thanks

Should be a refund as race will now re-open.
Report turnip turns December 26, 2010 4:34 PM GMT
Bookmakers William Hill have said that if the race is reopened, all ante-post bets made before midday on December 20 will stand. Any bets made after that time will be void.

However, if the race is not reopened then all bets stand.

No decision yet on re-opening[;)]

Will entries be reopened? Yes or no.

they seem to make up their own rules ,i thought of a race was not run within 5 days. punters could ask for a full refund ,but times are hard for bookmakers and they are making money on accrued interest on your money !

This is interesting - the race is being run 3 weeks later, which could mean that horses go 'over the top' in the next 3 weeks, and what if a horse is pulled out now on the morning of the re-staged race (or in the days before)? You lose your stake, like all AP betting,  but if the race had been held on the 26th, the horse would have been a definate runner. 3 weeks later is too long to retain all original bets. Like to see the industry justify this.

r carver, that can definitely happen, it happened to me on the 1997 grand national. i backed belmont king ante post he was fancied and about third or forth in the betting. he all set to run in it but the race wasn't run because of the bomb scare and was run on the monday but belmont king didn't run in it on the monday. i lost my money because it was an ante post bet.

Interesting angle. 3 weeks makes it even easier for a horse who was a definate runner on the 26th to becomes a non-runner.

Don't think they have decided yet, BHA racing admin site has a banner stating "full details will be posted on this site on December 29th".

Lots looking for their money back on horses who were none runners before Boxing Day imo. Is that fair to layers?
Report R Carver December 28, 2010 9:37 PM GMT
No Eric, i do not think that would be, but if i'd backed Sizing Europe 3 month ago at a big price, and he was all set to run on the 26th, or 27th, and now does not run because its another 3 weeks, i'd be a bit sick. Of course if i had 5-4 for Kauto i'd want all bets to stand.. As Bobby says, lets wait and see.

I have little doubt the vast majority looking for this had a none runner on Boxing Day, chancers tbh bringing Sizing Europe up instead of owning up to their legit none runner(s).
Report eric_morris December 28, 2010 9:49 PM GMT
Betfair should settle bets giving the money to layers if the horse wasnt declared on Boxing Day if they then re-open the market with refunds on declared horses as that is the terms the backers took. You cant have it both ways if you dont like this and yet raise the Sizing Europe example.

Not sure what you are suggesting KSM but I can assure you I am not a punter who had backed something AP that was not declared overnight.

Betfair should settle bets giving the money to layers if the horse wasnt declared on Boxing Day - i have no problem with this.

If i had backed a horse AP (say, months ago) that was nto declared overnight (say Imperial Commander) i would have no problem not receiving that stake + tbh I think anyone who had backed a horse AP that was pulled out in advance of final decs must have written the bet off. That is the risk of AP betting + it is tough. We have all been there, and no one can complain.

However, if i'd backed a horse that was declared overnight,  was all set to run, was spot on for boxing day, had received a perfect prep and now is a non-runner in 3 weeks i'd be pretty upset. Say i'd backed the same horse, and a week before the restaged race it now missed some crucial work due to the weather (and the trainer was open about it) but said 'well the owners want to run, and though its now only 90 fit, we will run anyway because the horse wont do himself any harm and its a cracking day out' i would be pretty upset.

What do you think Eric?
Report eric_morris December 28, 2010 11:08 PM GMT
As I said you cant have it both ways and imo the majority raising this will be looking for their cash back from the likes of Imperial Commander who was a genuine non runner on Boxing Day.
Report Bobby Dazzler December 29, 2010 12:36 PM GMT
The BHA are still debating the issue, but if the race is reopened then Imperial Commander will run
