Run on the same day as the Stewards Cup.

Leading contenders according to Betfair

Izzi Top
Giofra
The Fugue
Maybe
Was
Nahrain
Snow Fairy
Im A Dreamer

One or two outsiders to consider.

As far as I am aware John Gosden has said both The Fugue and Izzi Top will be aimed here, but that might change depending on what the ground is. If it is GF then The Fugue sure to run I would think, and Izzi Top looks ideal for it eitherway.

Not sure if Giofra will come back over, but it is perfectly possible.

Snow Fairy was beaten in this last year behind Midday. Not seen her yet.

Nahrain ran awful lto, odds went from 4/1 opening show to 13/2 in the space of about 3 minutes!

Maybe disappointing in the Falmouth, but one or two suggesting she may have needed the run due to the trainers gallops being waterlogged!

Sint I think the reason she ran poorly in in the Falmouth was because of the ground - it might be that AOB felt she needed a run so that's why he let her take her chance.

10F on good ground or better will be perfect for her but looking at the weather doesn't look like we'll ever get it again. No doubt she's a risky proposition but given those conditions I'd be happy to play...obviously depending on the price.

In saying that he is likely to have a small team for Goodwood, AOB did confirm that the Nassau was being considered for Maybe

I think you can afford her an excuse or two but they are running out for sure. Her rating has gone from 116 to 107 this season.

Giofra is OUT, confirmed by trainer.

I have had a small play on here for her ( going against my previous comment about AOB's horses AP )

If it is good ground or quicker I think, with the trip imo her optimum, everything will be in place to run to her best and it remains to be seen if that is good enough

Nahrain is on course to run in the £185,000 Group One Markel Insurance Nassau Stakes, which takes place over just shy of a mile and a quarter on the final day of Glorious Goodwood.

Nahrain: Looking to get back on track at Goodwood

Live horse racing resultsRacecards and formLatest non-runnersLatest video replaysThe four-year-old progressed into a top-class filly last season, winning the Group One Prix de l'Opera at Longchamp in October, before finishing a close second in the Grade One Breeders' Cup Filly And Mare Turf at Churchill Downs in November.

Trainer Roger Varian is hoping she can bounce back to her best after a disappointing seasonal reappearance in the Group Two Windsor Forest Stakes at Royal Ascot on June 20, when she finished ninth.

Profiles
R Varian Nahrain
Varian, based at Kremlin House Stables in Newmarket, said: "Nahrain is a likely runner in the Markel Insurance Nassau Stakes. She is in great form at home - I am very pleased with her - and we are looking forward to running at Goodwood.

"We were disappointed with her at Royal Ascot, but ultimately it was her first run for a long time. We got no cover and she just ran a little bit fresh and that told in the last furlong.

"We were disappointed with the run at the time, but we are seeing all the right signs at home now and hopefully she can go and put in a better performance at Goodwood.

"I think the step back up in trip at Goodwood will be in her favour. It's the trip she won over in France and has achieved her highest level of form, so it should suit her.

"She is quite versatile in regards to ground as she has won on good to soft and good to firm. Ideally, we wouldn't want too firm but I don't think it will be.

"We hope she can progress into an even better filly this year. It would be nice to think we could have a programme consisting of the Prix de l'Opera and the Breeders' Cup again, but she will have to run better than she did at Ascot."

The Markel Insurance Nassau Stakes regularly attracts a top-quality field and the 24 entries for this year's race include five-time Group One scorer Snow Fairy, recent Group One Pretty Polly Stakes winner Izzi Top and Investec Oaks heroine Was.

A good horse obviously and the trip far better than at Ascot but personally would not back her on better than gs - at this level she needs to get her toe in

Will Snow Fairy run, can't find any news about her?
Report sintonian July 30, 2012 12:08 PM BST
No, shes not ready according to trainer.

Thanks Sint, hope the setback is nothing serious as want to see her out here again.

^^^ No set back, just not ready for this according to trainer.

Thanks - saw that earlier. I hope she remains sound and makes it to the start in December.

So is Johnny G still intending on running both fillies??Am I missing someth here lads or does anyone else think Izzi top is massively overpriced at 3.2??

An improving group 1 winning filly on soft, group 2 winner on good, stable absolutely flying against Nahrain(ok also a group 1 winning filly but a major flop on only run this season in a group 2)and a couple of unexposed 3yo fillies with still some potential, but perhaps could be argued limited? How many runners will there be 6/7??

She looks closer to a 5/4 shot to me than 9/4??

When will I learn? CryLaughLaugh

Interesting they run WAS just 13 days after the Oaks. 2f shorter on quicker ground. Think she could be value around 13/2. I think there is some rain due tomorrow which will be against her and The Fugue.
Report sintonian August 3, 2012 9:09 PM BST
My internet running slower than John Prescott at the momemnt.
Report roobuck August 3, 2012 9:26 PM BST
Think it's called the Olympics sint

Had a small play on Timepiece - wont mind any rain and she and Was might have it their own way up front. Cecil horses running out of their skin at the moment and if he has got her back to her best, not a 14/1 shot.

Favourite will be very hard to beat however.
