OSCAR WHISKY is more likely to run in the Ladbrokes World Hurdle than the Stan James Champion Hurdle, according to owner Dai Walters.
Trained by Nicky Henderson, Oscar Whisky is likely to bid to follow up last year's success inthe William Hill Welsh Champion Hurdle on February 4 and is 4-1 second-favourite with the sponsor's for the World Hurdle.
Walters said on Tuesday: "We'll see what happens when Oscar runs in the Welsh Champion Hurdle on Saturday week. If he breaks all records there, who knows?
"But as things stand it's 60-40 that he'll take on Big Buck's. I hope he has a proper test at Ffos Las."
Also on February 4, Binocular will again have his final prep for Cheltenham in Sandown's Contenders Hurdle, a race he has won in the past two seasons.
Grandouet, another trained by Henderson, will have his next run in Wincanton's Kingwell Hurdle on February 18 while Bobs Worth, who has undergone a wind operation since his last outing in December, is likely to run in the Reynoldstown Novices Chase at Ascot on February 18.

Here is what Henderson said last week according to the Sporting Life:
Oscar Whisky was third in last year's Champion Hurdle and his trainer now feels the time is right to have a crack at the mighty Big Buck's in the Ladbrokes World Hurdle over an unchartered three miles.
"Two and half miles suits Oscar Whisky well but his next run will be over two miles as he is going to Ffos Las for the Welsh Champion Hurdle," Henderson said.
"It might not be a logical route but it is obviously because Dai Walters owns him and Ffos Las and wants him there so that is where we are going to go.
"He won it last year and I would like to win it again and then we will switch him from two miles to three miles for the World Hurdle and there is no great problem with that.
"I can't see how he is going to win the Champion Hurdle and I wish there was a champion two and a half mile event as that would be made for him as he proved at Aintree last year.

Mr Henderson is a model of probity and would never seek to put people away. Other trainers may pull all sorts of stunts even going so far as to seemingly scratch horses which a couple of weeks later catch pigeons but not Saint Nick.
