Looking at the long range weather sites and BBC monthly forecast it looks like it will stay bitterly cold with snow until the New year at least.

If Kempton was unraceable the other day I don't see it changing by Boxing Day, and the other courses have no chanceCry.

Maybe Leopardstown might get one or two days of it's Christmas meeting on but even thats looking doubtful.

When the AW tracks get called off then it's a real sign of how bad it is.

I agree, it looks like it could be at least 5 days before we see some jumps racing. And that is being optimisitc. It was a record breaking -10c in London last night. In London ffs!!

It was originally suppossed to get a bit warmer (3-5' C) from Christmas Eve onwards but the latest forecasts I've seen suggest that it will only reach about 0-1'C at best and then get colder again leading up to the New YearSad

Sadly looks like ALL the xmas racing will be a total write off with the weather not starting to warm up until around New yr or just after.

The met office forecast for Kempton suggests that the temperatures will be alot better towards the end of the week.

Lets just hope it improves enough for boxing day!

Racing Post now reporting Kempton clerk of course admits it is looking very doubtful as thaw won't come quickly enoughCry Maybe they can delay for 48 hours?
Report Why so serious? December 20, 2010 8:07 PM GMT
kempton is on the 27th so surely if thaw is starting xmas day and course is still not raceable boxing day they could run the king george on the 27th
Report Alvarado December 20, 2010 8:59 PM GMT

Report Graeme83 December 20, 2010 9:01 PM GMT

For those of you old enough to remember - reminds me ofthe days of the ITV 7 when, at this time of the year when the weather was bad, they'd show 4 or 5 races from Harringey with Reg Gutteridge on ITV...

Slightly more encouraging report about boxing day prospects for Kempton just posted on Sporting Life site.

How half of the snow has melted away, as the CoC reports, I don't know. Temperatures still appear to be around zero in London. I hope it is not the CoC who is providing the hot air.
Report buddeliea December 21, 2010 5:42 PM GMT
watching kempton now, awful lot of snow on course.
Report Howdi December 21, 2010 6:11 PM GMT
11-10 we get racing on 26th kempton
Report bigben December 21, 2010 6:25 PM GMT
It all seems to depend on what snow they get over the next 24 hours, less than a couple of centimetres and i think we"ll be onCool
Report buddeliea December 21, 2010 8:05 PM GMT
how would you come to that conclusion, you an expert on this sort of thing??
Report bigben December 21, 2010 8:42 PM GMT
No not at all, but the only snow they are forecast is tonight & the daytime temps are more encouraging in the latter half of the week.

Fingers crossed!
Report buddeliea December 21, 2010 9:08 PM GMT
