Opinions welcome on this, i have backed him at big prices for the champion hurdle, the stable have always had a high opinion of the horse and they way he started the season that belief looked justified, he then was easily beatn by grandouet who himself look excellent at hq, however lets not forget that brampour is a young horse with lots of potential, the ground and perhaps the quick run may account for the poor run last time at ascot, if we take hurricane fly out then again it looks wide open with not much of a standout in the race, big price nd with a bit of improvement to come no forlorn hope and certainly ew, perhaps the problem could be the county hurdle if he ends up being aimed at that instead, he is open to a lot of improvement even now so who knows, opinions welcome

Good luck if you've got him at a big price. If they freshen him up and he improves he can't be far away and I couldn't see them missing The Champion Hurdle for The County although he could run in both. The only thing I don't like is his age but Greatwood Hurdle has often been a good guide to the big one and could end up an open race.

He's 10 times the price of Grandouet for a 4 l beating. He might also improve if ridden by Daryl Jacob or the like in the Champion. 162 looks a huge mark to try to win the County, though might control the weights for something else.

I may well be tempted if he reaches three figure odds...most certainly not a forlorn hope, and the basis of your argument relies solely on Hurricane Fly not being 100%.

He doesn't strike me as being overburdened with the speed you'd associate with a Champion Hurdler but did that stop Hardy Eustace, Brave Inca, Katchit or Punjabi in recent years?

The favourite apart...none look bombproof - best of luck squire Wink

Think he'll run well and every chance of placing. Doubt he's classy enough to win but good luck
Report denman85 January 6, 2012 8:10 PM GMT
to be honest i think there's no chance of brampour winning or getting placed in champ hurdle
Report strontium January 6, 2012 8:30 PM GMT
No disrespect to Harry Derham who gave him a good ride in the Greatwood and at Ascot, but I think he'd have a much better chance with an experienced pro on his back. I can't see him beating a fit Fly, but aftert that it looks very open to me. He was only beaten 4 l by Grandouet in the International after all.

3rd at best behind Hurricane Fly and spirit son.
Report denman85 January 7, 2012 5:55 PM GMT
binocular will finish in front of spirit son, siprit son never won a grade 1 cudnt have him in champ hurdle, got over a stone to improve to get on terms with binocular at the moment, if hurricane fly runs he wins simple

Give him a chance denman85, he has only run in one and finished 2nd!
Report denman85 January 8, 2012 4:09 PM GMT
he has got to improve, im more keen on the horse coming from the neptune form line rather than the supreme novies for the champ hurlde, but to be honest i think if the fly runs he wins, this years is alot  weaker champ hurdle than last years
Report buddeliea January 10, 2012 12:51 PM GMT
umm,not sure about that.
Think this years could turn out to be pretty good as it happens.
And i certainly would not be knocking Spirit Son!!
Report Howdi January 10, 2012 1:07 PM GMT
i agree with denman if the Fly is within 5 pounds of last year they won't stop him.

v surprised just how well the triumph form is working out.
Report buddeliea January 10, 2012 5:41 PM GMT
Personally think he will need to be as good myself, dont think he can afford the luxury of being 5lb worse off.
Spirit Son is a goodun, make no mistake.
Would help if we saw him though!!
Triumph horses are looking good also, plus Bino will be back on his favourite course in his favourite month!!
Report MANUELPADILLAJNR January 10, 2012 10:40 PM GMT
perhaps the most significant thing in favour of spirit son is barrys comments after sprinter sacre hosed up last time out, he said one of the best he has sat on ever in terms of sprinter sacre, he was then asked why he did not ride him in the supreme and he answered that it was an impossible decision to make, this would surely show the regard in which he is held by the stable, still as for brampour at massive ew prices he has to be a fair ew punt
Report bluebirdfan January 11, 2012 11:00 AM GMT
Brampour is a handicapper
Report bazzar January 11, 2012 12:57 PM GMT
Horses which came through the system of maiden, then handicapper have won the Champion Hurdle, MAKE A STAND being just ONE example.
