have to go abroad to pick a decent race up...he has some form in the book that is difficult to fathom but puts him in the reckoning for this but he is a horrible piece of work
anyway it may seem like i have been sniffing glue all night but i quite like mahsoob for this and i don't know why, i suppose i have always liked him and were getting the right price today, i just feel he can get the pace to run at and run down the speed collapse that may happen in front, it is a mine field here though so just a small bet here, gm hopkins may also be get in the top 4...toormore limato and dutch connection are also liked but small stuff here for me and any result wouldn't surpise

Went a proper gallop and Limato went through the race like much the best horse, just didn't get home. Should have been ridden with much more patience though and got there as late as possible imo. Presuambly Harry Bentley is stable jockey - surely they could have had Ryan Moore if they wanted?
What would you do with Limato - give him another chance at a mile and go for the Queen Anne on faster ground or drop back to the Golden Jubilee - I'm assuming it will be the latter so have taken the 10/1.

Limato was making up ground easily and looked the winner 2.5f out but just did not get the trip, in my opinion; the ground today only had minimal effect but I'm fairly certain the trip was 1f too far for him hence he did not quite get home despite going ominously well 2.5f out.

Candy quoted in the paper this morning as saying the owner chose Bentley because they wanted continuity and the likes of Atzeni and Doyle have other commitments.
Fergus Sweeney generally rides Candy's.
Interesting that Atzeni was back on Belardo instead of Doyle after what happened at Sandown too - probably at the trainer's request?
Moore won a Grade 1 in the US on Euro Charline, who did after all finish 2nd, and also rode her twice to be 2nd in decent races in Meydan in March so can understand him wanting to maintain his association with her.
Jockey booking becoming more difficult to fathom in some of these big races though - did n't even realize Godolphin had bought Dutch Connection until I saw him in their colours, - won't be long until we see a small field where Godolphin own all of 'em!

Similar type to Moonlight Cloud so I wouldn't totally give up on a mile - maybe after the Golden Jubilee and July Cup they could try Limato over the easy mile in the Sussex? Maybe the Breeders Cup Mile or Hong Kong mile might be options later on - though he didn't look totally happy on the turns of Longchamp last year?
The Foret on Arc Day over 7f and Maurice De Gheest at Deauville in August over 6.5f are the only Group 1 options bewteen 6f-8f..
Thanks for the jockey info Rease.Similar type to Moonlight Cloud so I wouldn't totally give up on a mile - maybe after the Golden Jubilee and July Cup they could try Limato over the easy mile in the Sussex? Maybe the Breeders Cup Mile or Hong Kong mi
