MISTER HUGHIE
Some excellent form in group company last year and will appreciate the drop in grade here. Might find things tough though off top weight and others may be better treated.

KALDOUN KINGDOM
Regular visitor to the track and not without a chance based on his head second to Hawkeyethenoo in the Sky Bet Dash here off just 1lb lower last July. First time out winner last year and apprentice takes valuable weight off today. Chances.

SWILLY FERRY
Sure to bag a race at some point during the year but hasn't been in the greatest form of late and may need to just drop down the weights a bit before he's seen at his best.

TAJNEED
Last four wins have come at Ripon and isn't getting any younger. Could be tricky for him to get by some of these off this kind of rating and probably best when seen at Ripon later in the year.

HORSERADISH
Has done nothing wrong throughout career so far and solid fourth in Victoria Cup last Saturday. Still well treated off just 4lbs higher for comfortable success at Doncaster on debut and should be thereabouts once more.

HOOF IT
Hard not to like his overall profile and showed improvement at the back end of last year. Tried to run twice already but pulled out on ground worries. Fallon booked once more and clearly must be a leading player.

FLIPANDO
Nothing wrong with form this spring; even as a ten year old. Not won off a mark this high before though and wins usually come on turning tracks. Probably best ignored in this.

CHEVETON
Highly talented and often gets his head infront at some point during the season. Usually acts best with a bit of cut in the ground though and might need to drop a few pounds to be seen at his very best.

IRISH HEARTBEAT
As always a Fahey/Hanagan runner at York must be respected and this is a consistent sort for the yard. Now 5lbs higher than for last win but solid effort in Ayr Silver Cup off this mark gives him a chance and wouldn't put anyone off him.

DAMIKA
Won the Great St Wilfrid last season off just 1lb lower than today but didn't show true colours on return to action latest. Could be argued he has a chance based on that form last term but likely something better than him in this.

DOCOFTHEBAY
Very game effort on first try at this trip last time out at Newmarket and comes into this off same mark. Niggling doubt he will enjoy this as much with no stiff finish to help him and faster sorts likely to prevail in contest of this nature.

OUR JONATHAN
Group Two winner at two; crept down the weights last season after a muddling campaign. Now gelded, he was an eye-catching third behind Horseradish (now 3lb better off) on four-year-old debut. Easy to see improvement and leading chance in this.

MEDICIAN MAN
Scored at Ascot last term in lower quality race off 5lbs lower mark; so needs to show he can now cut the mustard with the big boys. Ground may have been an excuse behind Horseradish latest but more negatives than positives at present.

ENDERBY SPIRIT
Nothing wrong with comeback win and has been rated much higher than this in the past. Has been handed a good draw today based on yesterday’s evidence and only negative really is question regarding his ability to cope with some top sprinters here.

MIDNIGHT MARTINI
No win since August 2009 a worry but probably more to come this year. Beverley run will have put her right for this but again is she good enough in against some of these? Decent York form a plus.

SONNY RED
Very tricky customer and hard to get his head infront, as evident by four wins in thirty-six starts. Not much to get excited about in recent times and have to pass over for the time being.

STAR ROVER
Win record not great since two year old days and another who is a very in and out performer now. A good second followed by a down the field effort on last two runs tells you all you need to know and surprise if up to winning this.

TOMBI
Started life for new yard in tame fashion at Pontefract and age might just be creeping up on him. Would be right in there with a great chance if recapturing some of his old form as nicely weighted now.

DESERT CREEK
Interesting Adrian takes the ride on this one rather than one of Dandy's who comes into this in much better form (Docofthebay). Poor show on AW reappearance but surprise if old master can't get something out of him this year and on fair mark.

EDINBURGH KNIGHT
Just touched off in decent Ascot race last Saturday and evidently there is more to come from him this year. Landed cracking draw and entitled to be thereabouts but this tougher race and needs to improve to take a hand.

SUMMARY

Another top quality handicap with twenty horses ready to rock ‘n’ roll down the Knavesmire. I’m sure there will be a few hard luck stories once more, as evident by the similar contest here yesterday and it paid to be near the stands side rail on that occasion. However, a lot of the better horses in this are drawn low to middle. The three that head the market stand out and it’s hard to separate them. HORSERADISH and OUR JONATHAN are closely matched on their Doncaster run and there shouldn’t be much between them once again. If anything, the latter probably has a slightly better chance this time around (despite his poor looking draw) given the fact he is 3lbs better off and had to make a challenge on the outer last time. The other up there with them is HOOF IT. He ended last season in sparkling form and has already attempted to run twice this season, being pulled out both times with ground concerns. That suggests he is special and the stable won the sprint here yesterday. Of the remainder Kaldoun Kingdom deserves a mention for his York record and form last season off this kind of mark. But it’s extremely tough to put one of the first three mentioned ahead of the other two and are all probably just about worth dutching at the prices available. Not one of my most original selections, and it's not something I enjoy doing too often, but all are too closely matched to justify leaving one out.

Watching brief for me, concerned with the draw for OJ but will cheer him on for those who have backed it.

Told you it was hard to split the three of them Laugh

Really pleased with that one. Unlucky yesterday with Racy who probably would have won with a clear passage. Next stop is York again a week on Saturday and then closely followed by the Dash at Epsom on 4th June. Cracking stuff.

Well done. Hoof It was a good bet - seriously good horse. I backed it too when it was due to run last time. Trainers son stated on RUK, that it was withdrawn because it banged its head in the horsebox .

Well done VK, cracking work.

WD VKLaugh[;)]

Tbh at the prices I could only bring myself to backing 2 horses in the race.

Hoof It does look an improver.

OJ keeps running on too late.

Our Jonathan will find a race in him before too long. He wasn't ideally drawn once more and to finish third behind Horseradish and Hoof It is no disgrace at all. The race was run in a very quick time and OJ will definitely pick up a nice prize at some stage when things fall right Happy

Could very well run a solid race in the Dash; have to wait and see the draw and opposition.

Thanks for the support Mr M and Facts Happy
