Sorry if there is already a thread for this one.

Any negatives? If this was run on paper, this one wins by 20 lengths.

If it came up soft then great chance, not so sure on good going.

Not a shred of form on good ground and seems to have spent most of his career avoiding it. National winner written all over him if it comes up soft.

Really worried about the ground. Other than that he would have an excellent chance.

I'm a bit late with posting on this one but I have to agree with you all, if the rain comes he will have an absolute stonking chance of winning the National!!! I could never get out of my head how well he finished in the Welsh National a couple of years ago and I've followed him ever since! He is a tidy jumper, gallops and stays!!!

50 years since the last grey Nicholas Silver won!!! Silver By Nature has got to be the one for the Grand National, this kind of stuff happens!!!

I grabbed the 20-1 Coral was offering after he was confirmed for the race a few weeks ago.

I just hope the weather forecast is wrong for the next couple of weeks, Accuweather.com saying there is not much rain around Liverpool!!!

From an nate-post perspective, i'd be worried they might get cold feet if the ground is no worse than Good, which seems likely.

they plan on watering though to make safe groancy und. I'm in the same boat with my fancy Bluesea Cracker who needs at least some cut to be any way effective....fingers crossed for all of us

Why does Silver By Nature need soft ground> I know we all think he does but does he? because he has run to his top mark on soft but is it really a trip he needs.

By Silver Patriarch these horses dont mind good ground. Is it just that he needs a real stamina test...Grand National here we come. The last half a mile will be perfect for him.

Fair point Angel, for all we know he might even improve for better ground. But what we do know is that his best form so far has been on very testing ground, connections have been loathe to run him on good ground and he has quite a round action. He's priced up on the assumption of decent ground, could nearly start favourite if it's soft.

Topspeed of 177 seems pretty useful.

I can see where you are coming from AG but the more a test of stamina it is the better chance Silver has got and he does have a high knee action, so let the heavens open!!!

Had another look at Accuweather and the outlook looks better for us!!! This bunch of dipsticks seems to change the forecast every 5 minutes, there is now a fair amount of rain forecast this week and most of next week!!! Fingers crossed they are right for a change!!!

He has the highest Top Speed in the race. G/S would be fine im sure, even with a high knee action. He is guaranteed to relish the trip. Running off 148 compared to his revised 159. I cant wait.

sbn national odds for the ground

heavy 6/1
soft 7/1
gd/soft 10/1
good 14/1
fast 20/1

You could back all 5 and be in profit!Cool..i like that market gd/soft i think. It will never be fast again in the history of the race.

Silver By Nature also ticks all the boxes on the trends. Age, Class, Distance, Days since last race, number of falls in career. Its all there. Rain is in the air and it will be gd/soft on the day. Perfect.

'He has the highest Top Speed in the race. G/S would be fine im sure'

You may well be right, but fair to point out that easily his best Topspeed rating was achieved on heavy ground last time.

If the various weather forecasts are right it's going to be soft ground at least on Grand National day!!! Time to go in again, I'm getting more confident about this by the day, everything looks like it's falling into place for Silver!!! [:)]

Weather forecasts vary but the 10 day one I looked at ( http://uk.weather.com/weather/10day-Liverpool-UKXX0083 ) says light rain until Wednesday and then sunshine for the rest of the week - that's not the kind of weather Tonto wants Sad

silver has a big chance on soft but he was being ridden with a circuit to go at haydock and will get too far behind on good ground

When: 01 Apr 11 18:52
I have to agree with you boy wonder, I'm just trying to convince myself it's going to be soft ground because deep down I know what the outcome will be if it's not!!!

What will be will be!!! [:(]
