The Prix Jean Prat is a Group 1 race run over 1600 metres (approx. 1mile) at Chantilly. It is open to 3 year old colts and fillies. This year’s race is scheduled to be run on Sunday 1st July. Previously the race was run over 1800 metres changing to it’s current distance in 2005. Consequently, for trends purposes, we will concentrate on the last 7 runnings of the race. British trained runners have a fair record over the years . There were consecutive British winners in 2009 and 2010 with Lord Shanakill and **** Turpin. The last Irish trained winner was in 1980 when Vincent O’Brien’s Night Alert was successful. Key Trends – Look for runners who – - have won a Group Race - have won over a distance of at least 7 furlongs. - finished in the top 3 last time out - are drawn in stall 4 or above - have run between 2 – 4 times this season - finished 2nd or 3rd in the St James’s Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot - ran in the English or French 2000 Guineas - are priced at 5/1 or under in the betting
The French Derby had an awful lot of hard luck stories having viewed the race umpteen times Sofast to me looked the most unluckiest loser of them all, the horse never even had a race. I know horses that looked unlucky are often not as unlucky as you think, but at the prices Sofast looks huge value.

The commentary is pretty awful, but have a look at the Goldikova colours with the white cap, and see what you think?
