Henderson is doubtful that RT will be ready for Boxing Day. OK, that is fine as there have been problems.
What concerns me is that NJH still reckons the horse may be a two and a half mile specialist, with like last year the ry**air being the ultimate target, in which injury prevented participation.
This horse is an out and out stayer and should have The Gold Cup as his target, with a prep run at Cheltenham in The Cotswold Chase, rather than the race at Ascot the trainer has in mind.
Absolutely agree. i was all over this one for last years King george after the way he stormed up the hill in the previous seasons Arkle. I suppose the fact he has Long Run and possibly Burton Port to go to war with in the Gold Cup means he is almost obliged to send this for the Ryanair but should anything happen to the former and the latter not make it back then I wouldnt at all be surprised to see his target changed. Barry Geraghty loves the horse and i think the Gold Cup should be his target but then Im not Nicky henderson!

I've got £2 @ £290/1 on here in the hope they might change their mind and go for the Gold Cup, but in all honesty I'd be amazed if they didn't go down the Ryainair route.

Ryanair could make up into a cracking race if Captain Chris, Somersby, Master Minded etc all flourish this season. Add in Riverside Theatre, maybe Sizing Europe, Golden Silver etc, could be 2nd best race behind the Arkle!

I do not subscribe to the right handed theory concerning RT (won 2 times at Newbury)
And I also disagree that he is a 2.5 mile specialist. For heavens sake, RT was doing his best work in the straight over 3 miles behind Long Run.
Never be scared to take one horse on in any race, and certainly in a GC. The rya&air may be as good if not better a race than the GC this season.
My only doubt remains how RT handles the downhill run before the home straight.

I remember Henderson unsaddlind Carraciola after winning the Ces*****+ saying i've been running him over the wrong trip for far too long. (disingenuous ?) NJH has forgotten more than I will ever know about racing, but I am certain that a lot of trainers are far too dogmatic concerning the optimum trip of their animals.

Its not the left handed bit,its the course where his only run there was that of a horse that did not take to it.Thats how it looked to me. Anyway hes not a horse that i would back anywhere to be honest.
