I see that Kirinda has an entry for the listed fillies race at Navan on Sunday over 10 furlongs.

I also see that John Oxx has entered her for the Derrinstown. I am surprised at this as she is a filly and this is obviously a Derby trial. She is the only filly entered.

Does anyone know if many fillies have run in this in the past?

Do you think it's just an administration error or if not, does it mean John Oxx rates her very, very highly?

33s for the Oaks - had a few quid on her today.

Being owned by the Aga Khan she is obviously well bred.

She won her debut nicely and the second has subsequently won a group 3.

Quite a few fillies have run in the Derrinstown Derby Trial in the past, but none in the last few years.  John Oxx came close to winning it with the filly Ebadiyla in 1997, who was only sixth at Epsom but went on to win the Irish Oaks by three lengths.  Jim Bolger's subsequent Oaks winner Jet Ski Lady was fourth in the 1991 renewal.  Kirinda looks a nice prospect and the Derrinstown entry does seem to indicate that she's very well regarded.

Thanks Jamesp, always good to see positive comments from you.

There was a paragraph in the Irish Times today about Kirinda and the race on Sunday. John Oxx was quoted as saying;

'We like her and she has been working well but this (Sunday) is a big step up in class for her.'

Slightly bizarre statement by Oxx saying we like her and then runs her at Dundalk on debut in Winter.

Strange for oxx to race 2yr olds so late in the year if he likes them.

I believe it when i see it personally

Travelled well, probably didn't get the best passage but finally found the gaps with plenty of time to win it. Still looked as if Murtagh had plenty under him but she just didn't follow through with her effort.

I'm really disappointed. She got in a winning position and didn't see it through.

Head carriage is not attractive.

I'm afraid she has no chance in the Derrinstown Derby Trial on that showing, never mind the Oaks.  But if today's race has taken the freshness out of her (she was noticeably keen through the early stages), she's well worth another try, perhaps in the Blue Wind Stakes on 11 May.

I think mesariya will be the stables representative in that race james, form franked nicely today by Siren's Song.

Sirens Song was unlucky that day RM. Oxx could have run Mesariya today but they really thought this one would win.

'She pulled too hard and was a bit fresh. It was only her second ever run.' said Oxx

'She could perhaps go for the Blue Wind next and we'll see if she settles well enough.'

From the Sporting Life website today.

Mesariya [;)]

Sirens Song was unlucky behind Mesariya on Debut. She didn't get the gaps.

Jessica has confirmed her for the English Oaks.
