Germany: Royal Ascot winner Brown Panther has been handed a favourable inside draw in stall number two of 18 for Sunday's Deutsches Derby at Hamburg racecourse.
Michael Owen's colt, who landed the King George V Stakes at the royal meeting, is set forcelebrity status in Hamburg on account of his owner and has been made favourite with domestic bookmakers, who quote him on the 7-2 mark.
In such a big field, a wide draw is regarded as a disadvantage and Brown Panther's jockey RichardKingscote should be able to adopt a good position before the first bend.
The draw, which took place in a televised ceremony on Monday evening, also handed a decent berth to leading fancy Arrigo, who starts from box four under Kieren Fallon.
Ibicenco (Tom Queally) and Lindenthaler (William Buick) are neighbours in seven and eight, but Johnny Murtagh's mount Gereon, second to Excelebration in the German 2,000 Guineas, is drawn towards the outside in 16.
I wouldn't place too much emphasis on the draw. The course has a long back straight and the ground will ride good, good to firm. The draw is more of an issue when the ground is heavy. Only six horses have a serious chance of staying the demanding 12 furlongs. BP has a favouites chance.

Does Brown Panther really deserve to be Fav here at 9/4 ?
I dont know much about the German form but I do know BP won a handicap off 91 last time out, just two weeks ago, and he reportedly lost 19kg after the race. Is 2 weeks enough time to recover, and then going and win a G1 on foreign soil.
I've had a lay at the prices, 3.3.
