He jumped great on his debut, the trip looks plumb at this stage of his career, the form has been franked twice by Torphicen, and also on aline through Noble Prince.
Blazing Tempo also represents Mullins. She has been a new aquisition for the yard and so far she has looked top class. But IF she runs in the (also has another engagement in a Mares race) she will be taking on the boys and needs to improve.
MDH - taking a risk here but not toally sure he will run. And even if he does, who wants to back ? He did bounce last time, but there was more to it than that imo, he jumped to his right and hung, why not just give him an easy assignment somewhere before trying for a Grade 1 again?!
Quito De La Roque is a class horse, but he needs a real test of stamina, usually on Heavy ground, and this trip is short of 3 miles.
Magnanimity - won last time out and is lightly raced, but was in receipt of weight from Jessies Dream and was a fortunate win that day, as Jessies Dreams jumping let him down badly on the final circuit and he jumped right at the last fence costing him a precious few lengths, and was only beat half a length at the finish.
The rest dont look good enough imvho.

Still keen on the 5/1 about Mikael - He'd have been 6/4 if he stood up in the Drinmore and how people can be writing him off after just one below-par run in his entire career baffles me. He'll be 5/2 if he lines up and Willie states that he's very likely to.

Some horses make natural chasers, others may need extra help like Long Run whose jumping was average last season but absolutely transformed this after I took the mick that they revealed they didnt school him then. They have made an effort to improve his jumping in the indoor school as revealed by Waley-Cohen and to their absolute credit have come up trumps this season he has been excellent compared to last. Does Mullins do anything if, like Long Run, they are not naturals that fall in their lap as novice chasers. It would not surprise me one bit if he just cops out and sends them back over hurdles rather than improves them to win a King George which Mikael D'Haguenet has the engine to be a major contender for next season.
You all just listen to pocket talking Fkwit CVByrne and ignore me.

another stupid comment from Eric. Flat Out lost today eric because he went from a beginners chase into a Grade 1 within 2 weeks. He was short on the experience needed for a top race.

Lets get this right, you thought Long Run was a natural jumper last season when he hit fences throughout the RSA. They did masses of work in the indoor school with him because he was a natural and you know better. Is that right?

3 mistakes in the Feltham, a mistake in the Kingmaker, 2 or 3 mistakes in the RSA.
1 slight mistake the PPower and none in the King George.
Are you sure you believe what you are saying here?

I would say the indoor schooling has improved his jumping vastly already, will Mullins do this with none natural novice chasers in his care, especially the ones, like Long Run, with vast engines.

Blocking me or any of the others makes absolutely no difference because we've no intention of following you or going anywhere near you. You'll be barred soon enough anyway with a bit of luck

Bob Lingo pleased connections in a workout after racing at Leopardstown on Sunday ahead of a possible tilt at the Dr PJ Moriarty Chase back at the Dublin track in two weeks' time.
The JP McManus-owned nine-year-old got off the mark over fences in good style at Fairyhouse on New Year's Day and he may return there for his next run if trainer Tom Mullins decides to skip the Grade One contest.
"He's doing well. He did a bit of work on Sunday after racing in Leopardstown and he worked well," said the County Kilkenny handler.
"He might go to the Moriarty. If he doesn't go there, he'll go to Fairyhouse early next month for a winners of one.
"We might keep him going right-handed for the time being, we'll see how we get on."

ballymak stayed like a train again today though. trainer said would more than likely be contesting the top staying novice chases this season. think over 3m would have won quite well. 390 days off before it ran last time and that was first time over fences, stayed on really well over 3m and was beaten by alpha ridge and noun de la tint (not awful form after 13 months off and no chase experience) and was 21 lengths in front of 4th giving it 5lb (same horse it finished 16 lengths in front of today off levels), a further 16 lengths back to the mullins horse in 5th off same weight (who finished only 6 lengths behind magnanimity off level weights)

It is possible but i've heard or read anything. The way he has been campaigned so far would suggest they'll stick to 2 miles, at least while the ground is testing.

Blazing Tempo has been declared to run in a mares race tomorrow.
The Gowran race Tharawaat is in has 8 entrants, with no Quel Esprit. Mullins runs Quadrillon in that race, so it looks like it will be QE and/or MDH for the Moriarty.

Mullins will be hoping his red-hot form can continue to next Sunday when Kempes and Cooldine will line up in the Hennessy Gold Cup at Leopardstown.
After racing at Punchestown, they chased Dr PJ Moriarty Chase-bound Mikael D'Haguenet who also jumped nine fences under Townend.
Mullins said: "I was delighted with that and they all jumped well and the riders were very happy. Kempes [David Casey] and Cooldine [Davy Condon] will run next Sunday and the plan is to run Mikael D'Haguenet in the Moriarty along with Quel Esprit."

The fact that he rode Mikael in a schooling session against Cooldine & Kempes last Sunday answers that question. I know Mikael is priced purely on reputation but he was just unfortunate more than anything else in the Drinmore. Think he could be slightly bigger on the day however.

Thinking alternatively, if MDH,Kempes and Cooldine were all schooling on Sunday, why wasn't QE ?
Im wondering if he is going to run now! [:o] And if he does, who rides, Condon ?

Will give us a big clue re the RSA chase. Mikael looked like beating RSA 2nd fav Jessie's Dream when he knuckled at the last first time out in a Grade 1. Magnanimity in this Sundays race beat Jessie's Dream narrowly last time out.
If Mikael beats Magnanimity on Sunday it will confirm his form against Jessie's Dream and make Mikael a rightful 2nd fav for the RSA in place of current RSA 2nd fav Jessie's Dream.

You wouldn't want to be backing Quel Esprit ante-post, even when it's indicated that he will run. Punter have ripped up their slips twice now, at the final decs stage in a month spell. Having said that, I always felt that it was 50% chance that he would run.

Magnanimity was receiving 8lb from Jessie Dreams that day and depending on which view you take, JD did jump or travel well either OR Timmy Murphy gave him shocking ride.
Magnanimity is a slow plodder so if MDH cannot beat him over this trip then i'd be mighty surpsied. It hs no bearing on the Jessies Dream form with the weight concession.imo

have a look at mikaels 1st race against jessies dream (i know u have to jump but just look at them both and consider that was his first run, bounced next time), he was laughing at jessies dream and townend only drew his whip at the last, never used it, was gonna beat jessies dream on the bridle, hes gonna destroy them.

He is sj but a bigger price. Originally priced at 5/2 with PP at the five day stage, but now they go 7/2. Given that ante-post rules apply, I wonder if they are trying to tempt a few in and he'll actually take up another engagement.

Yep, even though it would suit me not to have him in the race that racing for you Sint. Hate all this crying about trainers changing their minds! A lot can happen in a week in racing - just look at poor Cooldine, was 2nd fav for the Hennessy 2days ago, could be finished now.
Rough with the smooth - will usually level itself out over time.

i've certainly got lucky with the cancellation Das. I will not get a run for my money when I thought 2pt and more in acca's had gone down the pan.
That said, you could say I got unlucky with the horse pulling his shoe off 2 days before the race anyway!
As you say, swings and roundabouts.

I am confused. Mullins has double entered both MKD and QE at the w/e. Is he planning to run both in this race or save one for Navan? Or is Navan a back up plan for either or both if an early casualty? Or is a a safety net incase racing abandoned?
