What a hard race this is with quite a few in with chances, having gone through the form it appears that OCEANWAY may just be a fair bit overpriced. Its true its been a bit of a let down this season but its a decent sort in its own right and as with Gramercy at York the other day there could be reasons why its not shown its best so far.

The ground and the trip may not of helped on a number of occasions and this could be another thats been primed for a meeting the trainer likes, its drawn one which is not so bad, its a 4yo and so its got a little bit left in the tank perhaps, its also won off a 5lb higher mark and its also run well at the course and the distance and going combination may assist this time, 25-1 and overpriced, trainer has three in the race including the progressive Landaman which is around 10-1 but OCEANWAY is a tasty looking price ew with luck in running it may outrun its odds and the trainer has well turned the corner now.

Best wishes,

MANUEL

Been looking at Oceanway and could defo see it being placed, well handicapped and does appear to run well here, just not sure about winning, although the price does factor that in,been looking at the top end of the handicap as they tend to do well in this,so Retrieve it is for me at the moment, but if Oceanway drifted out more tomoz,i could be tempted, good luckCool

On previous runnings of this race Mark Johnston has triumphed with his high weighted runners and the three runners tomorrow are low weights.
Richard Fahey does well with his low weights and whilst never won this race has taken place money with four of his seven runners.
Apart from Cumani (one win & 2 places from eleven runners) the other trainers have struggled in this race.

One exception maybe Alan Jarvis who brings Right Step back to Goodwood after coming a very close 2nd here two years ago. A handful of hurdlers have won this but the Epsom win in class 2 race is the bogie.
That bogie will also apply to Dandana and Licence To Kill, as no winner in last 20 or more years has won a B class race in current year.

The positive trends favour a 4yo with C class hcp win in current year but only Don't Call Me (5yo) has accomplished that and he hasn't won over 9f plus like 20 of the past winners since 1989.

Over the last 30 years only three horses that didn't place in current year have won so that may rule out Kirthill, Kings Gambit, Specific Gravity, Nanton and the well weighted Pivot Man.

Six top weights have won which may bring Retrieve into the picture as this has ran with credit above todays class since a class C win in May. Championship Point won this race with top weight after winning the Ascot Listed Handicap that Retrieve finished a close 5th behind Gatewood.  On the other hand a good case can be made for stablemate, Start Right, who has ran very well here on both occasions.

It's never the type of race you can rarely confidently anticipate the winner.
