Someone suffering from 'delusions of grandeur' does not have insight into his loss of touch with reality. An individual is convinced he has special powers, talents, or abilities. Grandiose delusions are characterized by fantastical beliefs that one is famous, omnipotent, or otherwise very powerful. In colloquial usage, one who overestimates his own abilities, talents, stature or situation is sometimes said to have 'delusions of grandeur'. [from the Wikipedia article on Delusion] Taking credit for having supposedly tipped a 25/1 winner, which he neither backed nor mentioned by name before the race, in order to prove himself uniquely infallible, is a delusional act. It is clear from his pre-race comments on this thread that he was referring to Maybe, not to Homecoming Queen, since his entire thesis seemed to centre on the trainer's desire to provide classic-winning rides for his son Joseph. Arguing with Eric is completely pointless, as he is evidently incapable (due to his delusional disorder) of ever accepting in public that he gets things wrong. |

Eric is surely a wind-up. His previous pick was Kirk St. Moritz - a Walter Mitty type fantasist from the 80s sitcom Dear John. It's odd though just how much work he puts into this act.

Getting it right on this thread is genuine as you saw this weekend and will over the coming 5 years. When people like yourself who got it badly wrong deride this of course there can be a little wind up as a result.

Eric won't admit it, because unlike the rest of us he's incapable of ever admitting that he got it wrong, but his contributions to this thread clearly show that he was trumpeting the chance of Joseph O'Brien's mount (MAYBE), not Ryan Moore's. He did not mention HOMECOMING QUEEN. Neither did he mention BLUE BUNTING in last year's race. We were both on MAYBE (and other runners, including the Godolphin pair), the main difference being that I backed the favourite MAYBE at 33/1 in May 2011 and Eric seems to have backed it months later (at 6/1, was it?).

Thanks for the plaudits lads. After the Derby and Oaks he could easily equal his 2nd best 5 year total of 4 wins in just this one year. Already this weekend doubled the wins of the most recent 5 years when he pnly had 1 early Classic win.

Thanks for all the plaudits for predicting the stable's outstanding early Classic record this year.
As I predicted going for a clean sweep of early Classics they have 'come to themselves' early this year compared to previously. After avoiding a mutiny by dishing out the well backed Oaks winner to a loyal stable jockey this is the big one he wants for his young one. Real credit to the game APOB lets hope he gets the win he must have dreamed of here all his life. His backers also a real credit to racing and its future this Derby win, which seems likely, will be well deserved an amazing 4 from 4 in the Classics.
