There are so many if and buts about so many of the runners in the Temple Stakes that for me this looks a two horse race between SOLE POWER and RECKLESS ABANDON

Sole Power has already won the race and was a neck second last year... and if the ground is riding fast I think it has a fantastic chance to make amends.  Im not sure Murtagh will be onboard as he might be riding in the guineas but have to wait til Thursday for the declarations. But I think his last run was really impressive, although it was nice to see Kingsgate Native get a length close but not sure if that was a one off. But I do feel Sole Power should be on any shortlist.

Reckless Abandon unbeaten on 5 starts and having won 4 group races including 2 group 1s. Interesting he reverts back to 5f as connections clearly see him as sprinter rather than a guineas type.  The only issue I have is that the horses he beat last season, have not done much this season, for example Moojahim and George Vancouver.  So hoping this horse has trained on.  But on form should have the beating of most of these bar Sole Power.

For me its a tough choice between the two but RECKLESS ABANDON just edges it.

What do you think?

Sole Power for me,but as you have stated the ground is main concern.I would rather wait till the day of the race to back him
because of this

They decided a couple of months back that RA was a sprinter not a Guineas horse. They didn't even bother running him in a trial over 7f to find out. I don't think RA has raced on proper Good to Firm before so we'll see how he gets on.

Unless he turns out to be hindered by a terrible draw or has very bad luck in runninng I'd make Sole Power a very clear favourite.

The weather forecast looks dry and bright in the main so at 7/2 (I'd have thought 7/4 was more like the right price at this stage) it's maximum stake time for me - and if that doesn't get him beat nothing will.Cry

berry is riding sole power.

Kingsgate Native has excellent C&D form in the past but he wants it no softer than good so I will wait before betting

but if I was guaranteed the going, 16/1 with Boyles is huge

Bl00dy unreliable though isn't he? Rarely runs two races the same.
Report judorick • May 21, 2013 1:42 PM BST
that's why you get a good price
Report TheJudge • May 22, 2013 10:44 PM BST
I have to agree with judo, he is a massive price for the fastest horse in the race

he's such a mule with his own ideas about the game but I cannot let him go unbacked at those odds

wouldn't put anyone off Kingsgate Native at those prices but you do have to go back 18 runs and three years for his last success, still place money is ok.

Well done Judo/Judge ...Trainer has done really well with Kingsgate really like the horse and definately has that old sparkle back... Sole Power shocking run... considering he had Firm in the going...

shoulda read this thread rease Crazy

seriously though how anyone would rule it out is difficult to fathom
Report ReaseHeath • May 25, 2013 8:15 PM BST
ruled out on age and stable form (I know sprinters mature with age!)

Hands up, guilty of underestimating Cowell but won't make that mistake again.
Report judorick • May 26, 2013 1:47 AM BST
stable has been on blinding form

the age I give you but Bordlescott was winning group races at 10

ah well, all adds to experience
Report sintonian • May 26, 2013 10:11 AM BST
wd chaps.

Good run from RA in 3rd.
Report ReaseHeath • May 26, 2013 1:38 PM BST
stable 0-13 in 2 weeks prior to yesterday....not blinding form the way I read it.
