I like Lumiere but with the rain forecast next week and the ground potentially riding soft you have to fancy Minding who acts well on soft and stays further than a mile.

Minding will go off odds on if soft and if AFB wins on the Saturday due to double/accumulator liabilities.

As for the 2,000 it was very interesting seeing the Timeform ratings of all AOB's previous winners on yesterdays morning line whereby AFB is rated significantly higher than all of them. I wouldn't back him now but well done for those on fancy prices, the only question is will he stay a mile in softish ground or is he more of a sprinter?

I still think the ground will be GOOD at the very worst. Another 220 yards at the end of the Dewhurst wouldnt have stopped AFB and i think people are forgetting Lumieres gallop on Newmarket racecourse on good to soft (its still available to watch on the racing uk website) settled nicely, went on ground and breezed through. Mark Johnston has no stamina concerns so neither do i.

Can't believe the market is almost disregarding Alice Springs. But then, the less the public likes her, the more I do.
She has had a run this season in the race that Coolmore has typically used as a prep run for their best Guineas hopefuls ( Legatissimo, Homecoming Queen, other placed horses going back).
Secondly, she finished 1.5 lengths behind Lumiere in the Cheveley Park and followed that with a facile win of a sales race, both on the Rowley Mile, so some good form on the track and she may have improved as the season went on. The best could still be ahead.
O'Brien shares the spoils around amongst the fillies. Ideally he would have them all winning an equal amount of black type. He doesn't need Minding to win this race, unlike some other trainers who may only have the one chance at a 1000 Guineas. With Coolmore it's all about getting each filly a good CV to take to the breeding barn.
Whether Alice Springs is good enough, I have no idea, but at 16/1 (15.00 on the exchange) she's a much better bet than Minding, who may well be using the 1000 Guineas as a prep race for Royal Ascot.

What about Turret Rocks? She has credible form against Ballydoyle in France yet under the radar for this race; Turret could be a big player for the Epsom Oaks too I believe.

Are we sure it's spring?
It will be a cold and blustery start to the working week with frequent showers made up of rain, sleet, hail and even snow. Gales will affect northern and north-eastern coastal areas and daytime temperatures will only reach something akin to early March rather than late April. There will be some quieter conditions overnight and a frost to greet many of us for Tuesday morning. During Tuesday and Wednesday we will import even colder air and we will hang on to some very blustery conditions with the continuation of wintry showers. It will be less windy for most of us on Thursday and Friday but we are likely to see outbreaks of rain with the possibility of some snow mixed in. Heading into the weekend unsettled conditions look likely to dominate and temperatures look set to remain below average.

Not promising for any fast ground performers.... maybe it will be the horses who are super fit and who act with cut in the ground who come to fore during the week !!

I have no idea ... what i do know how is quickly the ground moved to soft at the craven meeting once they had a downpour or two.

Thursday is a long way off but that looks the key day for weather watchers.

I saw that GILLJAYSMOUSE. Maybe not running, being saved for Ribblesdale? If she hasn't picked up an injury I do think she'll land a decent prize this year.

Apparently there is continuous light rain forecast from 12pm thursday to 12pm saturday, but dry after - it will not be good to firm ground for sure on race day.
