Usually one of my favourite races but this looks lowest quality I can ever recall
By:
Stiff track likely softish ground ,ideal conditions for French Fifteen , connections look to have made
a glaring error by not enetering him and waiting for the Prix Jean Prat on unknown ground. The race looks a bit short on quality but a big field could line up and it will be fascinating to see what happens. |
By:
Lucayan may be good enough to win and may be underestimated in the AP markets.
By:
AOB has 6 entries, i'd expect 3 of those to drop out.
Will Meehan run Most Improved AND Cogito? He made no mentioned of MI running when saying his best bet of the metting was Cogito .. |
By:
For sure it's difficult to believe AOB will run more than 2/3 runners. Meehan may let Most improved run
,the horse appears to like a bit of cut in the ground and didn't have a hard race in France. Maybe he's left the horse in to take a look at the ground and likely field closer to the race or the plan is to pass the race and wait for the Prix Jean Prat. A field of anything between 12 - 17 runners could line up imo with trainers being tempted to run with no obvious star horse in the line up. |

Apologies for the stupid question but do final decs for this come out on Sunday about midday?

I think the 9/2 about Power is a great bet atm the rest don't look huge threats. He's no cert but not a 9/2 shot either? Where are the big dangers?
By:
Think so Lumberg.
I agree MM. I think the market is reading too much into his HQ flop. He quite simply was not fit. At all. I hope he wins again as he is in my TTF list but with the current going Soft I will just let him run. |
By:
I'm not even sure it was the ground at HQ. I saw the Ballydoyle racecourse gallops with Camelot et al and Power ran awfully didn't travel well at all. It was reported he had a setback in the run up to Guineas so wouldn't surprise me if they used the 2000 gns as a good blowout.
By:
Exactly right MM. Can't believe he was so heavily backed on the day at Nmkt, surprised if it was Coolmore money tbh.
By:
To me Power looked very fit pre-race at Newmarket (possibly the fittest in the race) unlike previous AOB
runners in the race which have looked overweight. The booking of Moore and price movement all indicate a very bid run was expected. Moore reported he couldn't handle the surface . If the ground is soft there must be a chance he won't run, maybe they'll declare him and make a decision closer to the race. |

I've been following the weather with this:
http://www.weatherfamily.org/bracknell/ There's no way the ground is soft at the moment. 2.4mm of rain yesterday with 2 dry days before that, not to mention the state of the art drainage system. |
By:
I can not find a reason to oppose Power

Looking at the 5day weather report on teletext in the Ascot area, it looks like sunny weather most of the next 5days, chance of a light shower on Monday.
Hope we start on gd ground at the Royal meeting (fancy Power 1st day.) Any posters on here from the Ascot area, keep us updated please ![]() |

RP 16/9 The going at Ascot remained soft yesterday .Clerk of the course said "We had 9mm of rain
overnight and have had another 1mm since,so we are soft at the moment. The forecast is for blustery showers over weekend but it's quite difficult to predict how much rain we'll get. We were due 2mm-4mm today and got only 1mm, then 1-3mm tomorrow,4-5mm Saturday and 2mm Monday. There is a decent breeze and if we don't get any showers it will dry out quite well.My gut feeling is the same. We're likely to start on the easy side. Tuesday and Wednesday look fine days and the track drains well and will dry quickly given drying conditions. Most of next week looks pretty encouraging." |

what day do you think he said that?

Power escapes a bad draw in St James's Palace. Starts close to rail from stall five. Stablemate Wrote, however, is widest of all in box 16. |

Arnold Layne gave Gabrial 5lb and a beating last time out. Why is Gabrial 14/1 and Arnold Layne 50s?

Good point. Think THEY said it was the ground/track.
Liam, apparently MI lost two shoes in the french race. ![]() |
