Could there be something up with the Ballydoyle horses at the moment? I know Await the Dawn was sick after the Judmonte, but Fame and Glory and the host of two-year-olds they have run over the past few days have all looked like they are not finishing off their races too well. Could it be O'Brien being easy on them thinking of later targets or is there an issue? I can't remember so many disappointing efforts from this stable in such quick succession..

Is Await The Dawn sick though?

They would rather people thought he was than admit he was just not as good as he was hyped up to be.
Report TheFormMan August 20, 2011 9:08 PM BST
he is actually sick, stable girl that i know from ballydoyle says that he had throwen up 6 times since his return
Report mightymoyes August 20, 2011 9:19 PM BST
theres no way he showed his true form in that race.
Report Sankara August 21, 2011 9:52 AM BST
Massively unlikely that Await the Dawn has anything wrong with him at all. Pure PR this illness story.
Report TEN2FOLLOWER August 21, 2011 2:43 PM BST
Seville ran badly too.

Horses are physically incapable of throwing up, so that's bull

the form man. you need to have a word with your friend at ballydoyle. story teller imo

'If material does pass from stomach out the esophagus, the horse is dead or nearly so. That's why horses can't vomit. But, sometimes they do. Rarely, to be sure'

I say their is deffo something to Await The Dawn as he was legless in the final 1f and beaten by 2 decent but not top class Group 1 Horses.

The rest its hard to say but i say their may be a little problem in the stable. Don't remember many times when the finished so badly in 1 week so i give them the benefit of the doubt.

I wasn't actually that surprised when F&G got beaten. Yeats got beaten often enough in his prep races, and F&G will now head for the Irish Leger.

Laugh Funny when people get so caught out

I made a thread yesterday about it  but no one was interested :( so I did my own enquiring and it seems a few have/had a temperature (4 of which ran at York) so all I would say is stay the hell away!

This the same yard that sent two to Chicago last week and landed the Arlington million and the Secretariat Stakes? Some virus indeed
Report Masterminded August 22, 2011 6:00 PM BST
A virus spreads in a few days easily doesn't it so Arlington is irrelevant

Are you been serious? They left Ballydoyle the Monday before and as mention by another poster viruses can spread in a matter of days. Anyway common sense will tell you not ever horse will be effected and plenty will win but for Ballydoyle to come away from York and then the Futurity card without a sniff of a winner tells you things aint right!!! Plus I believe who told me!

As far as trainer comments go I tend to treat them with sceptisicm. Most are always likely to come out with an excuse for a poor run, and I will admit that Ballydoyle/Coolmore lead the way with this due to their future breeding programme.

However this time is clearly different, anyone can see that their horses are not finishing of their races. Something is clearly amiss, so I happen to believe connections this time.

as side note....coolmore didnt half have some good results for the stallions over the weekend.

Aidan landed a double at Cork yesterday and won the Listed race at Killarney this evening with Wild Wind.

Low level and not many of them affected.

Hi SOF,

how is Camelot and when can we expect to see him next?

Where do you place him in the 2 year old Ballydoyle pecking order?
Report soldieroffortune August 24, 2011 11:11 PM BST
Beryl he's a lovely colt and its no real surprise to see him head the betting at this stage for the Epsom Derby.

I admit it's hard to know what he achieved on debut there in Leop the last day, but he did it really well and looked an absolute picture in the parade ring.

Perhaps a bit of a leap of faith to go from a Leopardstown Maiden to the National Stakes but that's a possible route. The alternative is the Beresford leading into the RPT in Doncaster, which would potentially be a better way of seeing where they stand with him.
