FATHSTA
Much improved performer from middle of last season and should find this test easier after a decent sixth in Victoria Cup latest. Whether the trip on quick ground brings out the best of him remains to be seen, but impossible to knock form credentials.

LUI REI
Been a touch unlucky last two efforts and looks like landing a sprint of this nature before long when cards fall right. Not handed the best draw here but should find opposition easier and ran well here last term in Listed contest on unfavoured ground.

ROWE PARK
All wins at 5f are cause for concern but has been tried at much higher level than this recently and has to be respected dropping down in grade. Shouldn't mind the quick ground but others seem better treated.

LOVE DELTA
Found his form on the AW last term and somewhat struggled on turf. Possible improvement from three to four but hard to enthuse about him on first start this year with something still to prove back on turf here.

CORPORAL MADDOX
Been somewhat disappointing since his 2yo days and not given his supporters much to shout about recently. Might just need to shed a few pounds off his mark to come into his own now and hard to enthuse about his chances until showing better form.

TAKE TEN
From a decent sprinting family and got the hang of things at the end of last term on the AW. Switched to Al Zarooni now with Godolphin, he was a smart 2yo and entries in the Dash and Wokingham suggest he's highly thought of; Frankie on board.

SPIRIT OF SHARJAH
First try back at 6f for a while now could possibly bring about improvement but remains more exposed than some of these and record on turf makes for grim reading of late. Others preferred in this contest.

CROWN CHOICE
Looked one to keep on the right side of when a fast finishing 3rd at Pontefract on seasonal debut but somewhat flopped next time at Ascot. Form usually solid of late, apart from three runs at Ascot, so possible excuse there last time. Worth another chance.

PARISIAN PYRAMID
Very much in with a chance off this mark based on last seasons efforts and not disgraced last time in Victoria Cup over a furlong too far for him. Kevin Ryan stable still in decent form and gets the quick ground he relishes. Solid each way claims.

LUTINE BELL
Game debut run this season behind the likes of Horseradish puts him well into the mix here. Mixed performance latest in Victoria Cup but likely to enjoy things more here and bagged draw close to stands side rail to help too.

DUNGANNON
Would have been a lot closer at Ascot last time but was badly hampered and finished mid division; he looks to have continued his improvement as a 4yo. Another with Wokingham entry and unlikely we've seen the best of him yet. Stable in decent form too.
EVERYMANFORHIMSELF
Thrown in at the weights on his very best form but thinking is he isn't the force of old now. Now 4lbs higher than for his second in a weaker event at Thirsk two starts ago, it's hard to see him taking this from some quality opposition.

SLIP SLIDING AWAY
Fantastic record at Goodwood (112) and closely matched with Dungannon on last years form. Stable could be in better form though and ground might prove a shade too quick for him. No entry in fancy races slightly off putting also.

SUMMARY

A smaller field than normal for sprints of this nature but an intriguing one none the less. A number of these will use this race to go on to better things and the race should revolve around those types. DUNGANNON caught the eye last time as he travelled beautifully through his race at Ascot only to be hampered at the crucial stage when switching to the far rail. A wall of horses closed in on him and left his rider with nowhere to go. His 25/1 price for the Wokingham suggests he has a decent future and the Balding stable are sending out a few winners and placed horses now. It’s dangerous to rule out an Al Zarooni runner at present and Take Ten is another who looks to have a bright future. He has Epsom Dash and Wokingham entries and looked to be showing a great deal of improvement last backend when taking two AW sprints in smart fashion. Frankie is in the saddle today and no surprise to see further improvement now as a four year old for new yard. Of the remainder, Lui Rei and Crown Choice look the most dangerous.

Good luck, VK.
For anyone that may have missed it, Andrew Balding said the following about Dungannon in his recent stable tour:
Potentially a nice sprint handicapper. He was very unlucky at Ascot on Saturday, when nothing went right, and he’ll now head to Goodwood in a fortnight for a 6f handicap. It would benice to run in theWokingham but he would probably need to win at Goodwood if he’s going to get in. I think he’s pretty well handicapped.

Well played to Crown Choice. He was always one of the dangers and delivered in fine style.
