Looking forward to seeing how Master Of Hounds gets on in the Al Maktoum Challenge R1 (Group 3) this Thursday. I haven't backed him yet for Dubai World Cup but his move to Mike De ****'s stable is a major positive and I think this fella could be a big improver.
I'm sure a lot of you know MDK did amazing jobs with A P O'Brien cast offs Archipenko and Eagle Mountain a few years ago and I get the feeling he thinks a lot of the Master who has a similar pedigree to Archipenko.
Master Of Hounds: “We got him from trainer Aiden O’Brien and he’s impressed us. He is talented and his work is good. He finished second in the UAE Derby and fifth in the Kentucky Derby – a horse with plenty of potential that could be anything.â€
His first race this Thursday might be a sighter just to see how he reacts with Kevin Shea on board (drawn gate 12 of 12) so I will probably not have a bet but for the big one I think he could be the dark horse of the race and with Orfevre not coming over it looks wide open this year.
Cape Blanco was 4th last year. I think it was a Japanese 1-2, Victoire Pisa and Transcend.
MDK is a very good trainer but think his training of Eagke Mountain was a bit over-rated at the time. The horse had won the Beresford at 2, and the Royal Whip at 3, as well as get placed in two Derbys, and get short-headed out of the Champion Stakes. So to go for that to second in a BC Turf and winning a HK Cup, I'm not sure if "improvement" was the word. More a case of being well-placed.
Archipenko improved a small bit. Good Group 2 horse to Group 1 winner in the Far East.
King of Rome, Zulu Chief, Macarthur, Kingdom of Naples, Warsaw, Admiralofthefleet, Golden Sword, Frozen Fire, Brave Tin Soldier, Trinity College. A lot of horses there that were worse under De ****.
Anyway, don't want to get carried off-topic. Just making the point that De **** dosen't do as well with O'Brien cast-offs as seems. I'm sure he'll have a few ex-South Africans aiming at the DWC too, and I'd prefer them. Bold Silvano if he's back in training will be interesting.

I have to agree with you SoYouThink on your thoughts regarding MDK and ex O'Brien runners and take on board he hasn't been that impressive with some of the runners his drafted in from O'Brien.
The angle I was looking at with Master Of Hounds was his similar pedigree to Archipenko. Archi did win a Group 2 (Derrinstown) as a 3 year old but his form nose dived after that. He was mainly used as cannon fodder for O'Briens's better horses but MDK picked him up and turned him into one of the best international runners during the 2008 season nearly winning the Duty Free (unlucky) and then going onto win the QEII in Hong Kong.
MDK has been a bit hit and miss but I just get the feeling Master of Hounds could be another Archipenko, a Kingmambo with some untapped potential. I would put a line through his Dirt runs even though he sort of handled it in the Kentucky Derby.
Also his half brother Eishin Apollon won the the big Group 1 mile race in the Autumn at Kyoto beating Sahpresa and Immortal Verse. His mom produces some good ones by the look of it.
The race tomorrow night is over 1 mile which will be on the short side for the Master and MDK has pointed out that he will improve a lot for the the run!

why not...anything can win this joke race now. never rated Victoire Pisa...what a joke win.
At least he's got track form, fine run in the K Derby and you could always forgive him the Belmont over that trip and track. The speed bias alone was major killer that day.
Duty Free has gone the same way...back at Nad Al Sheba the Duty Free was turning into pound for pound one of the best G1s in the world.

Promising indeed El Apache, just what I wanted to see from the Master. Onwards and upwards hopefully, liked the way he picked up and ran on in the last two furlongs.
MDK stated before the race Musir will be going back to turf after todays run so I will be surprised if he turns up for the World Cup. Duty Free looks a better option for that one.
Gooner, the whole event has become a joke over the last few years, I feel this is mainly down to the jockeys being idiotic with there overblown slow, quick, slow tactics. The money on offer must have some strange effect on them. A lot of the races around the world are becoming farces due to these plonkers. You could say the DWC is just a Winter Derby with a laser light show but there is some good value to be had with these big international races and I like that.

yep looks good. the tapeta has neutralised the impact of the Americans...that said Animal Kingdom already has a pretty devastating win in the books on a synthetic surface.
btw I'm in agreement with Chapman that the design of the track is wrong. Nads you had a massive straight to run into...here you turn for home and your bang on the line.

Good to see Musir winning again today, showed a good turn of foot off a slow pace and cruised to comfortable 1 length win. Whether he is good enough to win a Duty Free is debatable but he is definitely going in the right direction!
Master Of Hounds will hopefully run in a couple of weeks time with the Maktoum Challenge Rd2 (Feb 9th) being his next target. I've backed him at 16-1 EW for the World Cup and will probably go in again if he puts up a good show like his stablemate did today.

"This has always been the plan for Master of Hounds as we take the next step to World Cup night and he ran a great race in the first round but this looks a proper Group 2 race and he will need to be near his best. The end of March is still a long way away and there is definitely something left to work on but we are very happy with him and the step up in trip is very much in his favour".
MOH looks ready for tomorrow and has got a nice looking draw in 5. The bookies make him 5/2 favourite which is a bit skinny for me to have a bet but can't wait to see how he gets on!
Cirrus Des Aigles looks interesting as well, he's having a prep on the new Chantilly all weather track March 3.

Very disappointing run from MOH this evening, Soumillon didn't give the horse the best of rides but he had every opportunity to go past Mendip and Haatheq when a gap opened but didn't produce a change of gear to go through with it. He then got boxed in and had know where to go and kept on one pace when pulled off the rail.
MDK might have undercooked him tonight but he should be beating this bunch if considered a genuine World Cup horse. Back to the drawing board I think!

It was funny old race Bus but MOH hasn't filled me with much confidence after that. Maybe Super Saturday (3 March) will tell us more about the World Cup pecking order!

i mean mendip is a good horse, i had question marks about him over this trip but he was good enough to win this race but the 2nd shouldnt be there, a decent marker horse but there are far better horses in behind. havent seen time but i think it was fast enough. pity as i wouldve attributed a lack of early pace and a sprint for home as the reason for the result.
perhaps MOH was a tad disappoinging but he is a better horse than this race shows and will undoubtedly improve for a step up. he goes well on the surface too so u have a fair bit going for u in that respect. i also like horses that have been running at the carnival in the months previous, that tend to go off bigger price that the twice overs etc that only show up for the race itself.

I like your positive thinking Bus, on his website MDK said MOH was still not 100% race fit so maybe it wasn't as bad as I first thought. I would prefer to see Kevin Shea back on board as well next time.
Made a bit of a mistake with the Super Saturday date, it's on 10 March not 3 March as I posted earlier!

Trainer went very close with Lizards Desire a couple of years ago. Seems to be following a similar path with MOH. Hopefully he will primed to peak when it matters.

I was having a look on the MDK Racing website and found his comments regarding the runners from last Thursday. It doesn't look good for Master of Hounds World Cup bid. MDK is switching him to the turf track in two weeks time, thinks he will be better on turf!
“Master Of Hounds had every chance,†said Mike bluntly before conceding: “He’s a delicate horse, so I haven’t been hard on him in training and I don’t think he’s at peak fitness yet. But we’re getting there.â€
He added that Master Of Hounds would be switched to the turf track for a race in a fortnight. “I have a feeling he’ll be better on the turf.â€
Bold Silvano will be his Maktoum Challenge (Round 3) and World Cup horse by the sound of it.

Just had a look on the Racing Post website and it says MOH is running this Thursday now, it's all going a little bit pair shaped! I'm not sure a delicate horse would want such a quick turnaround.
"MASTER OF HOUNDS could make a quick return to action at Meydan on Thursday with trainer Mike de **** saying he was nearly certain to run in the Al Fahidi Fort."

That was a superb ride from Kevin Shea today. Bold Silvano's bubble was well and truly burst so MDK hasn't got much ammo left for the big one. MOH has got to run with his style of racing and King Kevin must be the jock onboard.
Congratulations Apache if you got the 26 on Betfair, well deserved win. I'm a bit gutted I didn't back him, the draw put me off big time and I wasn't expecting that move after the gates opened.

Some comments regarding MOH from the MDK racing website.
Mike described the evergreen Shea’s ride as a “clever†one. ‘The Pastor’ had judged the pace to perfection. He had Master Of Hounds well balanced, got him quickly straightened after the turn and galloping along merrily in his hands. The others were flat footed after the initial crawl and chased hard, but to no avail.
Shea got low down and working on Master Of Hounds, driving him hard over the last 150m and they hit the line for what must have been one of the veteran rider’s most satisfying career wins.
“Master Of Hounds will qualify for the Dubai Duty Free and the race will suit him, but I’m not going to commit at this point. We may still decide to switch him to the Dubai World Cup, we’ll keep our options open.â€

Initially after a second in a Chantilly all-weather prep, it was announced that he would aim for one of the $5 million turf races. But a few days later, his trainer suggested he was still possible for the Dubai World Cup. The possibility keeps him on top here, even if tenuous.
#2 – SO YOU THINK Trainer: Aidan O’Brien Estimated UAE Rating: 125
All those Aussie successes followed by the Coral Eclipse (G1) and Irish Champion Stakes (G1), then beaten second by Cirrus Des Aigles at Ascot, and ran a sneaky good sixth in the Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1). Like some others, if he wants to, a spot in the gate is his, and we think that is very likely, especially after the results from Super Saturday.
#3 – GAME ON DUDE Trainer: Bob Baffert Estimated UAE Rating: 122
Second in the 2011 Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1), he won last year’s Santa Anita Handicap (G1) and avoided that race season, wisely, to come to Dubai. He’s a gelding, races from the front, and is just tough to get past. That makes him incredibly dangerous, especially considering how the Tapeta played on Super Saturday.
#4 – CAPPONI Trainer: Mahmood Al Zarooni UAE Rating: 122
Got a massive ratings bump after winning Super Saturday’s Maktoum Challenge – R3 (G1), but left many thinking they still have chances on the big night. The winner of that last race hasn’t pulled the Dubai World Cup double since Electrocutionist, and we would be shocked if this guy did it.
#5 – MONTEROSSO Trainer: Mahmood Al Zarooni UAE Rating: 121
Stayed-on well in his comeback run in the Maktoum Challenge – R3 (G1) and is likely to have gotten enough out of that effort to move forward in the big race. He was third in last year’s edition.
Still declared on track for this race as of ten days ago, which came into question after his struggle in the February Stakes (G1). There was plenty of reason to think that performance wasn’t fully telling of his current condition, and last year’s Dubai World Cup second is still a threat, and will go forward. Watch his run in last year’s Dubai World Cup below.
#7 – PLANTEUR Trainer: Marco Botti Estimated UAE Rating: 119
His 2011 Prix Ganay (G1) win over Sarafina, Cirrus Des Aigles, and Cape Blanco sticks out on paper, and makes him a legitimate threat if ready. This guy is now with Marco Botti and owned locally in the UAE, but would go direct to the World Cup, having not run on Super Saturday. Another who gets in if accepting the invitation, even though he tailed off at the end of 2011, with a fifth in the Prix Jacques le Marois (G2) and trailing home last in the Prix du Moulin de Longchamp (G1) on very soft going.
#8 – ROYAL DELTA Trainer: Bill Mott Estimated UAE Rating: 119
Winner of the 2011 Breeders’ Cup Ladies’ Classic (G1), she was purchased for $8.5 million two days after that effort, and immediately pointed here. She prepped at Gulfstream Park on dirt over a trip much short of her best, finishing second beaten about seven lengths. In our opinion, that race was fine enough to think she is on point for the trip to Dubai, and don’t forget she holds a conditions win on all-weather from April 2011 – so Tapeta should be no problem A win would make her the first filly to land a Dubai World Cup.
WATCH Royal Delta’s prep race at Gulfstream Park.
#9 – GREEN DESTINY Trainer: Herman Brown UAE Rating: 119
Was distanced in the Maktoum Challenge – R3 when he may have flipped his palate, although the post-race vetting showed nothing. They could certainly regroup and get him back for the race, but is a question. Twice a Group 3 winner in England last season, he was a good sixth behind Cirrus Des Aigles in the Champion Stakes, and has been pointed here for some time by his new connections.
#10 – BOLD SILVANO Trainer: Mike deKock UAE Rating: 118
The winner of the 2010 Vodacom Durban July (G1), he is really a fragile type, winning the Maktoum Challenge – R2 (G3) at Meydan last season before a nagging issue kept him from the 2011 Dubai World Cup. He was fifth in February’s Firebreak Stakes (G3) over 1,600 when making his first appearance from that injury, and then a listless 12th in the Maktoum Challenge – R3 (G1), when it was possible his tongue flipped over the bit. He is, absolutely, the most tenuous place-holder on this list.
A solid second, staying-on from Super Saturday, he clearly got over the Tapeta and still recorded one of the fastest final sectional times of the race. That had to be encouraging considering he was probably short of peak fitness for a barn that continues to put out competitive runners. He’ll have a spot if the team wants it.
19 wins from 26 starts, with all of those victories coming on various dirt/all-weather surfaces, and mostly in the top echelon of Japan’s lower levels of racing, he has defeated some quality opponents, including Transcend and Testa Matta in the Tokyo Daishoten (G1), over 1,600 metres. He’s almost a certainty to go in the Dubai World Cup.
#13- FLY DOWN Trainer: Badr Al Subaie UAE Rating: 117
With a troubled trip in the 2011 Dubai World Cup, he went back to Saudi Arabia and performed well, winning the Crown Prince Cup (G2) and then running a great second in the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Cup (G1) after possibly being pushed to go for home too soon. He confirmed he can get over the Tapeta, getting the fastest final 400 metres in his Super Saturday prep, encouraging enough to move forward.
#14 – PRINCE BISHOP Trainer: Saeed bin Suroor UAE Rating: 117
He has been a new horse since being gelded, and ran tenth in this race last year. A strong listed win at Kempton was backed with a dazzling run in a Meydan handicap, which was franked. The son of Dubawi didn’t follow-through in the Maktoum Challenge – R2 (G2), but after starting very slow in the Maktoum Challenge – R3, he held on for a good third, and showed he can be competitive against top quality.

unconformed report that joesph takes the ride. i wasnt afraid of SYT until now as it appears he is a def runner and with JOB onboard he will be to the front with the pace and could be in with a great chance from the front and as the last few weeks in meydan has shown horse who take possitions from the front win, i have taken an opinion with masterofhounds and was hoping he'd be ridden is similar fashion to the jabba hatta win, his advange over most of the field is that he is very fit, not sure how many more can vouch for that. can only see super soumi takingthe ride which is a pity as shea has ridden him most and did well with him evertime imo

It makes sense Aidan O'Brien sticking Joseph onboard SYT as I'm sure he will be riding St Nicholas Abbey in the Sheema Classic as well. Both horses have got to have good chances, the turf track will suit SNA and Treasure Beach could be in there to set the pace for him. Looks a race O'Brien can win, the other runners in the Sheema Classic don't look that great.
I like Soumillon as a jockey but he doesn't seem to get on with MOH as much as Kevin Shea! I think it could be a big mistake taking the ride off King Kev for the big one and hope MDK sticks with him.

I really like SYT at 3s for this. Surely he's head and shoulders above these, despite not quite being the monster that we were told he is. The one worry is that he won't be 100% fit, but hopefully AOB won't make that mistake again.
Does anyone know much about Smart Falcon. It seems that he's just been winning weak races on dirt in Japan, but I could be wrong. Is he as good as those who came over last year?

hes a nice horse but hes unproven on tapeta for a start and is definitely beateble in this race, draw will play a big part too!
i tend to fancy horses that have been running at the carnival as opposed to the 'big guns' that usually line up for the WC only! they tend to be bigger prices than they perhaps should also!

O'Brien really taking aim at this meeting after a few years stand-off between Coolmore / Godolphin.
Big question is if he'll have them all fit enough. Cape Blanco and Master of Hounds both ran well last year to suggest he will. So You Think is a big price at 3s and seems to be coming into this race with little fuss being made about him (on this forum).
The Duty Free looks a strong renewal with the HK runners all engaged. Looks as good a WC night as there's been in a good while.

Regarding O'Brien's horses being fit enough to win on World Cup night I have to agree with your comments Viva. There is big money on offer and I can't see Coolmore bringing their horses all the way down to Dubai just to have a look at the desert. They will be cherry ripe and ready to win just like they were last year.
So You Think is grand looking horse and he's ran well in a lot races over the last couple of years but I've always had reservations about him being as good as his connections think he is. His two races at Ascot were ones which he could and probably should have won but he got beaten. When he got turned over by Rewilding that's when the real doubt set in for me, even though Dettori gave Rewilding far too many smacks he seemed to want it more than SYT near the finish and it was the same when Cirrus Des Aigles won the Champion stakes. SYT's win in the Eclipse was a good one but again he beat a 1m 4f horse (Workforce) over a trip which wouldn't have suited them. I do think SYT will run a good race next week and he is a solid favorite but I'm not sure whether he will win.
The draw will be critical and It's hard to figure out how this race will be run, tactics will probably win the race again!!!
Viva, how do you think the Hong Kong horses will handle going left handed? I like the look of some of the horses they are bringing over, hopefully there will be some odds for the other races soon.

That's a good point MrDinos - you can never tell how the HK horses will take to going the other way around.
Am I correct in thinking that Hong Kong trained horses don't have a particularly good record in Dubai with Vengeance of Rain their only Group 1 winner. Joy and Fun won the Al Quoz Sprint two years ago too.

Viva, you're right about Vengeance of Rain being the last Hong Kong trained horse to win at the meeting. It was back in 2007 and he won the Dubai Sheema Classic. VOR was one of the best to come out of Hong Kong and I fondly remember the couple of close battles he had at Sha Tin with the wonderful Pride.
Going left handed is my only real worry with the Hong Kong horses, a few have run at Tokyo (left handed) over the years and not covered themselves in glory. It will be very interesting to see how they are priced up next week.
Info from Dubai Race Night website 22/03/2012
"Three of the six runners for the Dubai World Cup meeting from Hong Kong should be in Dubai as of now after a flight arrived today. Ambitious Dragon, the likely favourite for the Dubai Duty Free, joined by 2010 Al Quoz Sprint winner Joy And Fun and Eagle Regiment, also aimed at the dash. A separate flight will bring California Memory, Xtension, and Lucky Nine, the first two being Dubai Duty Free starters, and the latter a Dubai Golden Shaheen chance".
It's deje vu with the Hays! Going down the same path as they did with Cape Blanco.
I've attached a link to view the latest 2012 Dubai World Cup likely fields (March 22).

He has yet to win the Group 1 US$10million Dubai World Cup, though has saddled both Asiatic Boy and Lizard’s Desire to finish second and this year he relies on Master Of Hounds, a winner on Super Saturday in the Group 1 Jebel Hatta (1800m turf). Second in last year’s UAE Derby for Aidan O’Brien, Master Of Hounds filled the same berth behind stable companion Musir in Maktoum Challenge I and was then third in both Maktoum Challenge II and the Group 2 Al Fahidi Fort.
His Super Saturday victory was only the second of his career and de **** said: “The Dubai World Cup was the target when we bought him and his first run in the opening round of the Al Maktoum Challenge was very pleasing. His next two runs were ok and that was a good win last time. With Bold Silvano disappointing on Super Saturday Master Of Hounds is the obvious one to take his place in the big race. He has come out of Super Saturday well and should be capable of a good run in what looks an open renewal.â€
MDK doesn't sound too bullish about his chances and I've had the feeling after MOH's second run that MDK hasn't been that impressed with the Master. In the past when MDK thinks one is going to run out of their skin he normally shouts it from the roof tops and I'm not getting that impression with MOH. Also no surprise with Soumillon being declared as the jock.
Draw for the Dubai World Cup is on Wednesday, fingers crossed for a good draw!

Is there any chance that if So You Think was to win this that he'd be immediately retired to head down under for the Australian breeding season? If it were a possibility you'd think that Aidan would have him at 100% for the race rather than having a little in hand for a long season.

Trackwork Notes Dubai World Cup Wednesday 28 March 2012
Eishin Flash - Did a fast workout on the all-weather track. Trainer Hideaki Fujiwara had the jockey Yuichi Fukunaga, sit on this horse this morning.
Trainer Fujiwara commented, “Eishin Flash galloped very well, which was as scheduled. I imagine that the race will become tough especially in the closing stage, so it was a good preparation for the race. He is very relaxed even in the different surroundings, and this is his talent, and he is the horse who can handle it.What I do is to do my best and keep his best condition until the race.â€
Game On Dude - Multiple graded stakes winner Game On Dude jogged 1,600m at Meydan on Wednesday morning, in preparation for Saturday. Trainer Tim Yakteen, who is overseeing the Bob Baffert-trained horses, was pleased with how both Game On Dude and Dubai Golden Shaheen contender, The Factor, were doing.
“They came out of their works great,†said Yakteen. “They are both doing really well. They haven’t backed out of their feed tubs at all and we are really happy with them.â€
Jockey Chantal Sutherland, who is seeking to become the first female jockey to win the Dubai World Cup, arrived at the track later that morning and greeted a throng of reporters. Sutherland, also a fashion model and actress, took time to strike a pose in the starting gate for photographers, donning white True Religion jeans and a hot pink flak jacket.
The two-time Sovereign Award winner then hopped on a horse trained by Ali Rashid Al Raihe and cantered around the Meydan main track to get a feel of the all-weather surface.
Later, Sutherland left Meydan with Bernie Schiappa, co-owner of Game On Dude, to visit Bob Baffert.
Planteur – The winner of the Group 1 Prix Ganay last year for Ellie Lellouche, the five-year-old will have his first start for Marco Botti on Dubai World Cup night and will clear quarantine tomorrow morning.
Royal Delta - With trainer Bill Mott and owner Benjamin Leon looking on, American champion filly Royal Delta picked up her pace down the Meydan stretch on March 28, galloping at a faster clip than she had been training earlier this week while covering approximately 600m as a sharpener before the race on Saturday. “She was very kind going around,†said Leana Willaford, Mott’s assistant who rides Royal Delta in her morning exercise, after completing a circuit of the track. “We just let her stretch her legs and open up her lungs a little down the stretch. As usual, her ears were pricked the whole way around and she came home to the barn as happy as can be.â€
While the Meydan reported Royal Delta’s time for the 600m (about three furlongs) at :38.50, Willaford said the exercise was not intended to be a workout for speed. “We felt it was better to do a little less than to do too much this close to the race,†she said.
Leon and Mott visited Royal Delta in the quarantine barn area later in the morning. The four-year-old daughter of Empire Maker, who was purchased by Leon for US$8.5-million at auction last fall, has won five of nine career starts with only one unplaced effort, which came in her second career start. Smart Falcon – The Japanese contender stayed at the quarantine stable area this morning.
Trainer Ken Kozaki commented, “We have been targeting the Dubai World Cup since last year and planned his race schedule for the race, so we are very honored to be invited to the race.
“Smart Falcon is a more talented horse than we think, and what I have to do is to keep his condition. He has beaten Transcend last year, but Transcend is a very good and strong horse, and Eishin Flash is a Japanese Derby winner, and in addition to that, all other members in the field must be very good horses. So I always think my horse is a challenger.â€
So You Think - The six-strong Ballydoyle contingent emerged from quarantine for their first collective glimpse of Meydan racecourse. Led out by Dubai World Cup contender So You Think, the sextet walked around the outer of the main track for one circuit before turning at the winning post to canter for one circuit the right way round.
So You Think led Daddy Long Legs, Await The Dawn, St Nicholas Abbey, Wrote and Treasure Beach. At the conclusion of exercise there was much collective interplay among the riders and their horses, all of which looked spritely. “They had a good look around and we are very happy,†said Ballydoyle’s travelling head lad, Pat Keating. “I'll talk to Aidan (O'Brien) tonight, and he'll decide what they'll do tomorrow and Friday.â€
Trancend – Last year’s Dubai World Cup runner-up worked with a half-gallop on the all-weather track. Trainer Takayuki Yasuda, who took the Group 1 Takamatsunomiya Kinen with a champion sprinter or miler Curren Chan on the previous weekend, arrived in Dubai this morning and watched his horse’s morning work.
Yasuda commented, “We gave him a fast breeze on Sunday, so he did only a half-gallop today. In his previous start (Group 1 February Stakes), the pace was too high for him, which made him uncharacteristically fell behind and raced poor seventh. He is in a good condition, as the same time of last year when he finished second in the Dubai World Cup, but I hope he will not be tied to the lost. I would like to have the outsider than middle in the draw, for not to be sandwiched inside. The owner will join and take the draw. The 1,800m or 2,000m is his best distance, and the all-weather, which needs some power, should suit him.â€
Zazou - The Waldemar Hickst-trained Zazou came onto the all-weather today for a slow canter. He was ridden by regular work rider Radich Hennig who said: “We went out onto the all-weather for a slow canter. Everything is good. The horse is in great form. He has eaten. He drinks a lot and has only lost five kilos.â€

I am dead against all O`Brien horses at this meeting. He is a great trainer, however he rarely has his horses cranked up early in the season.Looking at the start of the Irish Flat season , most of his horses will come for the run.
My mate De K0ck targets this meeting and will have at least 3 winners.MOH now 20/1 at Billies- have topped up e/way. Draw looks fantastic to me.
Also fancy Musir and Mahbooba big time for King Kev.Could be a life changing trixie.

Apache, the draw's not bad at all but with no King Kev I'm getting a horrible feeling he might get crowded onto the rail and have no where to go. Soumillon isn't one of the most aggressive riders out there and his super smooth style is not what we need Saturday. He needs to fire MOH out the stalls so he can dictate the pace and not the other punks on his outside. I'm sure King Kev will have a word with him, I just hope he listens!
I think Musir will run a big race in the Duty Free but the Hong Kong trio look strong. Also I'm not sure why Soumillon has deserted Musir, he's supposed to be his favorite horse!!!

By the way Mr Dinos , do you think Mahbooba has potential to improve for this trip against opposition who I have big question marks.

Apache, it's looks a wide open race with the leading players having question marks. Will SNA be fit enough and does Cirrus Des Aigles prefer going right handed, his best form suggests he does! Mahbooba has won over 12f so the trip wont be problem, she beat Al Shemali by 6 lengths on fast ground at Newmarket. This trip might be her optimum and all her runs over shorter trips at Meydan appear to have been build up work to this race. 20-1 looks good and even though she might need to improve a bit more to trouble the big guns. She has also got a good draw.
All the best with your MDK bets Apache.

cant imagine coolmore sending their horses to this meeting without being ready to win their races if good enough!

I would judge AOB's runners in Dubai to those running in Ireland. They have completley different targets and you can be sure his Dubai horses ARE fit. I'd just not be sure which one where he has more than one runner.
Does no one fancy Royal Delta for this? She was very impressive at the Breeders Cup.

Have followed up on my interest this morning and had a few quid on Royal Delta. Just think 12/1 is far too big for an impressive Breeders Cup winner from a trainer who has won the race before.
Forget the name of the Japanese filly that was well fancied for this last year, Red something, ridden by Ryan Moore, and I did my money on her so hope lightening does not strike twice!

It was Buena Vista last year Sint, rubbish draw and a race which was run at crawl never suited her. Mirco Demuro won the race, he was the only jockey who used his brain and had the balls to make a positive move!!! Red Desire was the Japanese mare I think you could be on about, she ran in the race in 2010 and came no where as well. History looks to be against the females in this race but maybe Royal Delta could be the one to change that. She has got some good form but all her wins have been against the same sex and also in small fields which is a concern for me. Dubai Race Night have done an analysis of every race on the card and they've also gone for Royal Delta, so you are not alone in thinking she can win.
Good look with your bet Sint, it looks wide open and I wouldn't rule any horse out of this race!

Eishin Flash - “He did a brisk canter at the end of this morning and I wanted to check how his form was after the gallop yesterday,†said trainer Hideaki Fujiwara. “I talked to my assistant work rider with the small wireless telephone during the work and listened to him how the horse was, and he said he was very flexible and performed well like at home. I think he is 100% fit at this point. I do not know how the race will go until it starts, so all I have to do is to keep the horse’s best condition and entrust the jockey with my horse. Christophe Lemaire is a very good worldwide jockey, and he must handle the race. “
Game on Dude - Dubai World Cup contender Game On Dude, who drew the ominous post of 14 cantered 2,000m on Friday morning at Meydan. The tidy bay, however, was not accompanied by his regular exercise rider George Alvarez.
Alvarez did not arrive at the stables on Friday morning. As a result Tim Yakteen, who is overseeing the Baffert horses while Bob Baffert is recovering from a heart attack suffered early Monday morning, phoned jockey Chantal Sutherland to fill in.
“He called me early this morning and, by the sound in his voice, I knew that he needed help. Georgie (Alvarez) didn’t show up, so they needed me to come in and get on the horses,†said Sutherland.
Sutherland exercised both Game On Dude and The Factor, a contender for the 1200m Dubai Golden Shaheen, sponsored by Gulf News. Yakteen, however, suggested this had been the plan all along.
“We wanted Chantal to test the track on the inside with Game On Dude and on the outside with The Factor,†said Yakteen. “This was our plan from the start.â€
Planteur - Continued in routine mode with a steady canter on the main track. Trainer Marco Botti is looking forward to saddling the Group 1-winning five-year-old for the first time.
“The horse came to us at the end of last year and has done well since he arrived,†Botti said. “I have been happy with his work at home. We took him to Wolverhampton racetrack (in England, which has an all-weather surface) for a spin 10 days ago and he handled it really well.
“We are happy with is condition here. The only question mark is the (all-weather) surface, but that’s the same for many other horses in the race.â€
Royal Delta - Capping her week of training for the Dubai World Cup with another strong gallop on March 30, Besilu Stables’ American champion filly Royal Delta gave her Racing Hall of Fame trainer Bill Mott the best feeling a trainer can have. “You couldn’t ask a horse to look any better than that,†Mott said as Royal Delta virtually swaggered off the racetrack, her ears up and her coat gleaming in the sun following her exercise. “She went great.â€
Mott had contemplated letting Royal Delta pick up a little speed down the stretch, but his assistant and exercise rider Leana Willaford opted to keep the filly in a strong gallop as she had taken hold of the bit and was moving powerfully enough.
Royal Delta’s condition and preparations for the Dubai World Cup are very similar to the way she worked prior to her career-best victory in the Group 1 Breeders’ Cup Ladies’ Classic at Churchill Downs, Mott said.
So You Think - The already intense scrutiny of former Australian star So You Think was heightened this morning with the appearance at Meydan of Coolmore Australia’s team headed by Tom Magnier.
T Magnier, son of John Magnier, Racing and Business manager of Coolmore Australia, was accompanied by general manager Michael Kirwan and Duncan Ramage, Racing Manager for So You Think’s original owner Dato Tan Chin Nam, who still retains a share in the horse.
The trio eagerly awaited the appearance on the track of So You Think who led out the six strong team of Aidan O’Brien in his biggest onslaught yet on the world’s richest race day.
The general consensus was that So You Think was looking as good as at any time in the 15 months since he joined the Aidan O’Brien stable. “I wish some of the critics in Australia who have said he was a different horse since he went to Aidan could see him now,†Kirwan said.
Ramage said he would be happy to report to Chin Nam that the horse that won him two Cox Plates in Australia when trained by Bart ****s still was ready to take on the richest race in the world. Magnier said O’Brien would be arriving in Dubai Friday night.
Transcend - “Transcend did not come out on the all-weather track yesterday, so he did a routine canter on the track today,†said trainer Takayuki Yasuda. “He was very relaxed and had a very good feeling, which may bring a 100% performance. He was a runner-up last year, but we are always challenger. Smart Falcon and Game On Dude will likely set the pace, but the best way is that Transcend follows the pace and keep up from just behind them turning for home. He is a very durable and has lots of sharper when he is on the lead in the closing stage of the race. The all-weather, which needs some power, should suit him and I hope to gain what we did not get last year.â€

De **** did not sound overly confident in the chances of Master of Hounds in the $10 million Dubai World Cup, saying he believes Master of Hounds is better on the turf. Initially, De **** and Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum were pointing Bold Silvano to the World Cup, but that horse has disappointed in two starts this year and instead is running in the $5 million Sheema Classic on turf.
“With the flop of Bold Silvano [this] season there wasn’t really a back-up for the World Cup,†De **** said. “Sheikh Mohammed really wanted a World Cup runner and [Master of Hounds] was the only horse we could switch back knowing he’s probably going to be competitive on the surface. But I still feel he’s a better turf horse than he is an all-weather horse, so it’s going to be a tough one.â€
I could tell the vibes weren't good from the way MDK had been speaking about MOH the last couple of months!
De **** believes his best chances for success are with Mutahadee and Musir in the $5 million Dubai Duty Free on turf and Mickdaam in the $2 million UAE Derby on Tapeta.
Mutahadee has gone 2 for 3 this season at Meydan and is coming off a third-place finish, beaten two lengths, in the Group 1 Jebel Hatta by the slow-pace-setting Master of Hounds, who is running in Saturday’s World Cup.
“If we have any chance of getting some sort of speed there he’ll be right there at the finish line,†De **** said.
Musir owns a win on both Tapeta and turf at this meeting but is coming off a third-place finish in the Burj Nahaar, run on Tapeta.
“He did disappoint," De **** said. "He didn’t have an ideal preparation. We had to back off him a little. He needed a bit of time off.â€
De **** expects Musir to be among the early leaders and said, “If he gets to the front and gets it soft they’re not going to get past him.â€
Musir is the one for me now in the the Duty Free, there isn't much pace in the race by the look of it so he might get that soft lead he needs. He's got the right jockey onboard and a good draw as well.

Planteur for me and been lucky to get on at 200 when he was 1st reserve before Gitano Hernando pulled out. His winning form first time out over the last 3 seasons, in particular his win in the Prix Ganay over Sarafina, Cirrus Des Aigles and Cape Blanco suggests he will be right there in the mix. Drawn in 6 Ryan Moore will be able to get a good position and sit prominent before the first turn, and with luck will be able to poach enough lead once he takes it up in the straight, to hold on for a great win for Marco Botti's team.

Anybody who backed PLANTEUR in the WORLD CUP, must be fuming at MOORE seemingly to fall asleep in the stalls, particularly as it happens MORE OFTEN THAN NOT, personally I would not employ him at any price, he does the "patiently ridden" as a matter of course, it is totally , disgustingly overdone, yet he NEVER learns, just two or three lengths nearer at the start would have won him several group 1 wins than he has, to me he is lackadaisical to the enth degree.
