Over the moon hes gone up only 9, i put it at 10!
![]() 11st is perfect for this race, as above poster said, (on the other thread) hes a young horse going places and i think he may well be spot on for Newbury. Though winning this hard held would be some performance i dont think he would be quite up to that somehow. He only beat trees last time after all, but did just canter round too !What price will he be for the supreme if he does win hard held One things for sure, Jezki would then be 2nd fav ! |
|
By:
He won't win this hard held. I think people are being a bit flippant about his mark of 149.
|
|
By:
Of course he won't, he'll do well to win imo and certainly too short.
Hope he runs to above his mark to prove his quality for Supreme but even if he does, there's plenty in the race who are improving and have a good few lbs in hand. And have to say PW hasn't made a bad shout at the prices regarding Punjabi. For me I'm going to wait until final decs to see field, weights and ground |
|
By:
Henderson quoted in RP today as saying 9lb rise for MTOY is harsh, he's no certainty to run, he'll have to speak to JP and he likes Punjabi for the race (which may have given PW the idea!)

Just noticed Nicholls saying he wants to claim off Dark Lover. Form with Dan Breen very strong and Durham has won a Greeatwood and December Chase for him.

Anyone know which horses were withdrawn yesterday, cannot find anything in WEEKENDER or RACING POST?

Thanks BJG.

Only 6 withdrawals, very surprising!!!

By:
Pear Swan ran well enough in the jumpers bumper. An unorthodox prep though.
|
|
By:
Quite like Claret Cloak aswell off 136 and if one with no weight was to win i think Claret Cloak would be the most likely.

Ante-post favourite My Tent Or Yours features among a field of 23 runners declared for the ultra-competitive Betfair Hurdle at Newbury on Saturday.
The JP McManus-owned novice has won twice from three starts over hurdles and will be partnered by Tony McCoy as he makes his handicap debut off a mark of 149. Trainer Nicky Henderson has a fine record in the extended two-mile contest, having saddled the likes of Landing Light and Geos to victory in recent years, and My Tent Or Yours is one of six runners for the team this time. The master of Seven Barrows also saddles top-weight Petit Robin, Cash And Go, 2009 Champion Hurdle hero Punjabi, Lyvius and First In The Queue. Champion trainer Paul Nicholls won the race for the first time with Zarkandar 12 months ago and this year has three representatives in Dark Lover, Pearl Swan and Caid Du Berlais. David Pipe runs prolific winners Swing Bowler and Home Run, as well as the talented Ronaldo Des Mottes. Top novice Cotton Mill is a major contender and makes his first start of the season for John Ferguson. Other interesting participants include Gordon Elliott's Irish challenger Cause Of Causes, Emma Lavelle's Claret Cloak and the Evan Williams-trained Court Minstrel. |

Swing Bowler anyone?

Looked to have a fair bit in hand on New Years Day. Went a bit under the radar?

Pearl swam still a steal at e/w odds imo..

I'm very encouraged by Dark Lover's RPR which, after his rider's claim, makes him still look well treated and I thought he was the ideal type for this after thrashing Dan Breen into 3rd at Cheltenham in December. Only once out of first 2 and could be very good plus Nicholls' record in big races with claimers on is very good.
