Do you mean SYT ?

Would be quite interesting to seem him over a mile actually. Probably the best way he can redeem himself.

Richard Hannon is desperate to get a Group 1 win out of Strong Suit and has a very good record in the Lockinge. SS IS certainly good enough to win a Group 1, but he aint beating Frankel at any price.

The distances between the two will depend on which horse is the fitter.
Report Paddy Hair • April 6, 2012 3:40 AM BST
Not big enough for a working man to back.
Report roobuck • April 6, 2012 11:05 AM BST
I actually think they may run SYT, got nothing to lose if gets beaten by Frankel over 1 Mile.

If he doesn't win I think they'll retire him as his stud value may decrease if gets beaten by Frankel over 10F.

For me, it'll be just a race to watch and savour, may well go to it
Report PeteTheBloke • April 9, 2012 7:41 PM BST
Anyone fancy making a tissue? I've laid Frankel tentatively but I thought there might be some interest
in the other 4yos. I can't imagine SYT getting close over a mile, but I might expect a good show from
Excelebration and some of the others.

But I don't know much.
Report sintonian • April 10, 2012 10:29 AM BST
It's hard to see Excelebration reversing the form with Frankel. The best has already beaten him 3 times. Strong Suit looks the main opposition to me.

Report PeteTheBloke • April 10, 2012 11:17 AM BST
Yeah, I know Sint. It's hard to see him getting beaten. 4/1 on wouldn't attract me, though.

And horses can change from 3 to 4, just as they do from 2 to 3.

Or am I just trying to make this sound like an exciting race?
Report ilikewavingatbuses • April 10, 2012 6:13 PM BST
1.4 frankel
Report PeteTheBloke • April 10, 2012 6:24 PM BST
Well chalk it up in the market them ILWAB. Don't just talk about it Happy
Report sintonian • April 10, 2012 8:06 PM BST
AOB may even decide to run elsewhere than in the Lockinge with Excelebration? Possible.

It's a good race in quality but interms of knowing who wins then we already know the answer so not exciting from that point of view.
Report ash cpfc • April 10, 2012 8:59 PM BST
I'm hoping that a few bookies push the prices out on the day because of the usual questions

Is he as good as when he was 3?

Does he now need further?

SYT was a champion in Oz blah blah blah

For me anything above 1.45 and I'll be re-investing some of last seasons Frankel profits, hopefully building up a decent bank for the Eclipse, International and when he take on Cirrus Des Aigles
Report ilikewavingatbuses • April 11, 2012 1:58 AM BST
frankel 2/5

excellebration7/2 second best miler last season, only horse to give F somewhat of a race.

syt 5/1 suprise winner but still somewhat of an unknown over a mile.top trainer= underpriced?

strong suit 7/1 not as good as canford (better over 7f?), soundly beaten agaisnt him last time.

cityscape  7 ish? would get backed at that price on the back of meydan performance(improved?). dubai bounce?

saamidd is very interesting. destroyed yair hill by 7 over course fto. didnt run race in dewhurst. hes an unknown, best fresh? a horse ive always liked ,very interesting, will do well to beat frankel tho! good race in prospect tbf, frankel is brilliant but little margin for error against these horses imo.
Report PeteTheBloke • April 11, 2012 7:39 AM BST
Thanks ILWAB. Interesting opinions. There's some good value for you in the current market (small money,
but you're not a man to look a gift horse in the mouth).

Or are you one off these NRNB advocates? Happy
Report elisjohn • April 11, 2012 8:14 AM BST
if there is doubts on frankel over 10f, i hope they dont go eclipse, i havent heard about his plans after the lockinge, is he heading to royal ascot or will it be too soon
Report roobuck • April 11, 2012 12:40 PM BST
Yes definitely goes to Ascot - either Queen Anne or POW
Report roobuck • April 11, 2012 12:44 PM BST
And I hope he does go Eclipse. If Camelot is given a Derby prep and he is good as he looked last year, with that being Nataniel's target, the Eclipse could be a belter of a race....a few 'ifs' in there granted
Report ilikewavingatbuses • April 11, 2012 11:29 PM BST
aye pete.

a difficult race to price up tbh. but that wouldnt be far off how i think it should be.

obv saamidd has A LOT to prove but he will be a good horse this season and they were calling him pegasus on the gallops. now im sure hes no frankel but still a nice addition to the field and has some course form.

excell is simply proven miler and has been 2nd to F 3 times. syt has to prove he can mix it at a mile over here and strong suit isnt canford and lacks the scope to beat frankel imo. i think hes better short of a mile too as i said. could be the time to catch frankel if one of them is ready, who knows, training on etc..

crackin race imo. dont wanna see F over a mile after this race tho, enough is enough.
Report PeteTheBloke • April 12, 2012 8:08 AM BST
It would be great if he goes on to be a superstar 10f horse. Or even 12f - now there's a prospect,
even if it's not all that likely.
Report Lance in France • April 12, 2012 3:45 PM BST
Sir Henry Cecil's unbeaten colt Frankel has picked up a "superficial" injury when working in Newmarket on Thursday morning.

Winner of all nine of his starts to date, including the 2000 Guineas, St James's Palace Stakes and Queen Elizabeth II Stakes last season, he was due to make his comeback this term in the JLT Lockinge Stakes at Newbury on May 19.

He had been pencilled in for a racecourse gallop at Newbury next weekend but those plans may now be up in the air.

Frankel has injured his off-fore and will be monitored daily.

In a statement released through owner Khalid Abdullah's Juddmonte Farms operation, Cecil said: "He is such an extravagant mover that he hit himself.

"At this stage the injury looks superficial but he will be kept monitored over the next few days."
Report sintonian • April 12, 2012 3:52 PM BST
Should be able to trade now Pete Excited

Superficial bascially means he has cut his leg, should be fine in a week or so ..
Report PeteTheBloke • April 12, 2012 3:53 PM BST
I'll see if I can get some 1.27

It'll be enough to set Eric off with a tirade of a abuse about arbing effing layer crooks.

Eric will be seething his comments never ring true.
Report PeteTheBloke • April 12, 2012 3:58 PM BST
It might be him wot offered the 1.7 there for a minute. He'll be on slagging Cecil and the sheikh for their
misleading PR soon.
Report ilikewavingatbuses • April 12, 2012 5:43 PM BST
this wouldnt have happened had he run him in the derby.

That is only my opinion hopefully he will be back mid summer.
Report roobuck • April 13, 2012 2:21 PM BST
I know that he is having a second scan ( may be required for insurance purposes ), but is it actually confirmed as missing Newbury and unlikely for RA?
Report geoff m • April 13, 2012 2:25 PM BST
Last backer @ 1.5 thinks not.
Report john92 • April 13, 2012 2:43 PM BST
I didn't hear Matt Chapman, but apart from his comments, there has been nothing said to that effect. We'll need to wait and see. I have planned a trip to London on Lockinge weekend which serves me right for basing plans on the wellbeing of an animal.
Report sintonian • April 13, 2012 4:44 PM BST
Matt Chapman said Teddy Grimthorpe told him he would definitley miss the Lockinge.
Report roobuck • April 13, 2012 4:57 PM BST
He may well miss the race and what Matt Chapman has said is correct.

Have to say just not the right way to do things if this correct and he didn't release a statement or give an interview. Would be very surprised if the news was released this way or perhaps he thought he was saying something to MC in confidence
Report sintonian • April 13, 2012 5:01 PM BST
I think that might be the case Roo. At the time I wondered if Matt was speaking out of turn. It's not his job to break news like that.
Report roobuck • April 13, 2012 5:20 PM BST
And if that is the case his 'special' relationship with HRAC may be over. In fact I don't think it will do MC any good whatever happens.

Just really hope this isn't as serious as certain rumours would have us believe.

Report geoff m • April 13, 2012 5:54 PM BST
Further scan probably next friday.
Did not say he was definetly out of Lockinge(stated highly unlikely) but said he would not be rushed even if it aint serious.
Report PeteTheBloke • April 13, 2012 11:07 PM BST
10.0 offered now. Very sad. I hope he doesn't have to retire. I've been looking forward
to seeing him race again.
Report roobuck • April 14, 2012 10:09 AM BST
Very briefly switched to ATR to watch the last at Dundalk and MC was in the booth.

He actually sounded almost drunk but he wasn't his normal self. I still haven't seen the interview but his feeling was that Teddy was not his normal self either and that it could actually be quite serious.

Of all the 'big' owners, Juddmonte to my mind are the most sporting and the ones that deserve the best of luck here. It wouldn't surprise me if they delayed his stud career and kept him for next year if they felt he needed a season off.

That's obviously very unlikely and like Pete really hope we see him again....but then I'm sure most people feel that way

Report roobuck • April 14, 2012 5:40 PM BST
Was it just twitter rumours? Who knows?

Listened to Teddy on C4 and it said the scan next week was crucial and that if it showed tendon damage then that could be career ending - him mentioning that wasn't the best sign but apparently there was no cut, a good sign I would have thought, and the swelling was reducing.

Personally I'll just wait for an official announcement but there can be no doubt that all concerned are very worried
