Dirar 10/1 Fav: "He's in top form, he ran a great race in the County Hurdle and the Chester Cup has been the plan all year," said Gordon Elliott.
"He's fit and well and will be a fixture in the Cup races this year. If Jamie [Spencer] is available then we'd love to have him, but I haven't even spoken to him about it yet.
Thought Overturn ran a terrific race on sat trying to give the weight away whilst being taken on for the lead by Hunterview and Bygones of Brid, given decent ground and if able to repeat his plate win i think he has a cracking shout in this event

How about Desert Sea for this, anyone? 2lbs lower than 2009 and 10, been on the fringe in excellent staying handicaps, ie Ebor, Northumberland Plate and previous Chester Cups, better off with useful yardsticks like Mamlook, Dirar and Overturn. Price of 22 is still excellent value on here (have taken 34 to 39), 'cos when Desert Sea is in the final 17 declared, current price is massive. Had a run this year in the Queen's prize at Kempton, didn't last year, but did in 2009 before running 2nd to Daraahem in the Chester Cup. If Mr Arbuthnot engages Martin Dwyer, then fine, but the icing on the cake would be a useful 5lb claimer.
