as said in post on other forum, is get me out of here not running off same mark as when winning same race 12 months ago? hasnt impressed in runs this season but trainer says has had minor problem with back/hock (and some could think handicap mark to be protected?) if has in fact progressed nicely as supreme form has (menorah, oscar whisky) could it not win this then become a live champion hurdle contender?
Report Koo.... January 20, 2011 9:48 PM GMT
Hasnt recession proof a hell of alot to prove to be such a big mover ?

Thats two in a week - backed Flat Out at 16/1 for the Arkle and had 10/1 on Tocca Ferro for the Totesport Cry
Report beckenhamben January 26, 2011 5:05 PM GMT
Thats really bad luck, final approach must have a fair chance now, but Mr Mullins other one, call the police was only just behind him in the MCR, I don't see why he is such a big price price, or is he is a doubtful runner?
Report Anaglogs Daughter January 26, 2011 5:25 PM GMT
Ante-post favourite Tocca Ferro has been ruled out of the totesport Trophy at Newbury as well as the rest of the season after meeting with a setback.

Emma Lavelle's six-year-old impressed on his first two starts of the campaign at Ascot and Newbury, but has suffered a leg injury after working at Kempton on Tuesday.

"Tocca Ferro is out for the season and is suffering from a small tear in a tendon," said Lavelle.

"He worked very well at Kempton on Tuesday and I'm absolutely gutted."

Walkon and Final Approach are the new 7/1 joint-favourites with the sponsors for the Newbury race.

Walkon had been 8/1 second-favourite after his encouraging reappearance at Ascot over the weekend whilst Final Approach was a strong 10/1 shot following his victory in the MCR Hurdle at Leopardstown.

"Tocca Ferro's absence from the t0tesport Trophy is a real kick in the teeth for antepost punters who had lumped on and it now seems that Alan King holds all the aces with both Walkon and Salden Licht prominent in the market," said t0tesport spokesman George Primarolo.

t0tesport Trophy - sponsors bet: 7 (from 8) Walkon, 7 (from 10) Final Approach, 9 (from 10) Salden Licht, 10 (from 12) Get Me Out Of Here, Notus de la Tour, 12 Others
Report sintonian January 27, 2011 3:48 PM GMT
Call the Police stays in Ireland according to WM.
Report unclepuncle January 28, 2011 9:55 AM GMT
The weather forecast is for it to remain totally dry and cold for the next 2-3 weeks so the going could be very much on the quickish side - haven't gone through the runners yet to see who this might beneift or inconvenience but it should help narrow the field down a bit.
Report beckenhamben January 28, 2011 1:55 PM GMT
Thanks sintonian, was thinking of having a little bit at big odds, but couldn't figure why so big.

Report beckenhamben February 1, 2011 4:25 PM GMT
Call The Police now 20, but no one seems interested in it. Final Approach on the drift too. Looks like Walkon and Salden Licht are the popular choices.
Report clouded leopard February 6, 2011 3:58 PM GMT
another form boost for salden licht with hunterview winning at muss today

nice run from alfie spinner at the weekend also
Report stewardsenquirey February 7, 2011 8:54 AM GMT
I expect Iolith to drift on the day,but that's the horse I'll be backing.
Report yourbestmate February 7, 2011 12:49 PM GMT
Iolith has a lovely racing weight.

The race looks quite top heavy with a lot of the classier horses carrying 11-6 or more.
Report baracouda30 February 7, 2011 6:49 PM GMT
Surely last year's winner is looking very good for this?

Runs this season have been too bad to be true. Ascot was 'strange' shall we say, the Greatwood run ended over 20 lengths behind a horse it had run so close in the Supreme. Menorah has progressed, but not over 20 lengths.

Absolutely convinced that a huge run is on the cards. 11.5 right now looks huge to me.
Report fearless punter February 7, 2011 7:01 PM GMT
Couldn't agree more. I expect there to be a plunge on this on Saturday. That's the thing about that mob, they play it low and dirty, very old school, and they have a legion of followers. You have to weigh up whether this is the one, and that's before you've worked out where your morals are...oh no they've gone. I'm enjoying backing them less and less as they get more and more outrageous, but of course if they win I couldn't give a toss.
Report R Carver February 7, 2011 7:57 PM GMT

Betchworth kid must have agood chance in this, whizzed past salden licht when 2ND in november h'cap and is 7Lb better off ,newbury  will suit better than kempton last time.Hopefully will get a fast pace and jump ok, four times the price of salden licht so must be worth a punt
Report Koo.... February 9, 2011 10:15 PM GMT
Palomar only 50-50 to run with a slight muscle pull.   Is having treatment and hopefully will be ok.
Will have a stiff canter tomorrow to see how he has responded to treatment
Report the_piglet February 10, 2011 1:05 AM GMT
Thanks for that Koo.  Whats your thoughts on Bothy?  Weather could play into his hands and Danny Cook takes off another three
Report askari1 February 10, 2011 2:53 AM GMT
It's the kind of race where the steady, honest improvers like Soldatino and Salden Licht get mugged by something that's been keeping its light under a bushel.

I like the chances of Get Me Out of Here (agree there cd be a big market move) and Notus de la Tour, that had a good pipe-opener when being backed lto. There are also horses at a bigger price like Bothy and Zanir that have showed the ability to run well in the race.

obviously fpr Bothy the more rain the better.   His form last time means he has a good chance.
His owner will have looked more closely at the form and might offer an opinion on here.   I dont like saying too much when they're others peoples horses from the same yard

they worked yest morning, iolith paired with wo & sl with mille chief

iolith missed some work last week & did not eat up, they had an iffy scope and were thinking of skipping this but but was scoped after work yest and is given the all clear to run, would prefer no more rain
