So have I, head.
I wonder if STOUTE'S poor season 2011, gave us a VERY false impression?

Shaping up to be a cracker of a race IF they all line up.

SNA
Sea Moon
CDA (if OK)
Danedream

Get the impression from trainer Dunaden will have a go.

Not even mentioned Camelot or Imperial Monarch yet.

What about HM's poke Valyra?

3-1 favourite Sea Moon was an impressive winner of the Hardwicke Stakes at Royal Ascot under a confident Ryan Moore ride.

Testosterone set out the early pace and turning for home the challengers were stacking up behind her.

However none had any answer as Moore unleashed the Sir Michael Stoute-trained winner down the centre of the track and he swept clear in a matter of strides.

Melbourne Cup one-two Dunaden (9-2) and Red Cadeaux (9-1) came through for second and third but the winner had flown, Sea Moon going on to score by three-and-a-quarter lengths.

Sky Bet halved the winner in price to 10-1 for the Arc and introduced Dunaden to their betting at 20s.

An unlucky third in last year's Ladbrokes St Leger, Sea Moon had been only workmanlike on his reappearance at Goodwood last month, scraping home from Dandino in a Listed race.

Stoute said: "I was disappointed with his performance at Goodwood, but there was mitigation for it. Today he settled nicely and picked up so well - I'm thrilled with him.

"It was tight with two (furlongs) to run at Goodwood - Ryan said he was never going to get beat, but I wasn't so sure. Ryan said he couldn't ride him like that again, he doesn't want to be in front. He will come back here for the King George."

Moore said: "I thought he might have his work cut out but I was delighted with him. He travelled smoothly and picked up real well.

"He progressed as the season went on last year and hopefully he will again, but this was a very good performance."

Teddy Grimthorpe, Abdullah's racing manager, said: "It would be nice if we have similar ground for the King George."

Dunaden could also head to Ascot next month for the King George on July 21. Trainer Mikel Delzangles said: "He ran a very good race. He was a bit unlucky because he was stuck when the horses slowed up. He quickened very well and the King George is a possibility."

Ed Dunlop was again proud of the laudably consistent Red Cadeaux, who will be primed for another Melbourne Cup bid.

He said: "He ran a very good race. Dunaden has now beaten us three times, and I think he's proved he's the better horse. Hopefully we won't have to bump into him too often. We'll freshen him up and give him one more run before going back to Melbourne."

John Gosden said of the fourth-placed Aiken: "It was a good run and we had to kick on early otherwise he'd have been trapped. We'll freshen him up and look for a race like the Grand Prix de Deauville."

What's the plan with Nathaniel? Last I heard/read was that being started off in the Eclipse

I see from today's RP that Nathaniel back in full work and first target is Eclipse. If he runs well there, the next logical step would be this wouldn't it?

Yes i'd say so, he is the reigning champ.

For me this race revolves around the Going on the day.

Based on his classy defeat of Sea Moon at the Breeders Cup, i'd favour SNA on Good to Firm as it was pretty quick that day. If there is any Soft in the Going description then Sea Moon a massive player, also CDA (provided he recovers) and the likes of Galikova, Danedream, Nathaniel.

The 3yo's dont look that great this year so far over 1m4f, with the exception of Camelot who isn't sure to run??

So whilst I am not putting him in the frame to win, in terms of those who might pitch up I would suggest that Thomas Chippendale is a possibilty.

The Cecil camp clearly have always thought a good deal of the horse who apparently did not winter well. To progress from winning a handicap off 86 to a Group 2, and only in a couple of weeks, shows massive improvement and obviously it's completely unknown how much more there is to come. Whilst the Derby third clearly did not run his race, the 4th and Noble Mission ran virtually to the lb of their previous meeting at Newmarket. That to me gives the form of the King Edward a solid look.

That he ran the race in the first place is a little bit of a surprise given Cecil's normally cautious approach, and he was also in the handicap at the 5 day stage. I get the impression that it was the owner who made the decision and he also wanted a 'big name' jockey to ride, rather than Ian Mongan. TC will need to be supplemented to get in but it would not surprise me given the above, if this happened as he is putting a lot of money in and he does want to have handicappers.

I am sure he is far more likely to be aimed at a St Leger prep and 14s for that is more than fair. It's just this nagging doubt that's stopping me playing him for that race.

As I say on all known form, it would be unreasonable to put him forward as an option to win the race. Unfortunately I can see a situation where there wouldn't be a single 3yo colt running other than from Coolmore

Sea Moon been very impressive but only with some cut in the ground. He's still decent on other ground of course but not quite as impressive.

Agree. He handles quick ground perfectly well, hence his 2nd on Firm at the Breeders Cup. But whether he is at his best on it is debatable.

The problem with the Breeder's Cup race is that apart from SNA, everything else in the race that has run again has let the form down and it wasn't a great race. Sarafina clearly a better horse with give and Midday was well below her best by then.

Don't doubt he handles it as such, but until he proves otherwise, don't think he is up to winning a Group 1 on it

The way this bloody "summer" is going, it will prob be on the easy side.
Dont think there would be much in it between Sea Moon & SNA, or Cirrus des Aigles for that matter. Hope we get a couple of smart 3yos in the mix for the race as well.
Tho they do not look a great crop atm (Camelot aside) 3yos.
Interesting to see how Imperial Monarch gets on in the Ire Derby, he could well be the next best mid/dist 3yo behind Camelot.

Can anyone tell me why the betting was suspended yesterday and is open today?
To the best of my knowledge there was not any withdrawals but not one of the usual suspects has typed out the latest possible field, which normally happens.

There were scratchings (or withdrawals, as you call them).

wouldnt be a good idea for betfair, if they dont take the withdrawels out, just to mark them here with a *, just so we all know on the market,

To be fair the main culprit appear to be the Racing Post.  On their 'live news' the guy's clearly got the scratchings, but can't be @rsed to type them out or write a little story so says their database team will be updating 'shortly' (nearly two hours ago and nothing to show for it so far....).

Yet again your posts have stumped me, bizarre.  If it helps, the scratching window shut yesterday at midday (at which point BF suspended) and Weatherbys released the scratchings today (also around midday), which is the 4th.

What's the problem? Crazy

Why do you ALWAYS want someone else to assist you are you the typical coward?
Let me guess you come from Salford they ALWAYS ask for confirmation from their pals.
You horned in on a spat a few years ago, love to be part of a gang ,eh?
The most recent you supported PETE THE BLOKE in a spat about the ante-post rule
and later YOU tried to stir it up by personal insults, so YOU are the problem!!!!
YOU are a nasty piece of work!!!!!!

The more I look at this race, if Nathaniel runs well on Saturday without being given too hard a time, I think he is the one.

Cannot see anything entered out of the top 3/4 in the betting getting involved. The only possible exception would be if Mr Weld supplemented SOW

Christ, I give up. You are completely off your rocker pal.  I have fought many a lone battle on here, trust me! I'm a cast-iron loner, winkle, so don't worry about me needing a 'gang' Laugh

I sometimes wonder if English is your first language, such is the confusion that seems to reign between us.  The ironic thing is, bizarre, that the majority of the time I'm trying to help you.....but you've got such a poisoned view of the world you can't see the wood for the trees...whether it's me, Pete, other forumites, trainers, jockeys, bookmakers, journos, presenters, owners, breeders....blimey, we're all 'at it' aren't we? Cry

Anyway, I can't have you any more mate.  Not at any price.  I've tried.  I've failed.  You got me beat, old boy Grin The block button's calling.....night night. Sad
