Not sure he got left though, looked to jump fairly slow and then didn't look interested for a few furlongs. Temperamental perhaps ?
Strange run wasn't it?Not sure he got left though, looked to jump fairly slow and then didn't look interested for a few furlongs. Temperamental perhaps ?
Winner won very well imo - Baraan not given a good ride obviously but not sure it made the difference between victory and defeat
Barran will be very short for the Grand Prix De Paris thats for sure[;)]

Yes possibly PF. Although he was the first horse to be loaded into the stalls and was waiting a while. Perhaps he just switched himself off or something. I wonder if he has done that before ..

I would be concerned that it is a trait .During the jockeys interview before the race he stated his concern was having a slow start he would be ok if jumped out with the rest .This suggests a problem in coming out the stalls and proved to be the case.

Baraan will get the chance to put his French Derby nightmare behind him when he goes for the Grand Prix de Paris at Longchamp next month.
Jean-Claude Rouget's Dalakhani colt was sent off joint-favourite for the Prix du Jockey Club having impressed in his Longchamp trial, but he effectively lost all chance with a slow start, soon becoming a long way detached from his rivals.
He made staggering progress in the straight to finish third and Georges Rimaud, racing manager for the owner the Aga Khan, believes he is a colt with a huge future if his issues with the stalls can be ironed out.
"He was unlucky with what happened but this is racing and we need to try to rectify the situation," said Rimaud.
"He has a bit of a problem coming out of the gates and what went against him on Sunday is that they went very fast.
"He was also not very fast away in the Prix La Force at Longchamp but because they did not go so fast, he soon caught them up and was actually soon in the lead.
"On Sunday there were some very fast milers in the race and they went a bit faster than we thought they would. For that reason he was soon a long way behind.
"He showed he is a horse with a lot of ability to come through and finish third from the position he was in and he also did not get a clear passage.
"If he had not been so far behind then he would have had a chance to challenge the winner (Reliable Man), who is also by Dalakhani (who is also owned by the Aga Khan), which is good for us, of course.
"We planned to go for the Grand Prix de Paris on July 14 before Sunday and there is no reason to change our plans.
"That is a mile and a half and there will be no fast milers in that, so hopefully, they will not go so quick early on."
