When he arrives at Cheltenham next year will his biggest disadvantage be his jockey? I'm still convinced things would of been different had Barry Geraghty ridden him in the supreme, the front two definitely had first run on poor Robbie power. Any chance tony will jump off my tent or yours? I think Sunday is a huge day for jezki's season but he could ruffle a few feathers in my opinion this year but would need too have the right man on his back.

I think the lack of a prep run was more detrimental tbh.
Report judorick November 14, 2013 1:53 PM GMT
it's a lesson Mrs Harrington has consistently failed to learn, same thing with Steps To Freedom who also did not get a prep run

Tizzard did the same mistake with Cue Card

Does`nt get up the hill, could farm a few graded races in Ireland leading up to Cheltenham though.
Report Mr Mischief November 14, 2013 6:33 PM GMT
Not against Hurricane Fly he won't
Report mactheknife November 14, 2013 6:38 PM GMT
Hurricane Fly is vulnerable this season, early Champion Hurdle odds tell a story compared to previous years.
Report Mr Mischief November 14, 2013 7:02 PM GMT
He won't be beat on his home patch. 14 Grade ones will account for that. Throw in a couple of Champion hurdles to boot and I reckon Jetzki has a wee bit of catching up to do, not to mention the rest
Report Arklearkle November 14, 2013 7:12 PM GMT
HFs odds were really no different last year as per usual we were being told that there were all these wonderful new(ish) kids on the block. The bookies love it. Jezki may not in fact handle Cheltenham. Beaten at two festivals but admittedly against the best.
Report buddeliea November 14, 2013 7:20 PM GMT
Sooner or later HF becomes vulnerable,i think this season it could well happen, not sure Jezki is the one to take advantage yet though, but of course its possible.

Was he 11/2 at this stage of the game last year m8?
Report Arklearkle November 14, 2013 10:58 PM GMT
Yes he was 5s to 6s and remained at those prices well into the new year as far as I can remember.
Report brandyontherocks November 14, 2013 11:35 PM GMT
I think HF is very vulnerable this year.

Another year older and maybe better opposition.

My Tent Or Yours is my thinking to be the one to beat.

Thought he looked a monster of a horse.

A tank i tell you, A TANK

Out of the Morgiana.
Report Graeme83 November 15, 2013 11:59 AM GMT
Sensible thing to do from the Jezki team. Let Mullins aka the Oirish Howard Johnston run horses against himself.
Report buddeliea November 15, 2013 12:44 PM GMT
About as near a walkover you could get on sunday for HF.
Was quiet excited when I saw the original entries...oh wellSad
Report buddeliea November 15, 2013 1:04 PM GMT
HURRICANE FLY'S attempt to set a new world record for Grade 1 victories in Sunday's Morgiana Hurdle at Punchestown was made significantly easier on Friday as main rival Jezki was not declared.

The two-time Champion Hurdle winner spearheads a strong team for Willie Mullins in the race, with stablemates Marito, Midnight Game and Mikael D'Haguenet also declared. Akatara completes the line-up.

STRONG Laugh

Jezki now going for the Hattons Grace over 20f, likely opponents Solwhit, Annie Power, Zaidpour, all with proven stamina. Odd decision imvho.

They are running scared of the Fly alreayWhoops
Report Mr Mischief November 15, 2013 4:17 PM GMT
already
Report Graeme83 November 15, 2013 4:24 PM GMT
I don't think they're running scared. Jezki is a long term prospect, and still only 5. If he makes it to the festival with some wins behind him, he will be 6 versus HF at 10. HF is obviously a multiple winner, so there's no great point in taking him on right now.
Report Arklearkle November 15, 2013 11:25 PM GMT
Graeme you have written many sensible bits on here and like the rest of us you have written some not so clever but your post of 11.59 takes the biscuit. Your credibility as a serious poster has just sunk to absolute zero. Reim probably sums it up just right.

Cool
Report Eeternaloptimist November 16, 2013 12:59 PM GMT
Sad to see Jezki not running. I'm definitely in the baton passing camp this year even if it doesn't come whilst he is in Ireland. To a point Hurricane Fly got a little lucky at Cheltenham last year and it's still not his course which just shows how great a horse he is.
Report ReaseHeath November 16, 2013 2:10 PM GMT
perhaps the boss man needs AP at Cheltenham and did n't want to put anybody else up on Jezki just now.
Report sintonian November 17, 2013 2:51 PM GMT
Pfft.
Report Tucho November 17, 2013 6:17 PM GMT
shame jessica bottled it

step him up in trip next, get beat off a stayer, put him away for winter, see him again in march when he's undercooked for the festival, sounds like a plan to me Silly
Report Arklearkle November 17, 2013 8:20 PM GMT
I never expected either jezki or our connor to take him on in the Morgiana but it was their best chance of beating him and they missed the opportunity.
Report paulie wallnuts November 18, 2013 8:02 PM GMT
the chances of jezki turning up in the hattons grace......are the same as frankel running in the race.......a two year old child could tell ya......that's a load of old bollloxx......
why did they not just tell the truth.......what difference would it make......even just say it had a little setback.....and was missing the race.......no big deal.....instead they concoct a story that nobody that knows anything would believe......
its the same as pipe saying dynaste will skip the king George......and go for the welsh national instead.....
Report sintonian November 19, 2013 8:12 AM GMT
what story? I thought they just said they decided to skip it and go for the Hattons Grace?
Report sintonian November 19, 2013 3:10 PM GMT
According to todays stable tour in the RP, both Jezki & Our Conor will run in the Ryanair hurdle at Leopardstwon, Dec 29th. Likely next target for HF, too.
Report paulie wallnuts November 19, 2013 5:16 PM GMT
the horse worked terrible sintonian.......that's why it didn't run.......1000/1 it runs in the hatton grace......don't see the reason for the cloak and dagger stuff.......and the hattons grace nonsense......
Report sintonian November 19, 2013 5:47 PM GMT
when did they say that?
Report Arklearkle November 19, 2013 5:56 PM GMT
They probably wont take on HF at Christmas either - they will have had too much Christmas pud or something else.
Report sisyphus November 19, 2013 6:37 PM GMT
When McCoy got off him he said he just kept pulling out more and more, was idling but felt he would have picked up had he been joined and that maybe a step up in distance could suit. The Hattons Grace as been won in the past by CH types.
Report sisyphus November 19, 2013 6:43 PM GMT
Hattons always small fields 5/6 runners.

What a ride from Barry. Key was to switch him off. What might have been last year if Barry had taken the ride.

Delighted to see him win yesterday having been a fan for so long.

Barry said the hood made the difference as it got him to settle better

yep, and those tactics employed last time in Ireland were all wrong.
