Started with my race comments. Not yet finished as it takes some time evaluating each runner
OPEN EAGLE: A good 3rd in this race last year, together with 4th placing here in this class on Oct 25th. That should be enough to warrant a good run in November hcp race BUT it ran and won a Class C 10f race at Redcar only 4 days ago. Now has to carry a penalty. It’s form at 10f reads 2W3WW whilst 12f reads W200W30004 giving impression preference for 10f In any case a WLTO aged above 3yo has yet to win this race. 2013 comment As far as I am aware two horses that completed in this race the previous year managed to win the following year. Tropical Strait (4th)and Group Captain (5th). Both had won a class 3 hcp and were 2nd in class 2 hcp. Communicator hasn't done either and has ran at Group Level He hasn't done it this year either |

Open Eagle must have a chance even with his penalty. First Mohican would be my pick to beat him but if you are looking for a big priced outsider then maybe you should take a look at Treasure The Ridge. Apart from the fact that he could be pretty well treated he has form on heavy ground over 12f. 33/1 and drifting at the moment.

I know what the Racing Post's 'headline news' will be tomorrow. I always keep an eye out for fillies improving at this time of year. Trainer is a specialist with them, ground is right and good claimer booked.

Had a little bit ew on Plutocracy (16s).
Bit disappointed the ground is near heavy tho. Anybodies guess if he (or the rest) handle it. |

My Final Picks (the mare is a saver)
OLD TOWN BOY A horse that didn’t excel on AW, but since on grass has won three of its six races. Take the two unplaced runs at Nmkt out and it looks even better. The jump from class 4 win to class 2 win at York adds weight to its chance here. When it travels further than Midlands the form reads W2W and it has a reasonable weight at 8-11. (six 3yo previous winners have won in weight range 8-9 to 9-0) FARQUHAR Won FTO as 2yo (no past3yo winners have done that) and then unplaced in French Listed race. Won class 4 hcp at Haydock en route to the latest 12f win class 2 hcp at NMKT Failed on the Doncaster run over 14f ,but at least has the track experience. Six past 3yo winners had a run over 14f, and three won their next race over 12f prior to winning this race. A slight concern about it travelling further than Haydock, but it has won at two of the qualifying tracks ESTEEMING Didn’t win as 2yo but showed staying capabilities with two seconds over 10f. Although not won higher than class 4 it has been placed at class 2 level. The win earlier in season over 10f came after two 12f wins the previous year. Only two runs over 12f this season but might be laid out for this. A few winners at age 4yo have won in weight range and Distance win & BF have won this. HEADLINE NEWS (mare) Ticks most boxes and it’s only run over 12f and todays class was just beaten by Latenightrequest. This mare might be hust missing a Doncaster run and I don’t see any of the female sex that have won this Except the three 3yo fillies. |

Thank you for all the comments... yes was good to see that one go in... I hope most were on...
bit suprised to see him 12/1 on the day...thought he would be a lot (lot) shorter... I think the connections knew he was going to win, getting penalty was crucial, Tudhope was on another O'Meara horse in the 6 day decs... and was in a higher position so would have made the final fields easily... they took him out and only had one runner... OPEN EAGLE... they knew. Amazing trainer O'Meara... well done to him to plot the horse for this race... |
