Going: Hurdle Soft-Heavy in places; Chase Soft-Good to Soft in places.

Ballyalton
Oscar Rock
Timesremembered
Beat That
Shantou Magic
Royal Regatta
Creepy
Kaki De La Pree
Port Melon
Captain Cutter

One my favourite races, given that it will be really testing ground and for his liking of newbury i like Oscar Rock.

Ballyalton has done his winning on better ground.

Kaki De La Pree might be a live outsider.

Thoughts ?

Agreed. And On. Taken 5/1. It is his soft ground bumper that made him standout. He looked really good when it was so have to give him the benefit of the doubt re his last run, and in anycase it was a perfectly decent effort.

I hope it is on, really heavy rain in newbury tonight.
Report sintonian December 25, 2013 9:29 PM GMT
yep could be off.

His form figs with soft in going description are 111. On officially Good, they are 22 and those two defeats were actually behind  decent horses. Point is though, if it was slightly softer, he could be unbeaten, 5/5.

Yeah his two wins at newbury on soft ground read very well, cant remember the last time newbury was rained off.

6 line up

1    Captain Cutter
2    Creepy
3    Kaki De La Pree
4    Oscar Rock
5    Shantou Magic
6    Timesremembered

At least we got a decent price on OR, will be interesting to see if they ride Timesremembered like they did at chepstow and not at cheltenham. Kaki De La Pree still interests me as he has won over further and will like the ground.

Thanks Ibrahima - whether it wins or loses I'm happy with the price I had. I opened an account with 8 8 8 just to get the 6/1
after I saw your original post. It'll be interesting to see what the prices are like when they open up later.
Report sintonian December 27, 2013 11:59 AM GMT
Nice prices procured. I've never bet with 888 before so just took the 5/1 elsewhere. He'll be 3/1 at best.

What is the forecast ? Any chance of an abandonment..
Report Ibrahima Sonko December 27, 2013 12:28 PM GMT
nice and bright, pretty certain it will be on.
Report sintonian December 27, 2013 3:24 PM GMT
Good stuff. Only 2 firms priced it up so far, tops is 11/4.
Report twonky December 27, 2013 7:31 PM GMT
Whatever happens tomorrow, he wants a trip and soft ground. Got Sefton Novices written all over him.
Report golightly December 27, 2013 8:08 PM GMT
Kaki De La Pree pricewise ?
Report Ibrahima Sonko December 27, 2013 8:11 PM GMT
something up, looks a cracking race but i was expecting kdlp to be around 12/1 and a bit of value.

Already backed kdlp at 66/1 for 3mile novice at cheltenham.
Report golightly December 27, 2013 8:15 PM GMT
managed some 8's and 15/2 agree looking a good race. Nice 66/1 if turns up at chelts.
Report Masterminded December 27, 2013 9:11 PM GMT
Looks perfect race for OR will be pretty disappointed if he doesn't go close. Good race though
Report sintonian December 28, 2013 1:57 PM GMT
Strange run, that. Looked like being well beaten 2 out but then stayed on to grab 3rd place.
Report PeteTheBloke December 28, 2013 4:23 PM GMT
Thanks for the tip. Came out a small winner so I'm happy.
Report twonky December 28, 2013 10:17 PM GMT
Still say, it's Sefton novices on soft ground
Report Masterminded December 29, 2013 10:29 AM GMT
Really good quality race I thought. Captain Cutter v impressive & interesting for AB. McCoy was taking a pull on him out the back he had so much horse turning in. Oscar Rock ran ok but he doesn't look the same horse at the moment to me. Still think it was strange to move him from a yard where he was thriving.
Report festivalfanatic December 29, 2013 10:41 AM GMT
Thought OR ran quite free and seemed to change his legs a few times. Maybe the heavy ground just didn't suit. Ballyalton backers will be hoping he just had an off day!
Report Ibrahima Sonko December 29, 2013 12:11 PM GMT
Disappointing in the end, beaten a long way out.
Report Autocue December 29, 2013 12:20 PM GMT
Disappointing run. Looked a proper horse when trained by Harry Fry.
Report ReaseHeath December 29, 2013 1:40 PM GMT
Would n't give up on him, Jefferson knows how to prepare one for the festival.
Report sintonian December 30, 2013 10:41 AM GMT
There is no guarantee a bumper horse will transfer his ability to hurdles. I wouldn't necessarily say it's the change in stable even though it was an odd decision. In anycase, OR's has still reached a fair level. And don't Challow Hurdle winners have a poor record of winning the Neptune? Maybe getting beat is no bad thing for March.
Report alleged22 December 30, 2013 10:45 AM GMT
didn't al ferof finish a well beaten 3rd in the fog, in this.....
