Unbeaten in three starts at two, most recently in the 2011 Richmond Stakes at Glorious Goodwood, the Acclamation colt has been troubled by injury and has missed several possible comeback outings during the spring and summer.
His future now lies in the hands of joint-owners Robin Heffer and Sheikh Fahad's Qatar Racing Limited.
"I don't think he'll run again but there's not much more I can say - it's up to the two owners to reach a decision about what to do," said Hannon.
"We've tried our best and maybe we'll get him back next year, but I don't know what's going to happen at the moment."
