Frankel has now totally proved himself having clocked
a fast time in the Dewhurst under not ideal conditions
,loose ground + he got a bump that unsettled him. Under
better conditions he would have destroyed them.
He could get beat in the Guineas if Ballydoyle set a trap
by running one pacemaker on one side of the track and another pacemaker on the otherside. This would then force
Frankels jockey to choose. When he chooses one side the pacemaker could then slow it right down leaving the horses
on the otherside having an advantage. Throw in one side of
the track having faster ground and he could get beat.
Against this I doubt there will be enough runners for this
to work, the presence of Frankel will scare them off.
One things for sure , he's not going to get beat on ability
grounds.

In fairness they're after setting him up to overcome a big stat in winning the 2000 guineas after the dewhurst.

Trainers wont be scared off running their horses in the Guineas because of one horse. This is the Guineas, a premium classic, we are talking about.

Henry Cecil could always use his own pacemaker anyway, and personally think he should leave one in the field just to be sure.

Quite right with the achilles heel being the draw
2010 1000 gns day high drawn didnt hold a prayer.
2000 gns jocks totally oblivious to any potential bias
Report ben10 • October 18, 2010 1:59 PM BST
The 1000 Guineas is the day after though and it rained overnight?
Report geoff m • October 18, 2010 2:13 PM BST
did it only rain on one side ben?
Report ben10 • October 18, 2010 2:27 PM BST
The jockeys weren't oblivious to a potnetial bias in the 2000 Guineas because there wasn't one, then it rained and in the 1000 Guineas high draws didn't hold a prayer
Report geoff m • October 18, 2010 2:40 PM BST
As not 1 jockey explored the stands side rail 2000 day doesnt mean to say there wasnt a bias.
They arent the sharpest knives in the drawer .
When you get a very dry spell as in spring & substantial watering there tends to hold a bias to a rail where there is seepage/capillary drawing of water from the dry side of the rail(if that makes sense)
The grass on the dry side of the rail looked parched gns day.

3½ second per mile going allowance difference between the Saturday and the Sunday
Report ben10 • October 18, 2010 3:13 PM BST
When the ground is like it was on the Saturday there's much less chance of there being a bias, the rain definitely caused the bias (would have got into the ground that had been used the previous day much better for one) and that is why those with a favourable draw were able to exploit it the next day, which isn't what you said first up (I'm probably only splitting hairs tbf so should probably leave it at that)

If he trains on as well as Xaar and St Nicholas Abbey, two other red hot winter Guineas favourites, then he will get beat[;)]
Report brigust1 • October 18, 2010 4:48 PM BST
Beat Glor Na Mar 5 lengths on Saturday, Pathfork beat it 11. Jury still out for me.
Report rogerthebutler • October 18, 2010 4:54 PM BST
If anyone runs a pacemaker against him then he'll win by even further.

Saturday they never went fast enough for him and he he was pulling for his head throughout the first half of the race - yet he still did that to them.

Okay he might not train on (although he is with a master trainer and Galileo's are not known for theoir precocity and then fk all)but at the moment he looks priced about right.
Report brigust1 • October 18, 2010 6:19 PM BST
He's out of a sprinter. If they go a good, end to end gallop in the Guineas will he still have a kick left? Let alone the hustle and bustle setting him off.
Report grendel • October 18, 2010 6:32 PM BST
Frankel's sire is Galileo, dam is Kind(Ire) who is also the dam of Bullet Train who won the Lingfield Derby Trial.

This talk of him not staying is absolute rubbish

Did he look like he was running on empty in the final stretch of the Royal Lodge?Same goes for his Dewhurst win on Saturday, you could say the best classic colts are a mix of speed and stamina,of course there are exceptions your former charge being one of them[;)]
Report geoff m • October 18, 2010 7:15 PM BST
Dont care what his pedigree says but watching him race the last thing you think he wants is 1/2 a mile further.
Just cant see Henry sending him Derby route far more like GNS/St James palace/Eclipse or break then Juddmonte/Irish Champion
with the Arc as an option if he then looks like getting 12 furlongs.
Report Prima Donna • October 18, 2010 7:22 PM BST
^^^ Thats what HRAC has already said,Also he is out of a sprinter......one who has a lot of stamina in her pedigree, and as much as he is out of a sprinter don't forget he is by a stamina sire.
Report brigust1 • October 18, 2010 8:18 PM BST
I'm not knocking him, I was there on Saturday, great day.
It's just that Henry said he was bumped early and that set him off. They went pretty slowly early on and I think they went pretty slowly early in the Royal Lodge. Wears a cross noseband.
I'm simpy asking the question. Given the hustle and bustle of a large Guineas field and the likely end to end gallop are these ****s in his armour?
Sprinters can be set off easily, perhaps that is just his temperament.

There is NO WAY he won't go for the derby after winning the guineas, to say he may be aimed at 12f later on if look like staying is ridiculous, if he gets 12f later on in the season against elders the derby would be a doddle against only 3yo
and saying he currently doesn't look like wanting ½ a mile further in the autumn of his 2yo campaign is also ridiculous.

The horse is the most exciting 2yo for decades and instead of looking forward to the potential all some people wanna do is speculate negatively
Report tobermory • October 18, 2010 9:59 PM BST
If he hacks up in The Craven there will only be 10 runners in The Guineas, so they won't be in different groups strung across the width of the track.
