You're right, Pete, the ton at bottle on was not mine (and I'm never satisfied )!  Most unusually for an odds-on fav, he's already a good winner in the book - so I'm leaving him well alone and might, for once, actually end up cheering on the long range ante-post fav and not relying on some no hoper to bail me out....although it won't stop me trying to catch a wave on the darkies and, no doubt, giving most of it away

Great Heavens' promised entry in the Leger has livened the betting up a bit.
This really could be a much better race than it's been for a good few years.

Camelot 8/11 on here. The entries were only out this week, so why is he drifting so much?

He is the same price on here as he was 2 weeks ago.

Don't think he'll run myself.

Are there rumours about Camelot? Someone matched 4 quid at 2.90 and there were a few bets matched at 4/5 here recently.
I know the amounts are small but it still makes you wonder.

What's going on with Noble Mission's price?
Backed at 15.5 after the Gordon Stakes and now out to 65!

I think the intention is still to go to York and perhaps St Leger so I don't think its a non runner issue at this stage. Personally though I would be surprised to see him turn up.

There was a concern about him staying 12F before Goodwood and I for one would have Encke reversing places over 14F. It seems that Thomas Chippendale is the main stable hope for the race and hence only one race between Ascot and Doncaster, and interesting that the race chosen is the Voltigeur. I see no reason why Noble Mission would reverse Ascot places.

To go Gordon and Voltigeur before the St Leger is an unusual prep and whilst he may still run, his price may be more of a reflection of the market's opinion of his chance. If he were to run then obviously the price is too big

Gordon & Voltigeur used to be the classic preparation for the late developing stayer as a St.Leger preparation a few years ago - there were a few I remember did the double, and the ones I can remember are Prince Bee & Electric...showing my age now

FWIW, I figure Noble Mission's got as good a chance as Camelot in lasting out the trip, though obviously the latter has that extra bit of class - it didn't help Shergar though

Every season...MOST of the St.Leger candidates have stamina concerns, as the March Stakes is probably the only recognised trial over a sufficient distance, though over the last decade or so, that race has degenerated

I see the 65's has gone...I took the 50's yesterday for just over £13 which is enough for my budget - I couldn't resist, and unless there are concerns about his well-being, I should be able to offload that at around 20 (that's my £13 there) when he's CONFIRMED for the Voltigeur.

I'm far from convinced he will stay and I agree that Encke has the better prospects of the pair over the longer trip.
