Module is a horse I’m a big fan of, lightly raced so far and fast improving. Ideally he’ll end up over further than 2m4f but at this stage of his career he’ll stick to the middle distance. So it’s all credit to him that he managed to go down by only half a length to now 164 rated and Tingle Creek 2nd Somersby in the Haldon at Exeter. From that field Cue Card has gone on to win the Betfair Chase and Fago has won a graduation chase since too, holding up the form.
That effort is all the better given the trouble he got into down the back when hampered. The form of that run alone should have him in the low 160’s (a rating supported on a line through Captain Conan’s Jewson & Tingle runs) and given he should improve for the step up in trip I can quiet easily see him running to a 165+ in this. That would require career bests at the weights from all his rivals bar Riverside Theatre. He only needs to repeat the Haldon run to win this and as such poses massive value at 9/2 here.
The main threat could come from Riverside Theatre if he produces anything within half a stone of his best getting weight from nearly all of his Rivals. But Henderson horses have not been running to their best fto this season so it’s unknown what kind of performance he’ll show. But we know he is usually at his best right handed and freshm but may find 2m4f a bit too sharp for him nowadays.

I notice he's just been cut across the board. Is Segal covering this race? Looks like he may have tipped him up if he is. I really rate Captain Chris when going right handed and have it out of the two, as I'm of the belief that Riverside Theatre hasn't been the same since his Ryanair victory. I'd be surprised if anything else won.

Just seen he's 3/1 now!!! I wrote that piece this morning and posted it up to the site when odds came up and I'd backed him.
tbh I'm not surprised he's been cut, should have been fav to begin with based on the Haldon form as Cue Card & Somersby ran superb since and conditions suit him here so well getting weight from the majority. |

I like Riverside Theatre here, I think first time out in good ground over this trip is the time to catch him, wasn't at his best last year but the KG was on horrible ground and he wasn't far off his best at cheltenham behind cue card.
On that line through Cue Card he looks to have a similar chance to Module but I still don't CC was quite at his best that day and I'm starting to doubt the worth of that Tingle creek form as well. So I will go Riverside Theatre at 3s. GL with yours CVB |

Yep jasey, I've already backed him among others for Ryanair early last month. The reasoning was the main market players (at the time) Cue Card, Simonsig & Flemenstar were not certain runners in the race and one or two defect and we've got some big odds value.

Rewatched the Haldon again 3 times there and Module ran a blinder given he was badly hampered and he was outpaced at times and just kept battling back and just failed to get up on the line. Very bullish on him for this. Though he did jump left at a fence and raced wide as I get the feeling he'll be better going left handed.

getting all the allowances, has to be of interest here...didn't have his ground most of last year but is still a proper top notcher... module will need to improve plenty to take his scalp but is going the right way...it has to be remembered he was racing off 152 the last day and the race was a muddling one with cue card not exactly jumping with his usual fluency and somersby an habitual rat beating module...the proximity of kumbeshwar holds the form down for me... as much as i think the jewson was a competitive race i am taking the form with a pinch of salt with captain conan not getting home and dynaste not really turning up on what he had shown previously...the proximity of changing times also puts the form into perspective do tend to agree with OP that module is a horse to follow but seems to me to need everything to fall right and certainly needs to step up to win...getting weight from captain chris a positive and some very exposed types gives him every chance but that is all factored into the price we are getting... very good chance with so much dead wood in the race, so fair shout but i am happy to watch him step up on what he has shown me so far as not convinced by the form lines but no doubting his potential |

Well done if your on at 9/2, good price. The stable form would be my only concern with Module. If the price continues to drift then Captain Chris could be value, Hobbs is flying just now, with plenty winning fto.

I tend to agree with GI MAC, Captain Chris was ready to go three weeks ago before being taken out on the morning of the race at Ascot so should be fit enough, his form was pretty consistent last season despite never encountering the good ground he's done most of his winning on.
The problem is he has to give weight all around. I'm very sceptical about Riverside Theatre ever recapturing his best form but it's possible his Ryanair form from this March might be good enough here given he is getting weight from all but Alasi. I would n't set any store by the breathing operation because Henderson stated the following in his stable tour: 'One always felt respiration had something to do with this loss of performance, despite lack of evidence and so he had a wind operation.' So, to me, it feels like they're guessing a bit in terms of trying to get him back to his best. Module a good bet at 9/2 but I'm not so keen at 11/4 - I see Captain Chris as the most likely winner. |

Typical of Segal to ruin a market before it's even got started, I wondered around 6pm why the sudden shrink in price on Module but makes sense now. I think everyone has summed this race up from my point of view already. I feel it's between Module and Riverside Theatre and it all depends on if Module has improved past Riverside Theatre yet. I'm pretty scpetical as to whether Module has. He's going to be a top horse in graded races over the next few years for sure but his form isn't top notch yet and both the Jewson and Haldon form has question marks next to it.
Bar the 2011 King George apart, Riverside Theatre has never shown his true form over 3 miles. He's quite clearly better over tomorrows conditions on gd ground. If he just runs up to his run in the Ryanair form in March, like others have said then it will be enough to take this race getting 2lbs from Module. I'm willing to give Riverside Theatre one last chance at the prices to show his best form tomorrow. |

I was a bit slow and took 7/2 but that is still looking OK. I am really baffled by the very competitive hurdle that precedes the Peterborough. Several of the favourites have RPR lower than their official handicap mark which is quite unusual. The best RPR is Fergall who is currently 25/1 on here! I have taken a small bit of that and hope to lay it off. Roberto Pegasus looks the best of the shorter prices. Keltus will give us an early chance to rate the 3yo's against the older generations.

Module looks 160 rated, but is giving away 2 pounds to RT, who at his best, is 170 horse. Even his "lacklustre" Cheltenham performance was probably a 160 performance and I expect at least as good a show today. gl

This looks a tricky race.
Riverside Theater loves the conditions of todays race and he ran well enough in the Ryanair last season. His other two runs were on Soft & Heavy which may not have suited if he was suffering from breathing issues/ulcers. Module is a nice horse in the making. Connections decided to forgoe his nice handicap mark and miss the Paddy Power because they felt he was not ready for a race like that, hence sticking to smaller fields for the time being. A classy horse in the making but needs to show it, improve his jumping. I'm not sure the form of the Haldon is as strong as being made out as Cue Card won over 26f next time out and Fago bled, hence his poor run. Champion Court ... every time he is beaten connections always seem to have an excuse. But their faith has not waivered. Last time they are saying he suffered from a ''bit of colic'', in which case his run was good given he belted the 3rd last. Captain Chris loves these conditions too but has the penalties. Ghizao ? More miss than hit but has a chase, as does Alasi. Gun to head would give Riverside a chance under conditions of race. GL all. |

very tricky indeed but have put a bit of time in now and feel champion court is not a bad price and worth a small poke...horse has just been a tad unlucky but conditions ideal today and he has traveled like the best horse in a couple of top races before stamina has come into play...anyway well worth a small play in a tight race for me...
riverside getting weight from all will take a world of beating if returning to his best am quite keen to get this module now at these prices very tight indeed |

What a great and funny race that was! CC ran a stormer from the front. RT jumped poorly and laboured but picked them up at the finish. Module very disapointing, albeit against some good horses. He might needed softer ground. |

RT showed courage and guts in abundance.
It's beyond me how any bookie can cut his odds from 25/1 to 14/1 for a Grade 1 over three miles in two weeks time after a desperately hard race like that. |

Well done Riverside Backers. Module was flat out the whole way, he needs further and I think he needs a more galloping and left handed track. He kept on all the way to the line. Happy enough with that run.
Riverside will find it tough to keep Captain Chris behind at Kempton. |

After that race today, Module should be running over 3 miles exclusively. It looked fairly obvious from the way he finished the Jewson but he got outpaced today badly.
I thought my money was done on Riverside Theatre but the fact he was getting all the allowances is what won him the race. Won't be backing him again at any kind of price for a Grade 1 as he just isn't the same horse he was a couple of years ago. Cheers for the heads up on Fergall sage as I had a small bit ew at 20s. He was massively overpriced when you tie in the form with Roberto Pegasus/Vibrato Valtat and the fact that Fergall beat Vibrato Valtat giving him 5lbs at Newton Abbot back in May with Big Casino who is now rated 125 a further 30lengths back. Good work sage  |

Henderson did n't seem too keen on going to Kempton on Boxing Day with RT but the owner has a day off so it's an opportunity to showcase his massive ego and new hair.

disappointing champion court saddle slipped...
module for me now falls in a tough bracket, rated 157 he is not going to be easy to place today was a good opportunity to step up on what he had previously shown, he didn't and was disappointing, he now will be difficult to place off his current mark...soft ground maybe needed but now has plenty to prove form/class wise class and jumping against better individuals was always going to be the big question today on better ground and he was put in his place by some decent enough 160 horses he is thought to need small fields, maybe he needs to go left handed/soft ground but opportunities will be hard to find and tricky enough on what seems a stiff mark on all known form it will be interesting to see how he is campaigned for the rest of the season but it won't be easy for him |

I understand the reaction to the RT win but I recall that he did a very similar thing when winning a Ryanair. He always finishes strongly. Capt Chris ran really well at the weights but module spent much too much time in the air on the first circuit and that told in the end.

harry - Module was flat out the whole way, 2m4f on a flat track on good ground was too sharp for him. He also stayed away from the rail on the outside because he has a tendency to jump left at times (he did so at Exeter). He's still young and very lightly raced. I'd like to see him step up in trip and go left handed next.
But as you say, he's hard to place now as he'll have to give weight away if he runs in a handicap. Maybe he could go for the 2m5f h/c chase at Cheltenham in January if there is a low 160s horse entered. |

A fair few fancied Champion Court for the PP but not fit enough that day, then today saddle slipped , looks like he may have run well in the KG but can't really see him taking his chance now , but you never know
