I think he's spot on, you can't say there's a lot between them, it's 1-1 with both maybe having excuses each time they've faced each other. Makfi's shown he's class and Canford has also, both will have improved over the season.
By:
Don't know how you can look at it any other way, ben. Canford fans are banking on Makfi having another sore throat or disliking Ascot and that doesn't amount to 11/10 CC.

Hearts of Fire is going to split them you know !
By:
Only firm to have priced it up correctly imo
By:
if you disagree with him and your a winner he wont lay you anyway.

By:
If the groud is Good or GF, CC will b1tch slap Makfi.
All the debates I hear about these two horses and the Draw at HQ on Guineas day is rarely mentioned. ![]() |
By:
I'd rate them similar but trainer on record as saying Makfi's big target is the BC whereas surely this is CC's big day.
By:
Oh yeah Sint people fail to mention things, such as Hearts of Fire being blocked off from getting at CC at Ascot. I'm not convinced that CC will love Ascot all that much. I think he is an excellent horse but i think Hughes will get caught like a rabbit in head lights ones Soumillon goes.

H.O.F let himself down since though, Graeme. CC has not imo.
I'm waiting for the ground before betting. On GF CC is a balls deep jobb imo. ![]() |
By:
yep, would not rule out a Hughes accident but im sure Paco Boys latest start is still fresh in his mind.
By:
Makfi wants a straight course and no quicker than good ground to be seen at his very best imo.

By:
It might just be horses for courses !

I don't trust the Ascot going. Thye wrecked the course when they changed the whole substance the grass lays on. There are some amazing results at Ascot. Even when the ground is quite fast, some soft ground horses seem to like the straight especially.
Additionally, the QE2 is not a race imo to get terribly involved in. Unless there is a serious pacemeker, things can go wrong with hard luck stories very common in what seems to be a short straight over a mile. Time and again I have seen horses held up as per instructions, either never able to challenge because the pace was slow and those at the front are quickening and the classy ones behind are too far back. Ten again even pacemakers can win this race, I remeber the terrible job of pacemaking done by Hills, when he set a slow pace for his fancied stable companion and instead of setting the race up for the valuable stud prospect, nicked the race from the front on the otherwise pretty moderate Maroof. I even remember a real brute of a handicapper called Buzzards Bay winning at 50/1 making all the running too. My idea of a value bet is Hearts Of Fire. This has been the target for some time and you can forget about his last two runs. The race he ran at Ascot is worth a look. He probabl;y would have won that day had he not been utterly murdered about 3 times in running. Its not as if he is a short price either, although I do see he has been quietly backed on here for quite some time. |

Alright, extremely quietly!
But 40's has been matched - not 400's. |

if you disagree with him and your a winner he wont lay you anyway. Can't agree there, James laid me 2k Canford in the St James Palace (cash) at a very early stage on a request on here. Though they seem to restrict many accounts, I think James likes to lay his opinion. |
By:
out of interest perp, what price did you take and what price was available here on the day,may explain why he was so willing to lay you
By:
^ A question to which you know the answer, I don't think many expected canford to drift in the manner it did on the day, certainly not me
. The point was, he was standout at the time and was happy to lay it, so my point was that the lad saying they wont lay you is wrong. I hope he drifts again, and 2/1 is available on Saturday, i'll be all in. |

On the subject on the QEII, can anyone comment on the status of Cape Blanco? Is he likely to be a non-runner given his current price on BF?
By:
I can't see CB running over a mile. There's the champion and BC Classic to wait on.
By:
I heard he's off to the Arc, but don't quote me on that, not got a source
By:
Surprised at how weak Canford Cliffs has been this week. Thought 6-4 would have appealed, but little interest and not much at 13-8 either.
By:
Keep drifting please

"I heard he's off to the Arc, but don't quote me on that, not got a source "
Yeah apparently so. Does that tell us what we need to know about F&G ? |
By:
only backed mafki once, guess which time.
i know if i back it on sat it'll get beat, leave it alone and it'll hose up. one of those races....! |
By:
I haven't backed him before but at 7/4 I'll back Canford Cliffs.

I think Soumillon will hand Hughes enough rope. Every Thomas, Richard and Harry knows that Canford Cliffs is ridden from behind. The same three people know that RVW will try and out smart them from the front. Soumillon is very good at taking up the right positions and he will take aim at RVW and not too far in front of CC. Hearts of Fire shouldn't be forgotten about if things get ugly in there as he ran very well at Ascot before. These are my question/doubts a) does CC like Ascot a great deal b) Will RVW tell Murtagh to piss off because he's had enough
1 - Lay CC and RVW 2 - Back Makfi (W) and Hearts of Fire e/w |
By:
makfi is the greatest horse ever. ( now avail the public of 2-1 canford please)
By:
who's james knight[smiley:crazy]
for what it's worth (very little) I think canford cliffs is the best horse in the race, but has been on the go since the greenham. makfi is the fresher of the two that's for sure. |

By:
1 - Lay CC and RVW 2 - Back Makfi (W) and Hearts of Fire e/w must be another play or two surely ![]() |

Nah, all of them will suffice. |

What is the value of that post?

None whatsoever. But then none of his ever do. Btw perp the "83" stands for graeme's i.q. [;)]

being a bot generous there MP, maybe Graham would like to post his ante post lay of Canford, I expect it does not exist.

"being a bot generous there MP" The Mensa Society is out in force again today. Yet another eejit trying to play the intellectual, and can't even spell a three lettered word correctly. You guys wouldn't be a part of the bash street kids by any chance ? |
