Grendel, sorry I've not had a look at RP standards for a long time, sounds like they've changed a lot then. Are you saying every standard is now either on the second or half second?

I didn't know that, that sounds pretty poor, never used to be that way. There's no excuse for not being able to get standards accurate to within .1 of a second over a reasonable period of time. I think anyone trying to get more accurate than that would be kidding themselves and it would be pointless anyway, but half a second is too wide a margin, particularly over shorter trips. Having said that, I'd still say the RP are far more accurate in the differences between those two distances.

My guess is where the median time errors have appeared is due to the 5f trip sometimes riding faster than the rest of the straight. I haven't seen that happen at all this year but I've seen it  quite a few times in previous seasons and it would skew the averages.

The 14s gap between the 5f and 6f standard on raceform is just wrong far too much. I used to use RP standards a lot before I compiled my own and they were pretty good for the flat , they are miles out for the jumps.

As for Raceform , I find the going allowances to be wrong far too often when I use it to input my ratings. RI is a great tool for most things but for the SF its seems pretty poor imo .

That's it, I've reverted to RP standards but will endeavour to formulate my own standard times over the winter for next flat season .... good job I did a back up of my ratings on RI and only have to do from 9th June to catch up
