Anyone playing in this? Feel obliged to back Burton Port because if he was laid out for the national he is definitely well in for this. Has course form and more likely to stay this trip so will be aiming to get my money back from the National.

Roalco De Farges for me.  2nd 2 years back and not much higher in the weights and the race has no Tidal Bay this time.  Easy to ignore his last run.

I have backed Restless Harry on the strength of the Argento form. Perhaps he is a bit of a thinker these days but he is not without a chance.

not decided yet, but interesting that they're persevering with the woefully out of form Opening Batsman in first time blinkers.

Since he won the big 3m handicap chase at Kempton last season his form figures are PPF, last of 11 beaten 64 lengths, last of 5 beaten 71 lengths.

Surely you'd put him away for the season unless you were confident he could  be more competitive?

Also remember thinking Poungach ran like a horse who would benefit from an extended trip in the Badger Ales Trophy at the beginning of the season, although his most recent effort at Taunton was no more than adequate.

Need to look at the race in more detail so back later. Happy

I too backed BP in the GN. But cant have him for this race.( Wouldnt be the worlds biggest shock if it did though)
Cant see that 2 places in Nov Hdls 5 years ago equates to 'course form' of any relevance.

Ive shortlisted 3 ;-

Godsmejudge
Bury Parade
Arkillys Witness

Favouring the last of these atm.

10mm of rain at the track today.

Same Difference is 7lb lower than when beaten 2 lengths last year. On that performance he is chucked in so can see why he has been backed into favouritism. NTD had a double at Perth today, too.

Godsmejudge given an easy time all season in prep for SN should be able to manage one more good  run  e/w chance

POUNGACH e/w, terrible jumper ? but without any doubt well enough weighted to make the 4, I fear Opening Batsman if returning to best?

^ similar thoughts but a different decision, I've chanced Opening Batsman at 33/1 ew (mainly a show of faith in the trainer but of course it's possible the horse will never be as good as he was).

I've backed off Poungach because I don't really see any signs of improvement in his jumping so my other bet is Godsmejudge at 12/1 ew, he should be able to build on his effort in the Scottish National.

Good luck, all.

Very unlucky. Thought he'd got it the way he was traveling  - I was beginning to kick myself that I'd left it alone after seriously backing it for  the GN. I wonder how he would have fared had he completed the course ?
