Right trainer NT-D English & Scottish National wins.. 10yo still improving, up 34lbs since Dec 09. Won 4 chases this season, 21furlongs - 26 furs, 50% of runs. 3rd best RPR of National field currently 178 with Quinz. Guaranteed to get in off 10st 7lbs. Trainer stated his two main entries were GSH & Hello Bud, and "GSH could be joker in the pack" when interviewed following announcement of weights. Was looking at getting on for a bit of interest. Any major reason it`s drifted to 260`s? |

come round to the idea of tidal bay his record at aintree is great he might be quirky but is consistant. on good ground 4m4f should suit he just has to take to the fences , there are a lot in that boat though. tidal prices in relation to what a friends is crazy

The national used to be a strong trends race. Basically the winner had to carry less than 11 stone, have won a race over 3m 1f or over, have run well in either the Cheltenham Gold Cup, Hennessey, Welsh National, Irish National or Ritz (William Hill trophy) in either that season or the season previously.
There are a few horses that could be classed as outsiders in this years race that fall into the above trends - the two I like are from unfasionable trainers and hence their prices are good value. Chief Dan George won last seasons Willaim Hill Trophy at Cheltenham (has been backed recently but still around 33/1) Bluesea Cracker won last years Irish National (available at around 33/1) |

CDG was well backed last year if I remember rightly but didn't get in. Would certainly be a 'story' with Moffatt returning from illness. 5th in a Scottish National as well as that win in the Will Hill.

I hoovered up the 150 down to 120 Northern Alliane last night, now down to 75.
4th in the Jewson 2 years ago and winner of the Kerry National last season, not beaten far in this seasons renewal off top weight he gets in on 10st 8lb and has been crying out for a severe stamina test. Also like: Chief Dan George Calgary Bay State of Play Big Fella Thanks |

Chief Dan George at 50/1 for me. Racing off 148 (he won off 142 in 2010 WH Trophy). Has form on good ground, and he was 5th in Scottish National off 139 two years ago. Spring horse, reliable, only fallen once in his career (last time out funnily enough).
Others that interest me at tasty prices are: 1) Grand Slam Hero: Racing off 143 (won cl2 handicap at Ffos Las 3 starts ago off 138); likes good ground (won summer plate in 2010 off 129). Been on the go since May 2010 so unconventional campaign for a national winner. And his last five races read FP18P so you clearly can't rely on him. However, at 160 on here that's priced in. 2) West End Rocker: Won gd3 3m5f race in the mud up at Warwick in January off 133 (racing off 141 on Saturday). PU nto at Haydock in the Silver by Nature race but that was only a month after his Warwick exertions, so can possibly be excused. Progressive stayer? |
