Nicholls has a fantastic record in this race and the KNOXs has to be respected, but seems quirky to me having a few good runs ... a few bad ones... and the odd fall... I think its price is reflected by the trainers record in the race, there is also PASCHA DU POLDER, lightly raced 6yr old but his previous runs fail to convince me he will run well.
I do like BIG FELLA THANKS at 9/1 ... I expect him to be there or thereabouts... but reckon the weight will tell... as no winner has had more than 11st 5 in the last 10 years, so we can exclude Ballabriggs as well.
Also noting that in the last 10 years on only one horse over the age of 9 has won this race... so ill put a line accross the older brigade ...
There are 3 lightly raced 6yr olds PEPITE ROSE,TONY STAR and GARYNELLA
I reckon this GARYNELLA is very interesting french import, in his last run was 33l behind shooters wood, but was his first run of the season. I reckon this horse has been laid for this race, and with 10st 2 on his back and Tom Scudamore on board... we may get another demolition job.
I have to admit that I dont know much about this horse... but Pipes have won 2 renewals of this race in the last 10 years and they know what takes to win a race like this, but reckon this will go off short priced favourite on the day.
2 miles 4 on good to soft at Newbury is ideal for Michael Flips, back to 137 his last winning mark, got beat 2 lengths at level weights by For Non Stop over C&D and that one now rated 160+
12/1 with victor, 356, squareblue
expect him to run better than his odds

Garynella... seems to be cut most places ... so atleast contraction of price is a positive... will eagerly await trainers comments for this tommorrow...

There was NOTHING in his run at Cheltenham to suggest that this 2m4f trip is what he needs.
I'm with judorick on this one.....MICHAEL FLIPS is overpriced.
