What on earth makes you say he didn't jump very well fto ?
By:
end of the month at newbury
By:
This for real?? He jumped really well at Newbury.

MM - don't think they have a meeting at the end of Jan, the day before Cheltenham (Jan), this yr, just next Weds 19th, 2m1 novice chase.
By:
i think he guessed at 2 or 3 of his fences. for real.
i also think he will better on flatter tracks. not sure he got up the hill all that well last year. seems like they are going to run just once more then the big one which might leave him short of experience. |
By:
he fiddled a couple,no bad thing at all.You may be right about flat tracks, although i feel he ran well and battled in the challow on heavy ground, and just did not see out the 2m5 in the Neptune against some good opposition inc a big fancy for the CH,and a Royal Ascot winner.
back to 2m should suit him fine, and see him getting home ok. |
By:
Not at all worried about his campaign,if trainer thinks 2 races is enough, thats fine with me.
By:
sorry got my dates wrong i meant the nov chase next wednesday..
By:
entered for next wednesday
By:
cheers for the heads up MM.
not sure we will learn much about about him in that race will we. henderson found an easy one think |
By:
Keeping him fresh? Maybe that is the way with Finians.
By:
Yep don't forget hes only had 6 runs under rules at the age of 8.
By:
Not jumped well!? I thought he looked great over fences, very flat and very fast! Problem is that style is susceptible to falls; backed him for the Arkle and will close my eyes at every fence!!
By:
so dwm77 u think he jumps so well u wont be able to watch the race??
Doesnt really make sense but i do know what u mean the ones he got right he was very quick at. |
By:
Well he's only had one run over fences and looked pretty good with his jumping even if he did get a bit close to one or two. Think he's one of the better jumpers out of the arkle candidates.
By:
A nice run at Newbury next week followed by the Kingmaker at Warwick should get the required jumping experience into him before cheltenham. I suspect the Newbury race will cut up but lets hope a few turn up as the Arkle will be 10 runners + come March.
By:
Anthony Bromley said yesterday they may send Nadia De La Vega for the Kingmaker aswell so it's possible NJH could have more than one runners.
By:
Has any1 said FR going to Kingmaker?
By:
Not that I know of. Was just following on from the post before tbh
By:
surely hes got to have one decent test over fences before the arkle.
but must admit im on Ghizao so really just hoping he runs and gets beat. kingmaker will be a better test of his jumping and hope he falls apart |
By:
I was guessing he might go for the Kingmaker; Henderson won it last year with Long Run and thought it would fit the schedule nicely but I havent heard anything official.
By:
If next weeks race cuts up and judging the entries I can see it being 3-4 runners again; then surely one more run will be required before the Arkle?
There arnt many good opportunities other than the Kingmaker and a graded race at Donny! |
By:
3 runners.

As I'm already on GHIZAO at 12's for the Arkle, and had another wager at 6's at the weekend, I will be very interested in seeing Finians Rainbow chasing again.
It always tickles me when observations of chasers refer to jumping ability. To see the best jumpers of a fence, watch the top (very top) 2-mile chasers. They skim the tops, jumping long and flat. There is an immense picture of grand old Tingle Creek taking a fence at Sandown - the race was named after him - and he's nearly a stride further out from the fence than where other jumpers leap from. Because their trajectory is long and flat, when they hit a fence they go down. Hence the record of Moscow Flyer of either winning or falling, nothing in-between. So, I can imagine the holders of betting slips with the fastest chasers on, will all catch their breath when their fancy takes a fence at speed. The others will know that their "place" money is safe. |

the shrewdies all say that fr has a good e/w chance tmrw[;)]
By:
very dissaponting that everyone has ducked out of the race tmoz!
By:
same with peddlers cross as well though aint it everyon elooks likely to duck him and he,ll be 1/8 for a grade 2
By:
Yep ridiculous. And the trainers and owners complain about prizemoney.
By:
in fariness the race tomorrow is hardly going to make connections rich.
By:
Talking about PC race tbh. I know tmoz race isn't worth much.
By:
im quite happy to see him running in these non events. like i said before im on Ghizao for the arkle and finians now looks like turning up in the race without enough experience. two wins in 3 runner races at long odds he would have learnt as much staying at home.
obviously not nicky hendersons fault that no one has turned up but he could have gone for better races. |
By:
wont make a difference to his Arkle chances, just needs to turn up fit on the day.Today will help get him there.
By:
as so as he has some pressure put on his jumping it will come apart.
think henderson knows that which is why hes opted to run him in these micky mouse races. |
By:
there is still time for him to run again, early Feb or so imo, but I tend to agree, going into the Arkle with just these two 3 runners races under his belt would not be ideal.
By:
and thats why I have laid my stake back on here.

Finian's Rainbow puts his unbeaten record over fences on the line against just two rivals in the Zenergi Novices' Chase at Newbury on Wednesday.
Nicky Henderson's eight-year-old signed off his novice hurdle campaign with a fine fifth behind Peddlers Cross at the Cheltenham Festival and made a most impressive start to his chasing career here in November. Most bookmakers have him as their joint-favourite alongside Ghizao for the Arkle Trophy at Cheltenham in March. Henderson's assistant Tom Symonds said: "He's just had a little break after his first run. We didn't think he stayed the trip in the Challow Hurdle last year so we've dropped him back. "I've always thought he'd be competitive at this trip and you'd hope he'll get further as he gets older. "For me, the plan would pretty much be the Arkle, although Nicky has plenty of other horses for it. "I'm not saying he'll love the ground at Newbury, but hopefully he should get through it." |

By:
let the trainer do his job.not once has he said anything negative about his chances.Seems to me only know alls on here do that!!
He knows what hes doing. |
