Trainer stated after his last defeat that was the target. Hope so anyway

Looks a good thing if Syncronised does not turn up.

Hope so as on at 9/2

His trainer has said that he didn't finish up to his standard in the lexus, could see him doing well in the Hennessy - bit of a quito fanboy so I would say that though Love

I hope he wins too, as I bigged him up last season, and posted him up in my Cheltenham bets thread as my selection for the RSA Chase. Sadly, he didn't make it, but proved his quality in subsequent races. I hope the Lexus was a blip, and he runs his race in the Hennessy.

Is it just me that thinks he is overrated?? Looking at his form i don't see what is so good about i.

At Down Royal he only just beat non staying Sizing Europe and The Nightingale.

At Punchestown he beat Western Charmer 14L and Head On The Posse easy, however he should be doing so if he is a grade 1 horse. Quel Esprit was brought down, Mr Thriller fell, Kakagh unseated, Loosen My Load ran no race and Reve De Sivola was hampered 4 out and is only a handicapper anyway.

At Aintree he beat Sarando a NK, then Golan Way, Wayward Prince and Radium . Master Of The Hall and The Giant Bolster fell, Robinso Collognes unseated.

At Leopardstown he was beaten 1/2L by Bostons Angel who went on to win the RSA Chase. On the face of it looks a decent run but is the form of the RSA Chase any good?? Western Charmer was only 1 1/2L behind that day with TheGreatJohnBrowne next who ran free, jumped out to the right and fell in a hole over the last. Chigaco Grey was further back who never got into it and made a mistake 4 or 5 out.

At Naas he destroyed Western Charmer when Royal De La Thinthe fell at the last when looking tired and then at Navan beat Royal De La Thinthe 4L.

I could be totally wrong about him (have been many times before Laugh) but i don't think his form is that great and i'd be absolutely shocked if he figured in the Gold Cup. As for Leopardstown i think Quel Esprit will take all the beating.

Reimer completely agree.  Quel Esprit is the only possible decent novice from last year and if he fails to win the Hennessy he will also fall into the same camp.  Looks like the worst renewal ever, but it will tell us about QE.

cant make him a good horse on any piece of form....gave a hampered Reve de Sivola a 17lb beating at Punchestown...the likes of Galaxy Rock, Caroles Legacy, The Minack have given Reve de Sivola a similar beating...dont think he's as slow as some make out (travelled fine on quickish grd Aintree/Punch and in defeat last time), just dont think he's near top class
Report buddeliea February 4, 2012 4:31 PM GMT
yeh,i thought he would shape up into a GC contender, but i dont see it at all now.Possible place on soft ground best he can get imo

Will see after Sunday week if Quito or Quel have any e/w claims in Gold Cup cause thats all there be, unless coming up a bog? Backed Quito 40s e/w start of season and 16s without front 2, not given up hope yet of place money.

ReimerpYsatnaf - good post buddy and I agree with all the criticism.

However, he WILL be on the premises in The Gold Cup if he gets there, because he's got the necessary pre-requisites.

He's a chaser I've never really taken to, but he's a safe conveyance, a thorough stayer and will appreciate the demands of the race on better ground.

I've posted on another thread that the field ALL have big question marks against them - QDLR's big negative is simply his ability, which I am doubting, but everything else is in his favour.

I can't envisage him NOT bounding home up the straight, but whether he has the pace to get into contention is the main concern, as he's as slow as a boat, albeit a classy one.

PS - as for Quel Esprit...he's now become the 'great white hope' as all last season's novices have collapsed to some degree, and Jessie's Dream well-being has become questionable.

I was of the opinion at the beginning of the season that ALL last year's novice chasers were balls, and only Quel Esprit's backers have managed to hold onto some hope, though that could be false hope, as he's had a very easy time of things recently.

In the RSA last season, though moving nicely when he took a tumble, there was still a long way to go, and he seems to be 'rated' by many as if he won it!

He's failed to finish on four of his last five runs in Grade One company (and battered in the other one) and there has to be a grave doubt about his fluency.

Quito De La Roque out of Hennessy with bad scope
By Jessica Lamb 6:33PM 8 FEB 2012

LEADING fancy Quito De La Roque has been ruled out of Sunday's Hennessy Gold Cup at Leopardstown following a bad scope, trainer Colm Murphy has reported.

After the withdrawal of Jessies Dream earlier in the day, Quito De La Roque had hardened as the general 5-2 second-favourite for the Grade 1 contest behind 2-1 market-leader Quel Esprit.

However, the Gigginstown House Stud-owned eight-year-old joins Jessies Dream on the sidelines after the results of an earlier endoscopic examination were revealed.

Murphy said: "He scoped badly on Wednesday and won't be running on Sunday."

Coral reacted to the news by cutting Quel Esprit to 5-4 favourite and promoting Synchronised, who is still to be confirmed a runner, to second favouritism at 9-4.

Quito De La Roque is as short as 16-1 with bet365 for the Betfred Gold Cup at the Cheltenham Festival.
