ASCOT 1.35

Not a race that really merits a huge interest, but its competitive and it could be that we see a return to form of APOSTLE dropping into a much easier race than perhaps its used to, may represent some value and one of the few in the race who could actually have some improvement left in it, the draw is an unknown of course, its tentative but it may have an ew squeak.

ASCOT 2.45

PRINCE ALZAIN may be a really decent ew bet in this race at around 12-1, it had decent form up until its last race and if thats forgiven then the race it ran at Epsom suggests that it has enough talent to shake these up and the booking of Dettori is also interesting, this is a decent race though with many in with chances, again ew shout at 12-1.

ASCOT 3.55

In this race i think you have to give yourself a chance with a couple and the draw could play a huge part in the outcome, firstly although CASTLES IN THE AIR is not in the best of form it always runs well in this race, its going to run off 7lb lower than when winning in 2010 and its 5lb lower than when beaten 3l last year so on that alone it merits consideration at a big price so theres the first one.

Now for the one i really like and to be honest i was a little shocked when i noticed the price of around 40-1 the horse in question is VAN DER ART a 3yo running in this off a very light weight.

Its form this season is quite good but it has one huge stand out piece of form that gives it a great chance if it was able to reproduce that level and that was when 3l or so behind gosdens group one horse GREGORIAN in receipt of only 4lb.

That horse has been beaten since less than a length in three group one races so that indicates the potential of Van Der Art, furthermore in Van Der Arts  next race its tried to give weight away to a decent type and they finished well clear of the third, finally in its last race it maybe actually better than the result actually shows.

Race dont come harder than this one, with the number of runners and the draw etc but this one rates super value based on its form, whilst Castles in the Air is more of a standing dish, they will need a bit of luck but then so will all the others.

To get anything placed in the first and then the international will take some picking so best of luck regardless.

To be more serious  Jockeyship is very important in seven furlong races ,Richard Hughes as i recall won it  a couple of years ago on Castles in the air , gave it a great ride  and  Raul de silva is a promising rider  so has every chance off a few pounds lower ,his owner Jim Mcgragh  is a very patient man ,trained by Fahy  all the ingredients are there for a good run if the ability is still intact at the age of seven

Well having misse dout on last weeks 80-1 treble i thought i would do a double with Apostle and Van der Art, the first beaten on the line and then the latter beaten when sitting in the stalls and lost 10 lengths or the start having been backed from 40-1 to 16-1 before the race, one to watch and it goes to show how things can go against you
