Will do some more work on this during the week but some quick thoughts...
- potentially a stronger pace than previous runnings since the Meydan switch. Its just that you have a few horses here that will want to get on with things. Still expect a slow time because the tapeta can be gruelling in the late afternoon heat but don't expect a stop start slow arse gallop.
- Two very decent US horses and both capable on an artificial....slight preference for the Baffert raider who is ultra tough.
- Suspect Coolmore know where they're at with SYT thanks to Master of Hounds (whose also done well this year but you'd expect Coolmore to be confident of beating him). Showed last year they can get them ready to run well at this meeting and I did speculate at the time that this race could be their big aim with SYT.
- Eishin Flash wouldve been more intereting in the Sheema, Transcend is very good but Japanese dirt horses have struggled transitioning to Dubai in the past but he does have a very good win ratio.
- If the stars aligned and the race panned out well it wouldn't surprise me to see Monterosso run well again at a price. Al Zarooney looks to have him bang on for a nice run again.
