Looks like there is a lot of rain around the Doncaster area Wednesday onwards!!! Tartan Gigha doesn't look that tempting now, I think I will wait for the draw and see where the pace is!!!
I would have to agree with crazyharrybaxter, if he got in and it came up soft Gunner Lindley would have a good chance! |

The ground is pretty quick at the moment but obviously with rain around who knows what it'll be like come saturday- I'll have a jog around the course a couple of times over the next few days and feedback. The turf is very bare at the moment with (I think) far less grass cover than Lincoln day last year- which wasn't great. When I was last on the track on friday I had the feeling that there was slightly more grass on the stands side, but in truth it was almost uniformly poor.

Anyone know what de sousa rides???

Taqleed now guaranteed to get a run at number 20. Just want a nice draw now

What will "a nice draw" be Unc?
By:
stalls 1-9 imo,
By:
True Town Moor the grass covering looks baldish to bare in some places with more bare sprinkilings than plain old soil. Did you see that some nutter had tried to burn the water jump fence down and made a right old mess.
By:
isn't it low draw if soft, high draw if GF ..
By:
Downy/Sint, I'm not sure there is enough evidence yet on the draw since the track was relayed. I can see the stats re 6 of last 9 drawn low, but that isn't much of a sample, and consolation race run on same day often seems to throw a different result.
Liberator, I think the turf is the worst I've ever seen it. I was amazed that somebody was stupid enough to burn the fence, the racecourse is one of the few reasons anyone from outside would visit donny, and people try to damage it! |

Gunner Lindley for me, think many factors will be in favour...

I'm on GL, any news of some rain yet?

My guess is that Kalk Bay is still v. well hcapped but will he have the experience for a cavalry charge?
Irish Heartbeat looks the best of Fahey's but the fav. remains to me the one with the ticks in all the boxes. |
By:
Anyone know why Kalk Bay turned it in at newcastle,i like the horse but something is rather off putting whenever i watch that race again
By:
trainer does not think kalk bay will get in.
By:
Very light rain overnight, just a couple of mm, no further rain yet today.
By:
fremont well fancied!!!!!!!!

Going by prices on here looks like Fareer, Doctor Crane, Penitent and Shamali all will not be declared. Looks like Donny hasn't received much rain this week and dry forecast over next few days. Ground on fast side of good possibly, which Fareer would have loved.
By:
4/1 - 7/2 Taqleed now.
same price as Penitent last year |
By:
Actually, money lined up for Shemali so maybe he will run. Strange that Fareer looks like being taken out. Will Taqleed be ok on good ground possibly on the fast side? My only doubt.
By:
If the going stick reading is reliable its nearly soft now, check out Turftrax for the history!!!
By:
We had steady very light rain throught last night, which again amounted to a couple of mm. We now have very strong winds and a bright sunny afternoon so will be drying. Though I wouldn't disagree with the current going description.
By:
Plenty of pace nearside with Brae Hill and Gunner Lindley and as the stalls are placed there id think that high is the place to be
By:
spring mile will tell us a lot kalk bay in 1, eton forever in 16.
By:
It should do but history is littered with misleading races on the same day, remember last year when they did the complete opposite in the two races
![]() ![]() |
By:
Indeed, the winners came from opposite sides last year.
By:
The dark horse Fremont has the right profile for me - 12/1 not as good as 33/1 but will do for me, especially if Tom Segal picks one from each side 'cos Frement could well then be in the firing line.
By:
what's peoples opinions of the draw ? fav drawn middle for diddle, ( 11 of 22 ). or do we wait till spring cup run ?
By:
Spring Mile (know what you meant).
Can't say I like Taqleed's draw all that much. Should go low though, and I'd say that was the place to be. |
By:
Stupid question, what were the balloted out horses ?
By:
*Having said that, fancy the fav.
Prince Of Dance from left field. |
By:
Light from Mars... whooooooosh.
By:
Hugh Taylor tipped Light From Mars fyi.
By:
not played in the race myself(except few shillings e/w Irish Heartbeat)but another plus for Light From Mars backers?
Queally 3/3 for yard |
By:
Prime Exhibit 3 pts
Prince Of Dance 1 pt Castles In The Air 1 pt Like the look of the low drawn horses, unless something weird happens in the opener I'd expect one of the low drawn horses to be winning this. Out of those drawn 1-5 I cant have Tartan Gigha who wouldn't have beaten Prime Exhibit last time out without help in running and is now 4lbs worse off with the weight allowance for Prime's apprentice jockey who has won on the horse before. Also can't have the top weight. |
By:
The Eaton double could it happen?

What a terrible decision to pull Taqleed out of the race at the last minute. Sweet Lightning shouldn't be winning a Lincoln. Taqleed would have won in my opinion if they had let it take it's chance a la Expresso Star under the same circumstances. Such a shame.
By:
agreed VK
poor excuse imo pulling horses out on good ground |
By:
it was to do with the grass cover not firmness imo. they felt the ground was false.
obviously they think a lot of Raqleed and dont want him injured. |
