Heard Massini's Maguire might run here for Pipe, could be interesting
By:
Can't jump to save his life though ben?
Wasn't aware he'd moved to Pipe either ![]() |
By:
Been doing plenty of schooling apparently, not a natural though tbf
By:
Would liked to have seen him going the Stayers Hurdle route tbh. Best years behind him now imo
By:
If anyone can get that last bit of ability out of him it will be the Pipe team [;)]
By:
Massini's has always seemed best at distances short of 3m to me.
By:
Massinis Would be an interesting long term project for something like the RP Plate at the Festival
By:
will we get another 4 runner field ?
By:
Is Silver By Nature a possibility for this one? Looking forward to its return
By:
redal2 he goes for the hennessey (ground depndant)
By:
I hope Ollie could make it three - carried the NTD yard through a couple of dark years. ?May not be much of him but he has the heart of a lion.

Cheers abbott.
If there is the forecast heavy rain I'd hope that Sa Suffit can go well, he has a good record FTO |
By:
Sa Suffit on soft ground, Calgary Bay if the rain stays away.

Do we think Sa Suffit will take up the engagement or run on the Friday ? I hope he goes for it I am about to back him ...
By:
Top weight in a listed race or middle to bottom in the Charlie Hall. Course Winner, second season chaser, French Bred, rain forecast and it should come up soft. 20/1 VC Bet 1pt win, thank you.

Sa Suffit going to turn up but this doesn't bode well
21Nov09 Haydock ( 16 Sft ,RPR149 ) A stiff two miles and soft ground is what he wants. He's carried 11st 12lb to win, but how far he can go is anyone's guess.I remember taking him to Catterick last season and thinking he looked like a starved whippet. I just couldn't get weight on him, but he's different now. He's matured and I also feed him differently; he gets a pint of flax oil a day.-J P L Ewart, trainer |
By:
Weird Al entered in the Grade 2 at Carlisle on Sunday and that is trainers 1st choice so dont be fooled into backing him if you see him in a market on thursday.
By:
Duc De Regnieres and Carruthers interesting here.

Sa Suffit will be running with a 6lb penalty here (for class 2 wfa win at Kelso) so he's actually not well in under these race conditions, he's towards the top of the weights (only two horses with higher pens, and three with similar the rest will get weight from him). Would seem easier task at Ascot but he never goes RH so I guess runs here.
Massinis Magure isn't penalised here, but will trainer really sacrifice what might be handy handicap mark of 146 (in the Ascot race) when most of his best form is RH? For me the best horse in at the weights will be the unpenalised Barbers Shop (also in at Ascot but off top wt and trainer doesn't run him in hcps with lots of weight). Nacarat unpenalised would also seem well in here, though unlikely to be at his best going LH. Assuming plenty of rain comes then The Tother One to me looks a very likely if obvious type, stays further so will appreciate what looks likely to be a strongly run race (Carruthers, Deep Purple, Sa Suffit, Ollie Magern, Nacarat all can front run) |
By:
thanks, have you got the list of weights please
By:
Duc De Regnieres also has entries in the Ascot handicap & the Gd2 hurdle the race before. He'd be top weight in the handicap, would get a 6lb penalty here but would be unpenalised in the hurdle race so my best guess is he'd run in that.
Carruthers also in the Ascot handicap, but would almost carry top weight (1 lbs less). Here he would have a 6lb penalty, which isn't ideal, and potentially several rivals for the early lead. I'd imagine he'll go where the ground is worst. |
By:
Dog have you got the weights ? Were they on Raceform interactive ? Where did you get them ? Appreciate the interpretation under the conditions. I Hear what you say re Barbershop - Suspect Pipe may be keen on his. Interesting re Sa Suffit
By:
Haven't got an official list of weights but I did go through the entry conditions last night. So no guarantees of accuracy but as far as I can see...
10 lbs pen - China Rock, Deep Purple 6 lbs pen - Master Medic, Duc De Regniere, Carruthers, Sa Suffit. 5 lbs pen - Weird Al 4 lbs pen - Ollie Magern, Calgary Bay 3 lbs pen - Knockara Beau The other 7 runners would be unpenalised. |

barbers shop for me. hopefully he will turn up with a bit of rain forecast. looking thru its form he always seems to run its best race of the season 1st time out. if he ran to his hennessy 4th (giving weight to what a friend who wasnt too far in front) or paddy power 2nd (winner imperial commander) he would have to go very close. only problem with him is that he doesnt seem to have much of a finish. anyone have any ideas if he's an intended runner?
By:
yes i like barbers and totherone
By:
Barbers looks well enough suited by conditions . However the horse was never the most resolute and Id be concerned chasing Kauto in KG may have finished him. The two runs since arent encouraging.
By:
The Tother One looks the one for me.
Goes well fresh and won't mind any softening of the ground. I'll be even more confident if it turns into a real test of stamina. |
By:
current going is GF,G.
By:
rain around
By:
rang wetherby at 5.30 going good good/firm places only had 3mm still watering
By:
Barber Shop wins this I think ill need to chuck the game. that said i will wait and see what the final line up before I make a fool of myself.
By:
Will Tidal return to fences to take in this race or run in the staying hurdle ?
By:
Surely they're not still watering? Plenty of rain around later in the week.
By:
Henderson on ATR just said Barbers Shop goes for the Charlie Hall and Duc de Regneiere for the Wetherby hurdle the race before
By:
Cheeky he was quoted in the summer saying this would be T B's first target. I for one think he is a cracking bet but Im slightly worried that hes got a jock in the hurdle race but not this.
By:
Abbott just read his stable interview in One jump ahead where he states he will stay over hurdles and start off in john smiths hurdle at Wetherby on Charlie Hall day. No Luck.
