I'll put up a tough Flat & Jumps quiz from the 80's decade for anyone interested around 6pm. I have a suspicion that the aficionados hover around these parts in preference to the main HR forum.
Liam - I was a big fan of Chalon and she would have won the Guineas if she'd have run in it!
Probably a bit better than On The House when she was on song but OTH was no slouch either.
PS - that horse that dragged Piggott under the stalls...here's a clue - there was a forumite of this name a while ago that apparently got on everyone's tits!
I was often WRONGLY accused of being one of his alter-egos!

If it was Ardross I can't remember that being used as an excuse...I remember Charles St.George looking ecstatic thinking he'd won, until he saw Piggott's miserable boat!

Liam - reading back, i can't help you with Eddery's Bessborough winner, but if you were there that day (which I wasn't) that was a great line up for the Coronation Stakes.
Hardly surprising it was elevated to Group One a few years later.

Which high-class horse was transferred to Henry Cecil from Vincent O'Brien in the 80's? AND...who owned it!
Can't remember seeing those colours too often.

Yeah...I remember that - Fallon was under the microscope at that time and every mount was a pressure ride for him.
He had the last laugh on us didn't he? I must admit...me as well!

I backed three horses that day and it could have changed my life if id done a treble
A Shadeed Filly who won the queen mary at around 14-1, Rebecca Sharp at 33s and the supposed second Akehurst string in the Hunt Cup at 33s called Red Robbo, they all won
a poxy £5 treble came to 75k

Zilzal - OUCH! That's why I always used to do £1 E/W Lucky 15's at the Ascot & Cheltenham Festivals!
I'd back two outsiders in each race and just hoped for the best they'd be in the right bets!
Alas...they never were

Zilzal - I won't bother trying to compete with my tales of woe as they're so unbelievable!
Also, they still are painful, years later, and recalling them re-awakens the grief like ripping a scab off a sore!

That's coming from me, the rank outsider punter and eternal optimist when it comes to the word 'if'

Strange that Zilzal...I had a real good run in finding Scottish National winners with Four Trix, Killone Abbey, Run For Free and Earth Summit and then Joe's Edge a few years ago.
One of my favourite races for obvious reasons

Don't know how you managed to find Tony Bin...even though he was runner-up the year before.
I think Red Glow was injured, but I meant Gulland was useless!
What about that other sac of **** Dragon Dancer? Has there ever been a rodent as big as him?

We all seem fans of Geoff Wragg and it's hard to believe he trained Dragon Dancer...that's more like one of Clive's
A truly awful nag and just a breath away from 'immortality' as the worst Derby winner EVER!
