Although little Josh faded today I thought it ran well matching Midnight Chase for most of the race.

STD gave it a poor ride in my opinion, if only Brennan was still riding for NTD....

The only catch is that it still hasn't qualified for the National yet as it has to finish in the top 4 over 3 miles. Surely NTD will find a easyish race to meet this qualification criteria.

No chance of getting the trip in The National imo.
Ideal candidate for The Topham.

Would have backed LJ today if they had run in the 2m5f race, but reckon would have struggled to beat The Giant Bolster.

Have backed this at huge odds for the Ryanair.

Blatant non stayer today having travelled really well.

Was he OK - looked to me like he might have finished lame?
Report saxon farm January 28, 2012 8:55 PM GMT
I hope not strontium. Looking at "head on" camera on RUK replay, nothing seemed to be amiss.
El Apache: All the best for the ryanair.

I hope not too Saxon and he wasn't dismounted so I hope all's OK. He just looked to be limping on one of his hind legs as he pased the post, but I don't know how he usually looks.

Does Twiston-Davies have a site, which would give more info as regards his soundness or otherwise after the Argento?

jockey seems to say on Twitter that he can back safe and sound
Report strontium January 30, 2012 2:34 PM GMT
Thanks Rod, that's good news.

He also says he needs 2 1/2 miles and shouldn't run 3m+ any more.

The horse still isn't eligible to run in the National yet
Report saxon farm January 30, 2012 7:43 PM GMT
Meatloaf, with respect how do you imagine Little Josh would ever stay the National trip?
Report bigben January 30, 2012 8:30 PM GMT
Didnt stay in the RSA & didnt stay on Saturday, simple really.
Report red and white January 31, 2012 11:50 AM GMT
He was reaching the end of his tether in the Paddy Power and faded twice subsequently over an extra half fulong. It's too harsh blaming Sam for Saturday's performance. Paddy's a great jockey but not a miracle worker (see Baby Mix).

Nice weight if they can get him eligible
Report strontium February 14, 2012 7:12 PM GMT
He'll go nicely for the 2 1/2 miles he stays.

This one does interest me ,although reportedly not staying last time out, it was it's first run after a long lay off.The trainer knows the time of  day when it comes to the National and checking the entries has got it in at Newbury on Friday over 3m in the Denman Chase,as well as The Racing Post Chase 3m,and the Gold Cup 3m2.Admittedly it also has a couple of entries at 2m5 and may well go that route but if it does manage a first four in one of the other top class races it's entered in it will probably be one of the favourites . Come on Josh
