Take it you have Faugheen, Vautour, More Of That, Annie if you entered before Friday. Allez Colombieres because I can predict your perm style having studied all your entries from last years TTF. Who's your Whisper this year.

Yes, we have those. Our next list on 83 has Cole Harden instead of More Of That, and Don Poli.
I think the misfurtune affecting More Of That, Annie Power and Allez Colombieres will affect most people in some way or another.

Same for us Sisyphus. We've got quite a few on 93 now. Hugely important period at Xmas coming up. Annoying that it doesn't seem as likely that TNO will go for the Xmas Hurdle. Although Faugheen does, and we have tonnes of him, he was mostly in Irish CH lines, therefore not paired with HF & Jez. Thankfully we do have some Faug and some Jez in the Xmas Hurdle line as well, so not disastrous.
Could definitely do with Shotgun Paddy winning the Welsh National though! I think that would put us in quite a good position.
Notable horses we don't have so far are Don Cossack, Valseur Lido and Josses Hill, so hoping to bok them. Thought Josses Hill not out till the new year, and might stay hurdling...

Rest of UK. Yeah I saw he's entered up, hence mentioning him. We've had a bit of a shocker there. Could definitely do with NJH having a pretty awful season in general tbh...

Williamhill are pricing up the Christmas hdl; Faugheen 8/11 The New One 1/1 Interpret that which ever way you want, but to me those are mighty generous odds for Faugheen if you knew the latter wasn't going to turn up. I would bet without insight that the odds of them just meeting over Christmas was odds against, especially if you have listened to the Twistons. Yet those odds would suggest Hills no more than we do, then again they are the sponsors....may well be paying appearance money. hmmmmm interesting. Thoughts please.

The signs are very much in favour of The New One turnning up, where else does he go in January. Prize money for second would be more than any win anywhere in Jan. They didnt go hell to leather at Cheltenham so cant say he had a hard race. Has to go.

I think it's definitely a good thing if the New One goes in it for us, although no big deal if he doesn't as we have Irving in every line and Faugheen in 50%, so would be pretty confident of scooping 35pts whatever happens really.
Simonsig out of the KG, and apparently having training problems. I'd say it's actually odds against that we'll see him this season tbh, which although would be a shame, would be good for us as we made that late decision to dodge him. Sprinter's next intended target is now Ascot instead of Kempton, so again you'd be a bit worried about his well being currently.
Obviously a huge period over Christmas for us. The horses in the competition in the Welsh National are Shotgun Paddy, Monbeg Dude, Unioniste and Rigadin de Beuchene. We have the first two of those, so would be great if one of them could win it. Would be slightly annoying if Unioniste wins, as we had Black Thunder and Sam Winner in as possible WN horses, so for another Nicholls horse to win would be slightly galling.

With over a week to go and you dont even know the entries yet your pretty sure of 35 points. This race has prize money of nearly £2,000 for 6th place, which certainly pays for the expenses of turning up and with little or knowhere else to go you can bet this will be fairly competative. I can see a Sign Of Victory turning up, who you may remember was backed significantly in the week prior to being withdrawn because of the ground in Irving race, so he must be raring to go. In the 41 races since its inception only 3 horses have gone on to win the Champion hurdle. Nicky Henderson has won the race most times (6) moreover he has won the last 4 runnings.

Yeah, I think the race is the plan for Sign Of A Victory. He wasn't that well backed, the market antepost for the Fighting Fifth would have been absolutely peanuts, and it's not like he was smashed off the boards. If Faugheen, The New One and Irving turn up, they would certainly all be ahead of SOAV in the betting, and I'd be very confident that we would get 35pts, yes.
I also heard that JP was on the blower to NJH after SOAV won at Ascot, and Hendo told him not to bother buying as SOAV wasn't top class. That doesn't mean he isn't, but interesting anyway.
How do you see what horses the leaders have? I think the website is terrible, and can't really work my way around it. Is there a place you can see how many points each horse has scored as well? Thanks for any insight.

Thanks very much. Really helpful. Still can't work out how you see what horses the leaders have though. Am I just being thick?
Disappointing that TNO misses Kempton, I hope Faugheen now takes in the Irish CH en route to Chelt now, but I suspect he won't.

Does this address the question of how you can see other peoples lists to determine what horses they have?

That old adege "careful what you wish for" comes to mind dmutant2. Paul Nicholls has pulled Unioniste out of the Welsh National thus giving Shotgun Paddy no Favours with a 10Lb hike. Hawkes Point will probably be the Nicholls winner you have been dreading.

^no it won't because Hawkes Point is n't in the competition and he's already said he does n't have Unioniste who is so it can only be good news for him at least as far as the monthly is concerned - you already highlighted that many of the leaders have SP,MD and Unioniste so if the latter is a non runner it can only be to the advantage of those who have the first two but not Unioniste.
If a horse who is n't in the competition wins the Welsh National that helps those who don't have a Welsh National horse in their lists for the monthly - but even then runner up points for the Welsh National could be crucial to the outcome of the monthly comp (or not!).
That's pretty easy to understand unless you're a very poor wind up merchant I would have thought.

Im pretty sure I know all of the horses in the competition, and my reference to his dread was from the angle that he his heavily reliant on getting Paddy or Dude in the points, especially as his perms look to have seperated the Irish Champion hurdle and Christmas hurdle runners (bonus races).

As the entries stand for both those races and using dmutants confidence in the outcome if I may; then I have both the 35 points in those bonus races, whats more i have them together.
Incidentally I dont have any issues with dmutant2, I welcome his honest input to this thread. Why else would I offer him the knowledge of how to see the leaders horses.

no, Hawkes Point still in Welsh National but not in The Jumps competition (I can't see him in the horse list).
If there are only four horses in the comp currently entered in Welsh National - three now Unioniste is out - as stated by mutants above then it's conceivable that nobody will get any Welsh National points.
I also recall him stating he was top heavy Sergeant Reckless as potential Arkle horse - Reckless has popped up today amongst the Christmas Hurdle entries (makes sense to me if ground is decent and there's no appropriate race over fences) - probably still a long shot that he even runs, let alone places or even wins but stranger things have happened.
For the sake of transparency my best list only has 78 points (albeit I don't have many lists) so it makes no difference to me - though I also have both Irving and Faugheen....but no Welsh National horse.

I'd have more confidence in the Christmas Hurdle points than the Welsh National points purely because of the nature of the races but I agree that mentally counting the points before the races happen is potentially setting yourself up for disappointment - strange things happen, was n't too many years ago that Punjabi fell in Christmas Hurdle having been sent off 11/8 fav before going on to win Champion Hurdle three months later at 22/1 - there were only 7 runners that year and three of them fell.

I was dissapointed at reading the Feltham article in the Sporting Life, moreover not seeing Carraig Mor entered. On re-reading and counting only 6 horses mentioned but noting that it says; Warden Hill is the last of the 7 entries as a foot note. Hmmm, checked the decs and there it was Carraig Mor no1.

yep, that's the sort of race that could make a difference I s'pose - Saphir Du Reu in lots of list but probably only worth 10 points,Carraig Mor in few lists but potentially worth 18 points.

My best group has 5 winners from 5 runners and the other 5 are all scheduled to run over Christmas. I only hold out mild excitement having had the odds on Felix Yonger getting beat last December and ultimately costing me the £10,000 monthly in the TTF.

I finished second in TTF flat in July and missed out on £5k so I feel your pain. I needed either Toormore to win or Toronado to be out of the fame at Glorious Goodwood but neither ever seemed likely so I was n't too disappointed. I only did 5 entries for a small interest so it's not the be all and end all.
Good luck with the prize, sounds like you have a decent chance - looks like somebody on here might well win at least.

Yesterday was ok for us. Had plenty of Conti and Faugheen. Our best list on the spreadsheet would have 148 pts, which would be 2nd by one point, but sadly it doesn't have any runners left this month. Could have done with Uxizandre winning that though...
Will be cheering Shotgun Paddy to the rafters today.

The overall leader is praying for Boston Bob to wrap up the monthly, he sadly has Oscar Whisky in that group too. Four of the five on 143 want Sam Winner, if he wins then they will draw out the hat for the monthly and one of them has duplicated his line.

Lol, sisyphus, I still don't really get what your gripe is.
Yeah I see Don Poli is running today which is nice, for some reason the RP site wasn't working the other day, and when I tried Sportinglife it suggested that he'd been taken out. Still, I don't think we can now win the monthly, which is a shame, but I'm still very happy with how it's going so far. Jezki would be nice today as well.
I still don't know how you see which horses someone has in their entry, could anyone help out on this?
I have been doing my complete brains punting in the last couple of days, so hopeful of a change of fortunes today!

Did anyone have Sign of a Victory in their lists? He seems likely to go for the Betfair Hurdle next, which is a bonus race we didn't specifically target. We left him out after he was taken out of the Fighting Fifth, but should go well in the Betfair. We had Jollyallan as a possible as well for that race, so would be nice if he runs. Vaniteux could go as well I guess, and he'd have a chance.

Yes, I have all three of those but low representation, it's immaterial in terms of monthly prize for me but Le Vent D'Antan won yesterday but points not yet added, just wonder if that applies to any other runners over the holiday period and if it has a bearing on the accuracy of the leaderboard?
I think they usually update the points after/during each day's racing?

Does anyone know when the winners for December will be announced? It's pretty shoddy that they haven't been yet, eight days into the month. I'm pretty sure we got second in the monthly, for a monkey prize, which gets back some of the investment at least.
Pretty sure we haven't scored any points yet this month though. Could do with Josses Hill losing tomorrow. Also Sgt Reckless runs a flat maiden tomorrow... Wtf is he doing?

WD on Don Cossack JOCI. TNO and Vautour were both good for us this weekend (70% and 50%). I would hope that Vautour has another run before Chelt, but apparently the plan is not to. It was good for us that Sprinter got beaten at the weekend, as we made the late decision to leave him out, but we don't have any Dodging Bullets, which is a shame.
Big few days coming up though, with Djakadam, Briar Hill, Glen's Melody possibles at Gowran tomorrow. Then we have Many Clouds, Dynaste, Black Thunder, Smad Place, and Holywell in the Argento. Then there's Saphir de Rheu in the Cleeve. Gilgamboa and Un De Sceaux in the Irish Arkle, HF and Jezki in the ICH, and maybe Black Hercules in the Novice Hurdle.
Am going to Cheltenham and Leopardstown, so hopefully I'll be able to see a few of them win at least!

Does anyone remember the guy who watched the lottery results one Saturday evening, copied the numbers then went straight round his newsagents and put those numbers on for the following Saturday. Down his local that night he boasted he'd won the lottery, and the Landlord was quite happy to credit him with the cost of all the drinks he ordered for the whole pub, all night, until his winnings came through. I Suppose that could be classed as a form of Munchausen syndrome, I also think that joining a mini-league and entering groups that are not yours, and masquerading as them is also a form of that very same syndrome.
The three leading stables have three different shop pin numbers. The overall leader appears in 3rd place of the ten leading entries I posted on the 29 December at 17:34, the post that I posted 1 hour and 59 minutes before TEN2FOLLOWER's post that stated he was up to 88th place overall.
Can't wait to hear the explanation....lol
Cant even be called aftertiming, two timing lol.

Lol. That's quite funny. We're doing ok still, got quite a few in the top 50, but don't think we have any with over 200pts. If we had the list with all the top scoring horses who we played, our top list would be on 238, 30pts clear of the top, but you can't begrudge that, as we're always unlikely to have that list.
The fly winning yesterday was a bit annoying, would much preferred Jezki to win, and since Jezki didn't even get the points for second, he now can't score more points than the Fly (unless he wins the CH at a much bigger SP than anticipated lol). We had HF in 20%, and Jezki in 50%, so would definitely have preferred Jezki there.
Still, we have Un De Sceaux in 50%, so I still feel like we'll likely go into the Festival with at least quite a few live chances. I don't feel like we've any glaring omissions at least. The worst would be Ptit Zig, Dodging Bullets and Don Cossack, who were all borderline for us, but decided against late on.
It's probably hard for any entry without Many Clouds to win now, I'd say, unless Djakadam wins the GC, which would bring a load more perms into play considering he'd likely get a biggish SP bonus.

Have 2 lists on 170 points. Both have 8 scoring horses. One has More Of That and Annie Power yet to score (so I hope they both come back to their best, as they would have decent chances at the Festival) and the other has Annie Power and Hardrian's Approach as non scorers (the latter has an engagement at Sandown on Saturday).
Both have decent prospects of winners at the Festival.

Wow that's extremely impressive to have a list on 175 if you don't have Many Clouds. Well done Corporal.
We've dropped off the top ten now, but have two entries on 198, so still in there pitching. We also have 15 or so on 183+, which is nice as they're all in touching distance of the top, with only one bonus race difference in points.

Annoying about Dynaste as he was in our top list. Also as we don't have Don Cossack at all and his chance is obviously improved a lot. Looks like we've got a few out this weekend though, Uxizandre would be very very nice for us

Holywell, Glen's Melody and Kings Palace got us points in the past few days, but all only in 10% of entries. They just help us to get more lines into contention though, so it's not too bad.
More of That is a big blow though, as we had in 40% of our entries. I'd say that seriously damages our chances of winning the competition, as that line was split between QMCC & WH and was split like this: 40% MOT, 20% Uxizandre, 20% Balder Succes and 20% Briar Hill. Only Balder has scored points of those, and it's obviously way harder to win with a dud line. So will definitely be cheering on Balder this weekend.
Have plenty of others this weekend as well, with Irving massively important as he's our 100% horse, and then Champagne Fever (30%), Don Poli (50%, although I don't think he runs), Briar Hill (20%), and then Gilgamboa, Ballycasey and Monbeg Dude as 10%ers.
