Good work VK. I think Hoof It might be very good this season and will certainly have a few quid on. Crown choice may well benefit from the drop back in trip though and for me is the danger if fully tuned up (I may knock off work early and go to the course for a look). Tabaret looks ready to win, but I'm hoping he comes to my local track in a couple of weeks time and does it there.

thank you for the write up...........am also interested that Fallon has the ride on Markington for Peter Bowen in the stayers race, has won on the horse here before and he will be cherry ripe after running in Big bucks race at Aintree

Staying out of this one as not much appeals at the prices for me. Crown Choice would be a token pick as the trainer has sent horses with 7f form to win over this stiff 6 before.
Discanti will like the quick ground and has won on his 2nd run of the season before but had everychance to win last time out, imo. |

Morning VK. Also liked Crown Choice and Tombi but went for a sleeper in Wildcat Wizard.
Crown Choice looks like he could make a decent sprinter and thought the Wokingham could be a possibility this year. A very decent sprint this afternoon and the one that makes some appeal at the prices to me is Wildcat Wizard at 16/1. He actually managed to finish 20 of 20 last time ! when apprentice ridden which doesn't look all that inspiring, but I'm going to ignore that run. On his previous run at Wolverhampton he showed up well round the outside until weakening, which was his first run for six months and his first for his new stable. His best form of 2010 when with Paul Cole gives him a solid chance today off 91. Blinkers are applied today which will hopefully have a positive effect and Andrew Mullen takes the ride. He shows a very healthy profit when riding for the stable and feel at 16/1 he looks worth a try. With the benefit of two runs he should be match fit which could well be an advantage over a number of todays runners and with some solid class 2 form from last year looks to have a decent chance. WILDCAT WIZARD 1 POINT E/W AT 16/1 (BOG) |

It is a tricky little puzzle despite the smallish field and it should be an interesting watch with future races in mind.
Good luck to everyone who is having a bet and it's good to see the debates and views from one and all ![]() |

Flipando gets it. Must be an owner dream that horses has won plenty during his career.
Kieren Fellon advised connections to take Hoof It out due to the ground. A close up finish so hard to tell how strong the form is. Crown Choice was intentionally dropped in and produced late but instead of marking his performance up like the commentators on RUK thought, for me he could have won if he was good enough, imo. |

Tombi was very weak on track so pehaps one for later in the season ? 5/1 out to 8/1 on betting shows.

Flipando's record over 6 furlongs round a left handed turn is 1213411 at prices of 25/1,9/1,8/1 & 7/1 with the 3 and 4 coming at Lingfield.

I did Sint but I hadn't realised VK had done a right up for this race.

Have had a quick look at today and one horse that stands out is Cape Royal whose record over 5F at Epsom (excluding runs in the Dash on Derby day) is 132222121 including 2 wins in this race in previous years. He won here last August off a lower mark than today and has a good drawn.
|
|
By:
Not sure about the draw. I know for certain that at the meeting in June a high draw is very important, but in the recent history of this race stall 2 has won twice in the last 4 years and stalls 1 & 2 were first and second last year.
I'm not sure what the reason for this is, perhaps less watering takes place in the spring, or perhaps 'spring' ground is more even? Or perhaps the best horse has just been drawn in stall 2 on those winning years? Its just a personal thing, but I'm not going to go overboard thinking a high draw is essential. |
|
By:
You may be right Leo, I think the reason a high draw is important in June is because in the dash they usually have 20 runners.

Michrich,
Do you by any chance follow 'Eddie The Shoe' on Twitter? eddietheshoe - Eddie Fremantle Old boy Cape Royal runs at Epsom tomorrow. His C&D record if you don't include 0000 in the Dash at Derby meeting reads 132222121. 12 Hours ago. |

By:
No I don't, but maybe I should with such incisive and thoughtful reading of form like that.

By:
Michrich,
Great minds think alike! Good luck in this. |

By:
Hmmm... Stall 5 beat stall 1. Hoss with the best pace won.

Very true Leo, Bertoliver made all last year in the dash. I think if you get to the front over 5F at Epsom it can be hard to get caught. Having just watched the replay the winner did end up next to the stands rail, which seems to be favoured most of the time, which is probably why there is a bias in big fields.

I've just come back from a few days away hence my absense from this thread.
It was really a shame that Hoof It was withdrawn from the Ponty race. I think he would have taken the world of beating. I didn't get a chance to look at the Epsom event as I was away but I've just seen it now and Spencer did well on the winner, sent him out in front and never looked back. Next big sprint is the one at Newmarket on 1000 Guineas day! |
