AL ZAROONI – OLDER HORSES

Be Fabulous
5M Samum – Bandeira
124111
RPR 111
I like her – she’s good and tough. And the main thing is she’s very relaxed; when they are relaxed they do well in races. She’s already a Group 1 winner and she is a distance mare. There is no plan for her yet but we’ll go for something like the Gold Cup.

Capponi
5h Medicean – Nawaiet
/7-21d11
RPR 119
He runs in the World Cup and then we are looking forward to taking him back to Europe. He’s improving and the way he won the Maktoum Challenge showed a big improvement in him. I was very happy with the way he worked last Saturday. Ahmed [Ajtebi] rides as he has won on him and knows him very well. I think he could be one for the big races at Royal Ascot.

Fox Hunt
5g Dubawi – Kiltubber
4617-11
RPR 118
He’s a nice, tough horse who has run twice over here in Dubai and won twice. I think he’ll run a good race tomorrow in the Dubai Gold Cup and then he’s going back to Europe, but we’ll be a bit easy on him as he’s run a lot and I don’t think you’ll see himearly in the season.

Laajooj
4c Azamour – Flanders
416-220
RPR 108
He’s finished second twice over here in Dubai and won a 1m2f Listed race at Newmarket last year. I think he’s a stayer and am looking forward to him being one of our runners at Royal Ascot.

Monterosso
5h Dubawi - Porto Roca
475/13-4
RPR 118
Mickael [Barzalona] knows him very well and finished third on him in last season’s World Cup. He needed the run when finishing fourth in his prep run for this year’s race and has improved since – he’s moving well. It will suit him if they go a fast pace tomorrow. He’s another one for Royal Ascot, where he has won before.

Ocean War
4g Dalakhani - Atlantic Destiny
5/110RPR
RPR 108
He won a maiden and a Listed race at Newmarket then ran in the Derby. I think he’ll be better this year and he’s one to look forward to in the big distance races.

Opinion Poll
6h Halling – Ahead
21122-2
RPR 120
He could be our best hope for tomorrow [runs in Dubai Gold Cup]. Frankie dismounted from Fox Hunt last time after they beat Opinion Poll and said “next time I ride Opinion Poll” because he put pressure on them in the last 50 yards and that was the horse’s first run. When he returns to Britain he could be the top stayer. He proved that he was a good horse last year when winning twice and second to Fame And Glory in the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot. That could be his target again.

Timeline
4c Elusive Quality - Last Second

RPR 98
I like this horse but he’s like a Ferrari with no wheels – he’s had a pelvis fracture and is never sound. But he’s doing well now and is 100 per cent. We did an easy piece of work over two furlongs and he passed that exam. If he stays sound he will be one of the good horses.

AL ZAROONI – 3YO’s

Discourse
f Street Cry - Divine Dixie
11
RPR 113
She’s a top-class filly. She’s big and they get injured if you push them at two, so we sat back last year to give her a chance to grow and get stronger. She’s doing well now and I think she is more of an Oaks filly, but if we run her in the Guineas she will go straight there – like we did with Blue Bunting last year and she won the race. Either that or we may run her in an Oaks trial.

Encke
c Kingmambo – Shawanda
21
RPR 89
He won his maiden, but when they do that you cannot really say they are Derby horses even if they win by ten lengths. We’ll run him again over 1m or 1m2f, then we can decide if he’s a Derby contender or not.

Falls Of Lora
f Street Cry - Firth Of Lorne
18415-1
RPR 104
She’s improving and doing well. She’s in the UAE Derby tomorrow against the colts and the way she won last time, the turn of foot she showed, surprised me. If she proves herself at the weekend she’ll go for the Guineas.

Gamilati
f Bernardini - Illustrious Miss
2210-11
RPR 114
She is out at the moment, as everybody knows she had a chip removed. She is resting and we haven’t decided exactly what her programme is and where she’s going.

Kinglet
c Kingmambo - Karen’s Caper
331-217
RPR 107
He runs in the UAE Derby tomorrow. He’s really tough but didn’t run his race last time and I wouldn’t say it was due to the distance. We don’t know what happened. We took him home and he was fine.

Kunooz
f Hard Spun – Aviacion
12
RPR 86
I am looking at going for the French 1,000 Guineas with her. If you look back at the race in which she finished second to Falls Of Lora at Ascot, Kieren Fallon was clever on the winner – he stole the race. This is a nice filly and she’s doing well. I can’t say she’s better than Falls Of Lora but she’s a big filly and I think Longchamp will be better for her.

Lyric Of Light
f Street Cry – Suez
111
RPR 113
She’ll go straight for the Guineas without a prep race as she is a sharp filly who has plenty of experience. I went to see the horses with His Highness [Sheikh Mohammed] and Simon [Crisford] two weeks ago and she is doing very well.

Mandaean
c Manduro - Summertime Legacy
11
RPR 114
He’s a Group 1 winner over 10f and I think he’ll go for the Dante. If he does well there we will go to the Derby, but he needs to prove it in England, which is different to France. He has very strong form. He is muscly with light bones and you want horses like that. At this stage he is our main Derby hope, but we have some lightly raced and unraced horses and you never know what might show up.

Minidress
f Street Cry - Short Skirt
14
RPR 95
She was fourth in a Group 3 but was very weak last year. She had a chip taken out and is much better now. There’s a 50 per cent chance she’ll run in the Guineas. She looks like she’s going to be a distance filly but I like to have quantity and quality in the 1,000. She’s really good and I like her.

Swedish Sailor
c Monsun – Epitome
1
RPR 84
He’s one of the best colts I have in the yard, judging by the way he won last year and the way he has improved this year. We did a piece of work with him and it was very good – he’s really doing well. He’s bred to stay but I’m not sure what his distance will be. He has won a maiden so has it to prove, but if he won a Listed or Group 2 race, we can say we have a Derby horse.

Zip Top
c Smart Strike – Zofzig
1632
RPR 111
We’ve sat back with him because he has been slow to come to hand, so we have given him a bit of time. There’s no plan but he’s a stayer. He’ll be one for the second half of the season.

SUROOR - OLDER HORSES

African Story
5g Pivotal – Blixen
423-131
RPR 117
He’s improving all the time. It was a big surprise for a lot of people here in Dubai when he beat Musir, who had been unbeaten in his last three races. He won well and did it nicely. He’s come back sound and healthy. He’s running over the right trip in the Godolphin Mile this weekend and he has a good chance. I like him a lot.

Colour Vision
4g Rainbow Quest - Give Me Five
485133
RPR 113
He used to be with Mark Johnston and he finished third in a Group 3 2m race behind Fame And Glory. We’ll keep him at that distance. He’s improving, he’s doing well physically and we’re looking to see better results in the future.

Delegator
6h Dansili - Indian Love Bird
8/1590-1
RPR 123
He won a Group 2 over 6f at York last year but after that we were disappointed with him. He always runs well fresh and we’ve given him a gap between his win here and his run in the Duty Free [tomorrow]. He runs over 1m1f but when he was three he was second over a mile in the Guineas. We’ll sit him in behind, nice and relaxed, and he has a good turn of foot. If he runs well and finishes the race strongly we could look at 1m1f or 1m2f races for him.

Hunter’s Light
4c Dubawi – Portmanteau
813611
RPR 116
He was a three-time Listed winner last year and he’s a tough horse who always tries his best. We gave him a break after his last run as he’d been busy and had hard races. Physically he’s improved and I hope he can go for Group races this year. I think 1m2f is the best trip for him.

Khawlah
4f Cape Cross – Villarrica
213/11
RPR 111
She won the UAE Derby last year and then had a setback and was unsound so we gave her time – there was no point running her. Now she’s back sound and healthy and we’re looking to find a race to start her off, but she’s doing good so far. It could be 1m to 1m2f and she could have one race before Royal Ascot.

Laatafreet
4c Singspiel - Cerulean Sky
2/1
RPR 99
I like him. He did well last year but he was a bit weak. I think he’ll be a better horse this year. He’ll go 1m2f or 1m4f no problem.

Ley Hunter
5h Kingmambo – Lailani
464013
RPR 118
He used to be with Andre Fabre and he’s a Group 3 horse. I like him and we’ll try to find 2m races for him in Europe. He’ll be a nice horse for staying races.

Lost In The Moment
6g Danehill Dancer – Streetcar
232746
RPR 115
We’ve gelded him since he was sixth in the Melbourne Cup. He’s gained weight and physically he looks much better. He worked 5f this morning and went really well. I’m more positive about him this year than ever. We’ll find races for him over 1m4f-plus and if he stays sound and does well he could go back to Melbourne.

Man Of Action
5g Elusive Quality - Dixie Melody
6610-68
RPR 107
He runs in the Lincoln. He used to run in a visor but this time he’ll have blinkers on for the first time to make him more focused. We’ve found blinkers have helped him focus better in his work. He’s doing well physically and we’re looking for a good result. I think he has the better chance of our two in the race.

Modeyra
5m Shamardal - Zahrat Dubai
17/2237
RPR 110
She’s a Listed winner but had a setback last year that ended her season. We gave her a break and she’s now  back in training. Once she starts her main work we’ll find a nice race for her.

Prince Bishop
5g Dubawi - North East Bay
861-153
RPR 118
He’s improved physically this year and is better than ever. He won a big handicap in Dubai first time out and finished third in round three of the Maktoum Challenge. I think 1m2f is no problem for him and Frankie, who knows him well, was happy with the draw in 12 for the World Cup. He has a chance to run well.

Prince Siegfried
6g Royal Applause - Intrum Morshaan
2/68115
RPR116
He doesn’t show very much in the mornings but he’s better on the racetrack. He’s a little bit quirky but we’ll find a race for him.

Retrieve
5h Rahy - Hold To Ransom
262455
RPR120
He’s an Australian horse and we were disappointed with him, but we’ve given him a break during the winter and we’ll take him back in the summer. We’re looking to see better results. He’s training well and we could go 1m-plus with him.

Rio De La Plata
7h Rahy - Express Way
3222-70
RPR 119
He’s a multi-Group 1 winner. I’ve been quite disappointed with him this year but sometimes it takes him one or two races to come back to form. Physically he is doing very well and he worked very good ten days ago. I think if he gets a nice position in the Duty Free this weekend he could run a huge race.

Saamid
4c Street Cry – Aryaamm
116/0
RPR 114
He was a Group 2 winner at Doncaster as a two-year-old but suffered a hairline fracture last year. We gave him a break and now he’s back in training. I’ve always liked him. We’ll find a race for him and we could start him over 1m. He’s doing well and I hope he stays sound.

Sajjhaa
5m King’s Best – Anaamil
21/2417
RPR 115
She’s a nice mare, tough and always trying her best. She’s in good form and we’ll find a race for her, although there’s no plan yet.

Songcraft
4g Singspiel – Baya
11-113
RPR 112
He’s doing well here and he’s working nicely. I think he’ll run well in the Sheema Classic. He’s come back sound and healthy from his last race and this is the right trip for him. Then we’ll take him back to England.

Start Right
5g Footstepsinthesand - Time Crystal
362-343
RPR 108
He’ll run in the Lincoln with a visor and that will help him – it makes a difference when he works.

Terdaad
4g Shamardal – Akrmina
021/1
RPR 97
I like him and he’s improving all the time. He’s had tiny problems and we haven’t wanted to rush him. He’s in good order now and he’s doing well.

SUROOR – 3YO’S

Anjaz
f Street Cry - Playful Act
11
RPR 88
I like her and she’s doing really well. She’s improved physically. She could be an Oaks filly but she needs to run and prove herself before we run her in big races.

Asatir
c Elusive Quality - Valid Warning
11
RPR 89
He’s a nice colt but still weak and he’ll need time.
Report Aurelius Maximus April 3, 2012 10:15 PM BST
Hope that helps, taken from the Racing Post word for word.

What strikes me is that Al Zarooni has by far the stronger team.

However am excited to see where Anjaz starts off. Beautifully bred....and also pleased to see Khawlah is due back - impressed with her effots in Dubai 2011.

No probs guys.

Have been a strong supporter of the Godolphin / Darley operation since I first got hooked on this glorious sport. Been disappointing few years but hopefully they have started to get back to the 2004-era when they were winning races left, right and centre.

Al Zarooni is the key man for me - he seems to have that ability with the 3yo's which is what the operation has been lacking since at least 2005.
